Everything was excellent except there wasn’t any a/c and it was a warm, humid evening. Fortunately we asked for the windows behind us to be opened, and that made it a good experience.
Watch out for the serer who wants to join you for the evening - 3rd wheel so t speak. Also, the advertised $28 Caesar with lump crab and baby gem lettuce was the standard romaine.
Delicious food! We sat outside, which was a bit noisy since it’s on a busy street.
Oyster happy hour is a great deal!
Pan pizza was DENSE. Would have been a great appetizer at 1/5 the size
Creative and delicious food in a fun atmosphere with excellent service.
All 18 oysters were terrific, as were the salmon entree, french fries (!) and berry crostata. The striped bass entree was ok but not especially flavorful, and I didn't care for the panzanella at all.
The service was very kind, informative and 98% efficient -- once the place filled up, our dessert was late and they forgot to bring the coffees until we reminded. But that's ok, we had a very enjoyable meal, and the cool breeze blowing in through open windows. Overall a lovely evening and a solid recommendation for dinner. I like this place a lot.
While the menu looked really interesting, the dishes lacked focus and flavor. The waiter explained that the food was tapas style but many of the “plates” were too small to share. There was no indication on the menu that the main plates were more like appetizers for one. The whitefish pizza had way too much cheese and the fried smelts were greasy. We did enjoy the raw oysters and they were the highlight of the night,
Very pleasant servers. Comfortable large booth fir four of us. Creative menu
Service was very quick, Ingrid was wonderful! We were sat promptly and everything we ordered came out quickly. Ingrid was helpful for knowing how big portions would be to make sure we ordered enough for a filling dinner. Delicious drinks, apps, and dinner!
I hate giving negative reviews because I know the restaurant industry is really struggling right now, but I'm sorry...caveat emptor ("let the buyer beware”)! This place is soooooo overpriced. We got the garlic knots (tasty but so salty and heavy), pepperoni pizza (so oily and spicy - couldn't have more than one bite), steak tips (tasty but for that pric should be), and the caesar salad with lump crab (to be detailed further), oysters, and 1 drink each and the the bill came to well over $300. The biggest disappointment was caesar salad with lump crab cake for $28. When it was delivered, I thought they had forgotten the crab. It's outrageous that you can charge $28 for sprinkled/garnished crab on top. It was also so heavily dressed with with cream and cheese (not in a good way) that you could barely even taste the minimum crab that was there. The only highlight of the meal was our server, who was polite and kind despite it all.
Far too expensive for portion sizes.
Went for the $1 oysters, stayed for the delicious house made pasta with lobster, pizza, and cocktails! Service was A+!
One member of our party has an allergy, and we were brought a dish we did not order, and that had shellfish. Since it was so loud, and we could not hear the server, we assumed it was another dish. thankfully, her reaction was as not bad. However, for a $450 meal for 4 people, I could never recommend this. Also, then drinks took about 20 minutes per round, and our server was clearly overwhelmed.
Service was terrible. We were seated more than ten minutes with only water being offered. I finally asked a waiter passing by if we were going to get a waiter. After a couple of minutes someone we hadn’t seen before came out, flustered, and apologized. She then asked for our order without asking if we wanted a drink to start. Our drinks and appetizers arrived at the same.
We ordered the octopus “caramels” and were very disappointed. They were tough with no hint of octopus.
And the oysters were to small for the 3.50 charge.
Not a great experience.
So good to be eating in a really good restaurant again! The restaurant was full but the patio that has been added during the pandemic had only a few takers on this 90 degree evening.
We enjoyed oysters from the cape that were so fresh and briney you could have been dining waterside. After sharing the oysters we opted for their fabulous whitefish pizza. The Alberino wine was the perfect accompaniment to both dishes.
Our server Jordan and our sommelier could not have provided better service.
Even with a full room the noise level was more than tolerable. Easy conversational levels maintained throughout dinner.
the food was SO delicious!!!! went during happy hours (5-7pm), totally worth it. The clam pizza was the most amazing pizza I've had. The octopus pasta was very expensive for the amount, but still delicious!
