Great food !! Everything was perfect
Very friendly Japanese service!! Worth the price!!
Great experience overall, from the quality to the presentation and the taste of the food was nothing short of superb. We’ll be back soon, but only this time with friends.
Love this place! Food was unique, fresh and seasonal. Want to come back soon!
a fanatic authentic Japanese experience. The staff was warm and welcoming. They took time to explain each dish and made the day feel special even though it was just a normal Friday for us.
We had a wonderful dinner at Wa’z. Chef and the team put a lot of efforts on this incredible experience and we feel that completely! Look forward to another great dining in Wa’z and the stunning ideas of the cuisines.
Kaiseki as Master Tawara composes it is a series of theme coordinated small dishes, from appetizer through desert. My wife & I go here for very special occasions, the dishes are always unique and surprising, prepared right there fresh for the customer by the master himself, every month has a different theme and each time we go, the day gains another dimension in creativeness, sophistication and gratitude for something we could not possibly dream of putting together ourselves.
If you are in a rush, want a lot of cheap food fast, look elsewhere.
If you want to spend a special occasion with a treasured person, the occasional edible miracle popping up in front of you expertly explained, look no further.
Perfect is the only word!
Absolutely wonderful experience. The food was inventive and delicious, Hiro San is an innovator. I loved every part of it, the flavor, the texture, everything was combined so well together that nothing seemed out of place. Also, I had a chance to bond more with my mother in law during our meal here and I will never forget it.
We loved that the restaurant was tucked in the corner on a bustling Seattle street corner. Love the concept and architecture. We were literally transported back to Japan and experienced a 6-star Kaiseki (懐石) meal. Every dish has its purpose and story behind it. From the fresh ingredients to the seasonal catch, it was a perfect ascension that ended with a sweet note that lingered for days. From the Chef to the servers, all were super knowledgeable and courteous. We are definitely coming back here again and be transported to Japan for a couple of hours.
Love it! would love to try different monthly menu!
This was an outstanding experience. Not only was the food delicious, the knowledge about Sake and the differences was just superb. We really enjoyed our 23rd anniversary at Wa'z and would always recommend this restaurant.
It was an outstanding experience.
Outstanding tasting menu!
Had a fantastic experience here. Food and service were 5 stars. Celebrated a birthday and staff was very thoughtful. Would come back again !
Excellent meal! Fantastic service! A dining experience not to be missed.
Fantastic dinner! Every single dish was delicious and noteworthy.
As perfect as before. Foods are great, uni and beef are my favorite.
I think The Wa”z is the best Japanese restaurant in Satte!
Enjoy both excellent food and service. Perfectly prepared and presented food with immaculate and attentive service. A truly amazing experience! Highly recommended!
Service was top notch, staff was knowledgeable about food: history, cultural significance and where food was resourced. Presentation was thoughtful, balanced and pleasing to the eye. Courses are thoughtfully prepared at your ready, never rushed. I would have like to hear Japanese music instead of American jazz standards. Looking forward to going back with friends.
Unique experience in Japanese dining - a cultural and gastronomic journey not to be missed!
Yes, Wa'z is an expensive place to eat. However, it is a truly authentic Japanese restaurant, and even better than many comparable places in Japan. Just as with similar places in Japan, you do not order off of a menu. Everyone that goes there will eat the same selection of dishes. That selection changes with the seasons, often by month.
Why 5 stars? The quality of food and pairing of flavors is that good.
What a treat! Love every single bite! Hiro-san never disappoints! The taste is exquisite, service superb. We were treated like family!
My gf and I dined at Wa’z for her birthday. We opted for their February Kaiseki menu without any of the valentine
The last time that I spent $110 per person the meal was amazing. For this fixed price menu each dish should be fantastic. Half the dishes where really good and the others where just ok. To keep this price up the restaurant is going to have to improve. Btw, for two people and one glass of wine the total bill was over $300.
wa’z was a really nice experience because the service was really nice and the food was phenomenal. I really enjoyed every course/dish that came out during the kaiseki dinner! The caviar and uni, and truffle add on made a real difference with with shinogi and yakimono. I definitely really want to come back when there is another kaiseki menu to see the different creations that wa’z has to offer.
overall is good, like A5,but some courses are weird
This is a small restaurant that serves incredibly good Kaiseki style Japanese dishes. The flavor combinations are exquisite. And, the personel are friendly and helpful. It was an excellent dining experience. The only concern is the price, which seems high compared to other quality dining experiences that I have had in Seattle (or Japan, for that matter). Go, enjoy, and be prepared for a spendy evening.
Just was not worth the money. The food was not that great at all. They explained their meal, celebration traditional food, but for the high price, i expected a lot more.
So many people gave this place high marks, such a hard restaurant to get into? I don’t know... just wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t return.
My favorite restaurant. They turn food into art. A must try for Japanese food lovers.
Incredible kaiseki experience. Menu changes every month. We had A5 wagyu sukiyaki and many other dishes. Very classy experience at the counter.
The service and food were amazing. The fish was amazingly fresh! Before you eat each course you can see the food being prepared and then one of the chefs will give an explanation of exactly what is in the dish. The food was fairly traditional Japanese but with a few interesting modifications and additions to create some novelty.
Everything was just amazing! The food was like a special type of magic - it was delicious, unusual, and beautiful in the plate. It's obvious that every meal was made with so much love and attention to details. There was no unnecessary food in the plate, everything had its own purpose.
I consider this place not just the place for eating, but for getting some new experience. It's a bit pricey, but it definitely worth it.
Thank you so much!
We went for weekend lunch. We had a large assortment of fish and vegetables served with dashi soup, sushi rice and nori - a make-your-own sushi platter! The food was incredible, the service was warm and timely, and the ambience was both relaxing and energetic. I would strongly recommend, and am looking forward to returning one night for dinner.
Every bite was well planned and delicious. The meal was just the right length to enjoy every dish without feeling rushed. The sake tasting menus were also fun and paired well.
Great food, great service and normal indoor volume. :) Just wish the courses had a little more food since it was so delicious.
Was great, I'd like to see a larger sushi course but otherwise great!
the restaurant is extremely welcome and explanatory. The presentation was very detailed and delicious. I wish I had more sushi though.
Delicious, unique, impeccably presented. Phenomenal service. Really enjoyed it an would recommend for a special occasion. Food is good but you're really paying for the experience here.
Beautiful. Many courses of small bites, each its own offer of taste, texture and color. I called a day in advance and the chef accommodated my GF needs. Sit at counter for full experience watching each dish get assembled.
