This place is overpriced, pretentious and the food was a disappointment. I got lamb shoulder which was mostly fat with almost no meat. It came with what they called avacado raita in a container that held about 2Tbsp. There was nothing at all to nibble with our drinks before the dinner was served. No bread or anything else. The service was adequate but I never felt that I was in a high end place. I could go on about how badly I felt about this meal, but the other two people that I was with are going to write their own reviews about how unhappy they were about the experience and the food.
They were out of a number of items and it was early in the evening. They also put a lot of dressing on the salad when it was requested to be on the side.
Fantastic meal! Had a great time and great service!
Our server, Molly, was terrific. Have never had a bad dish at Waypoint before, but this visit was not without flaws.
The Good: The oysters were delicious and a great deal at $1 a piece. Everyone loved the smoked bluefish, and the Bloody Mary was also delicious.
The Disappointing: The clam pizza was overly salty as a result of too much parmesan cheese--couldn't even taste the clams. The emmer casareci lacked something to balance its vinegar content. We only took one bite each and decided to take it home to salvage the dish with a touch of cream to lessen its sourness.
wish the warm pastries were heated and not reheated this morning. But I dont need to eat so many sweets lol. Great time, excellent service! great food!
It was fantastic! The brunch menu is second to none, and the service was outstanding. We’ll definitely be back!!
The place wants to create an ambiance, so lights are kept low, but it's impossible to see the menu. People are using their phone's flash lights to read it. The food is good, but the portions are tiny. The target demographic is 20-something (the music selection supports it), but it is pricey.
Always the best! Great food, very innovative menu.
Great venue for location, halfway between Central and Harvard Squares. Menu features innovative combinations of flavors and textures, a good pub atmosphere.
It was fun night of celebration. Oysters and grilled octopus were great. Also loved my seafood pasta. The crab Caesar salad was somewhat problematic. The two things were both good but the salad dressing overwhelmed the sweet crab meat. Clam cakes were really clam fritters. Enjoyed the evening as waitstaff was very welcoming.
Three shrimp cocktail in a serving on a large bed of ice for their prices is ridiculous. Same with serving size of crude- ridiculously small.
Pita bread was raw and melted chocolate on dessert was burnt. Too pricey for bad food.
We had a great time at Waypoint. The food was delicious and the staff was attentive to our needs for a quiet table as we were dining with my grandmother.
An unexpected treasure! Exciting food choices even for a gluten/dairy free diner! Delightful wines, and a lovely evening!!
A limited lunch menu, lukewarm food, and mediocre servers made this one of the less distinguished Cambridge lunches I have had.
Wow!! Good ambiance. Great service. Crudos to die for!! This place just keeps getting better and better.
Excellent spot for seafood. Oysters are a must.
Terrible service. Our waitress was unfriendly and not attentive. The food wasn’t great. My husband and me both left and said it was just okay. Wish we would have eaten elsewhere. There are so many wonderful restaurants in the area- I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place
As always the waypoint staff is on point with their level of service :) thank you for making a special occasion great! :)
Oh my - what delicious food! My friend and I ordered half a dozen oysters, the blue crab & angel hair pasta, tomato leaf garganelli, and a half portion of market vegetables. Everything was delicious - highlights were the blue crab pasta and oysters. Portions were larger than expected, and we definitely over-ordered. Food was a bit on the saltier/greasier side for my liking, but tasty for sure!
Their brunch was great! We had troubles narrowing down what we wanted... so we ordered it all! The donut sampler, bread basket special, lobster potato Benedict, pizza - we were in heaven :) we will definitely be back.
Great food, great ambiance, great service! Would definitely go back next time we are in town.
Our food, especially the fish and chips and donuts, was outstanding. Our sever was a delight. Will return.
Great great date place. Outstanding food, really knowledgeable wait staff, perfectly paced.
The food was delicious and the drinks were also great. It was a much more relaxing and friendly atmosphere than restaurants in downtown Boston. And the best was our waiter - he was friendly and prompt (without seeming in the way). When we asked, he offered great suggestions on both dinner and dessert. The food was simply outstanding - so flavorful. Great experience
Molly, Molly, Molly!
Went last Thurs, sat at a high top next to the kitchen. Molly, our server, was amazing and expertly guided us through an unforgettable meal. The Lobster Tail dish was my fave. Brandon, our wine server, was also fantastic and wonderful to chat with... ask about the “underwater” wine! Service and food were excellent overall. Will def be back.
My husband (from Spain, where we live - although I was born and raised in Boston) is a huge seafood connoisseur and I had heard wonderful things about Waypoint. We’re so glad we chose to dine here in our one night out kids-free while staying in Cambridge on summer vacation. He had a wide variety of oysters and clams and while I’m not a huge seafood fan and my menu options were limited I still had a delicious half chicken plate and a lovely pickled veggies salad. The wine list was on point, I had a lovely Txakoli from northern Spain. The meal was a splurge but the service, quality and ambience were well worth it. Thank you for helping me to show my husband the very best of my home culture!
All dishes were original and very tasty. Beautiful food presentation. We all enjoyed our experience very much.
Just a great experience. Food was awesome!
Food and ambience were great. Loved the big open windows and easy to get to. Service eating at the bar was a little slow.
This is just a really good restaurant that produces inventive and very nicely prepared food. Their staff is attentive and charming
Amazing food and cocktails!
Great food. Raw Bar, Specialty Cocktails, Pasta Dishes, and Clam pizza. Love to try new restaurants, but have come back to this one multiple times.
4th time there and excellent every time!
Really delicious and unusual squash blossom/burrata/zucchini/mint pizza; extraordinary oven roasted veggies (WHAT is in the sauce?) made for a very satisfying meal. Service a bit too attentive, interrupting conversation probably 25 times by a dozen different servers. I get they’re trying to be helpful but it was too much attention.
Let me start by saying everything we ordered was great. Fish and chips, pork dumplings sausage tomato pie were all prepared . The Oysters were very good and served with several tasties sauces. Service was great from waitress to food runners and clearing and wiping table several times during our meal. Great.
The two knocks:
1. price and or size of the small plates. When we order small plates we hope to be able to split them between two and get more then a bite and half. The fish and chips were outstanding with the chips being a salted lightly fried squash but the fish was about a fork and half for each of us. Move onto the pork dumplings only come with 3 - come on every try splitting a dumpling. The Oysters were delish ,
but its hard enough to pay over 3$ and oyster but they had one type of oyster that was $4 appease
2. Plan and simple - bar service was slow. Drinks were very good , when they got there.
I recommend Waypoing to a dinner date or a big party.
Great selection of seafood with a twist of the unknown or alternative ingredient to create elegant dishes. Cocktails are very well made both on menu and off menu cocktails.
As per usual waypoint does not disappoint. Excellent service ambience and food. Personal favorite restaurant in Cambridge.
Outstanding menu and food quality, however service was slow, inefficient, and frustrating. Our party of 12 kept seeking out our server for drink refills and water. The food was excellent, but for a birthday celebration they did nothing above and beyond to make it special.
Was very much looking forward to this. We wanted to try somewhere we haven’t been before and we were so disappointed. Worst oysters in the city by far. Every oysters water blended into one another. The service was slow, didn’t see our waitress after the entree nor did we see a dessert menu. $200 dinner for two and left hungry. Not good.
