Visiting college son from out of town. Went on recommendation. Fantastic seafood. Great atmosphere.
The food was excellent. The service was very good. I only gave 4 stars because the service was very slow, but it was Easter Sunday. They did apologize and bring a free appetizer, which unfortunately I couldn't eat because of my allergies, but it was a nice gesture. The Oysters were excellent, fresh and only half price on Sunday!!
Overall excellent food, creative outstanding cocktails and ambiance makes for a energetic fun night out.
Highlights- soup dumplings and blue crab pasta(big amount- should be shared- like everything)
Window seats with initially too much wind quickly solved. Disappointing snails dish was a bad choice.
We will be back again! Tx
We were seated next to hot and noisy kitchen . Not a good experience . Food was okay but not up to the standard we are used to at Waypoint .
Very rough experience with checking in for reservation and getting cocktails upon finally arriving at our table. Should get asked for cocktails before the twenty minute mark of sitting down.
The overall quality of the food and drink was very good. The pacing on delivery of food though created a less than desirable experience. It just seemed that everything came out as they were done, not in a deliberate, curated manner. Would still recommend though.
We had a wonderful time back at Waypoint, the service was phenomenal and the food and drinks were great! Looking forward to going again sometime soon.
This may be my favorite restaurant. The fish and the vegetables are outstanding, the bar is great, the menu is wide-ranging and creative, and the staff is always helpful. Go with friends so you can enjoy sharing.
Great food, drinks, wine
Eggs were a little under done this time around. Food took a bit long to come out even tho place wasn't too busy. Had better visits previous times, maybe just an off afternoon.
Small portions but unique flavor combos! Pretty inside too
We came with a big group & had a delicious dinner. Would go back again next time we are in town.
Great hospitality, delicious food and cocktails! Always a good time!
Was on the fence giving 3 stars. Oysters were great. As fresh oysters aught to be. The the blue crab salad and entree, were a disapointment where was the blue crab? smothered with Farro, needed carb, citrus, salt, too many jalps, then the entree of Nettles and lamb and too much pasta, again where was the kamb, seasoning, dish was like warm. No garlic,? What's up!?
This place was awesome! I especially loved that they allow you to taste the wine (even if you're ordering it by the glass) before they pour a full glass. The creativity of the dishes and flavor combinations were amazing. I can't wait to go back!
Good ambience, sub-par food. The oysters on the Japanese style waffles were very fishy. The avocado toast was good, but nothing notable.
My sister and I brought our mom here for brunch as part of a progressive birthday celebration, and what a great find! Innovative, well-executed, and thoughtfully-inclusive food. Charming service. Great Sunday morning soundtrack. Brunch should always feel like a party, and Waypoint was right on target.
The food and service were quite good.
Two negatives: it is pretty loud (blasting music, and not particularly good music) and rather dark - which wasn't a big problem until we were trying to eat a non-filleted roast branzino, and finding bones was a bit tricky in the poor lighting.
I can see why lots of people love the place, and don't get me wrong - we enjoyed our meal, but given the number of options for great meals in Cambridge, I don't know that we'd return.
I expected the quality of the food to be more consistently high. The bread baked in-house is marvelous and the crab and citrus salad was absolutely delightful. Other than those, I was underwhelmed. The pizza crust was over baked, and the soup dumplings and the char belly were bland. In general, I expect a place like this to use seasoning well. Also, while I love a perfectly transparent ice cube in my cocktail, it should not take up 90% of my glass since it really serves no purpose after the small quantity of actual drink is gone. Otherwise, helpful and attentive staff, nice ambiance, not too loud so it's great to have an actual conversation over dinner.
The food was really amazing. Caccio e pepe w lobster was as good as anything I've ever eaten. Everything was fresh and light. Server was knowledgeable and low-key. Place was a little dark and too big for the crowd but it should have been packed. The food is extraordinary.
Every moment was wonderful. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about both the food and drink. She described the drinks perfectly and guided us to get the right amount of food. We left very happy! New favorite spot!
the waiter was incredibly nice and smily and professional. The food was dissapointed but for those "donuts" which are still excellent and beat "Union square donuts". too bad the food is not as good as it used to be (hamburger was cold and too much sauce, the pasta with lobster not much taste and heavy and too creamy, hushpuppies with lobster had no taste..)
Great food and excellent service. The ambiance is funky and all over the place. Not bad, just can’t place the theme.
The food tho... Char belly!
Great ambiance, lively and romantic. The food was fresh and delicious!
Food was quite tasty. We shared many small plates... which, for the price, could have bigger portions.
Helpful waitstaff, delicious creative food. Pricey, but great.
The food was good, nothing special. An example are the lobster fritters. There was barely any lobster in them and you would not guess it was a lobster fritter if you didn't know. Some of the other dishes were tasty and the portions were small, not great for sharing.
Food was oftentimes too salty. Wait staff was inconsistent in how they treated our table; (e.g. opened the water, closed the water, cleared out utensils, brought back utensils, took our order then forgot our order, etc.). Ergo, bit too expensive for the quality of service and food. But the overall menu was impressive; turnaround was quick.
A great place for a delightful lunch, and I am sure that it is just as good for dinner. They offer terrific seafood, including oysters and caviar, as well as other tempting options (and vegetarians will not go hungry). I had the shakshuka, and it was excellent! The wine list is good but not overwhelming; they offer many unusual or lesser know suggestions so you may need a suggestion from your server but this will give you a chance to try something good that you might not otherwise encounter.
Enjoyed Sunday brunch at Waypoint. Honestly, the Okonomiyaki Waffle with fried oysters knocked my socks off... it was the most flavorful dish I’ve eaten in New England since moving from New Orleans. Also, our server (Lucas) took such great care of us, we left wanting to return as soon as possible.
Fun! Great cocktails for brunch. Enjoyed sharing everything!
Lovely drinks and food, relaxed service, great late night time!
The food and the staff were wonderful! Everyone was very friendly the entire time we were there. I recommend the lobster cacio e pepe!
Service was impeccable, they were attentive and knowledgable. Food was delicious, well thought out and executed perfectly. Can't wait to come back!
Waypoint made my birthday dinner a memorable, special occasion. Our server went above and beyond patiently explaining and accommodating food intolerances. Her knowledge of the menu and the wines was impressive, and she was warm and thoughtful in her service - Waypoint sets a high standard for hospitality.
I love the oyster so much! We have four people and we had 4 dozens of oysters!
Food was great as always. I had an excellent time at Waypoint, it is the perfect place for a date, to bring a group of friends or family, and great for kids. My server was amazing as well. I forgot his name but he was so friendly, helpful, attentive, and seemed to really care about my group enjoying our experience. The food and service from all staff are some of the main reasons I continue to recommend this place to others. I will be coming back soon!
Horrible service. Cloe didn't bother putting in our app order until after our mains were served. Didn't even acknowledge that was an issue. She didn't come back to check on status of our food or if we wanted another round of drinks. She was rude and threw the check on our table. This place has gone down in service - or just needs to be free of Cloe.
The food was very poor quality. Octopus was not good enough and very rough to chew. The burger actually had a very foul taste in the meat. Fries that came with were also soggy.
The drinks were good, love their selection of absinthe.
Ambiance was nice, good mood and overall design of interior.
This is my fourth or fifth visit. Most of the food is good-very good though never exciting. Staff is friendly, knowledgable and professional but not stiff. Glad I am not a vegetarian as the roast vegetable entree is dull and over-priced. Stick to the seafood. Noise level is lower than most 'hip' places. Some unusual wines by the glass. Figure to spend $100+ per person. Great spot when someone else is picking up the bill.