First time out with long time friends in over a year.
Too noisy, moody stuff. Super salty food
Took 30 mins to seat us. We ordered pasta with turnip sauce that came without the sauce and very undercooked.
We did have a lovely time sitting outside people watching on a lively evening. Our server was excellent. Oysters too expensive. Beer pretty expensive too. The smoked whitefish pizza was killer! Really delicious. We made one mistake in ordering a way too expensive octopus dish. I don’t really think we got served what we ordered. It looked and tasted like smoked smelts! Our mistake for not sending it back. It cost a ridiculous $28 or so dollars.
It was five torpedo shaped small fingers. Not great. Order the pizza when you go . They are delicious.
After numerous visits, seated in poor location next to bar. Given 1st day waiter who messed up our order, and gave a wine pour of maybe 1/2 of what it should have been. The manager was summoned and was no help, and no consideration was given to us regarding the bill. We enjoyed Waypoint many times before but will not return.
Excellent food, service, and ambience!
A chill place to dine with friends. They have hourly oyster from 5-7pm and the other types are $3.5 each. We ordered at 6:50pm and waited for about 40 minutes for the food cause the bar was too busy at the time. Overall not a bad experience.
The food is always on point. The managers and the crew usually are amazing but this time around I was a little disappointed on the service. I know that the waiter was training but there were plenty of other servers that could have helped along with the one that was supervising the newbie. But everyone seem to have dropped the ball last night. We got our Brussel sprouts before we even got our drinks. Wrong food order came out, and they weren’t super attentive to our needs.
This could be a one off, but I was very disappointed. I going that they will rectify the next time we are there.
I've been to this restaurant numerous times, though last Saturday evening was the first time since the onset of Covid, and it was, as expected, terrific. I was with a friend who had asked me to find a place with really good food and great energy, and so naturally I thought of Waypoint. I had a selection of oysters, while she had the salmon crudo to start; we then split the fritters and the white clam pizza, both of which were delicious, and then finished with the cinnamon donuts (just because). The only down note was that our waiter was new and quickly got a little overwhelmed managing his tables; fortunately, the hosting staff picked up the slack, and all was well. Highly recommend this spot in Harvard Square.
We ended up sitting at the bar for the evening and had a lovey experience. The oysters were amazing. We got several plates to share. The wood grilled octopus was amazing. Highly recommend.
This formerly creative and exciting culinary treat is now expensive and standard. Such a disappointment, I used to love coming here but not ever again. Service was poor but I also understand that staff are very hard to come by and it was nice to see the flow manager pitch hit when her wait staff could not.
Delicious food, great service, good vibes! Would come back
The general manager, Erica, is absolutely incredible. She and our server took great care of our group during the crazy one dollar oyster period.
We had an excellent experience. The staff was helpful and pleasant and the food was delicious. One suggestion, the salads are sharing size, which should be mentioned. Thanks.
Jordan was an excellent server. He made menu suggestions and handled our rowdy party.
Food and service is always on point! Great job WP.
Enjoyed the food. It never disappoints! Nice hosts. Since it was Monday night, the place was half-empty which was exactly what we wanted.
We came in for the dollar oysters which were delicious! The cocktail and wine we got were very good. Spacing and plexiglass between tables made us feel very comfortable. Will definitely go back.
such good food incredible oysters
This was my second time at Waypoint and I've never had a bad bite here! I work in the restaurant industry so I tend to be picky when I go out to eat but Waypoint does not disappoint. Service was fantastic. Sit at the chef's table if you're a foodie like me :) Price is very reasonable for the quality and level of service/atmosphere. We love waypoint!
As always, fantastic! We usually try to sit at the bar and the dollar oyster deal is the best lure in town. The bartender also shared our love of clams. He was professional, was there when we needed him and left us to be when we needed to. Waypoint - you never disappoint!
