Great place for a date. I went there with one of my friends from out of town. It was great for seafood. Great music.
It was quiet and cozy, and we all liked the food. Service was a bit slow, more because we were latish for lunch rather than business, I think. There was confusion with our wine order. But we'll definitely be going back for lunch.
The best cinnamon rolls! Excellent service. Always a good time at waypoint
Nice Vibe. Lovely drinks and appetizers. Hope to go back and try more dishes
Had a wonderful experience for dinner. Very friendly and knowledgeable service (proactive suggestions for dishes and wine pairings that spoke of experience). Only had seafood - that was the goal, after all. And every dish was simply delicious, from the crudos (especially the scallops) to the lobster tails and vegetables. Great flavor combinations that complemented each other well and excellently executed. It was truly a delight to dine here. Thank you.
Great food. Expensive wine list and relatively expensive overall but very high quality dishes.
Great. Sat at the bar for $1 oysters during happy hour. Great vibe and very friendly staff. Will return.
It was amazing except the food was a bit salty
Disappointing food quality, the baked oysters in particular were not tasty and I didn’t finish the dish.
Overpriced for what it is. One of the dishes was so overspiced (peper in cacio & pepe) that it wasn't eatable and another one was just bland...
Food was great, but the lighting made it very hard to read the menus. My parents had to take out their phones and use the flashlight feature to place our order. It was also noisier than i was expecting on a Sunday evening and at the price-point of the restaurant. Making it hard to hold a conversation across the table without feeling like you were shouting
So so good!!!
Tasty food w/ a modern and eclectic twist on classics
A real find! The food is excellent, and perfectly and creatively balanced. Loved the small plate format. The wine selection was great, service attentive. The ambiance was hipster comfortable, nice music without being too loud. Loved the open kitchen. I'm a big fan. Will return next time I'm in Cambridge!
food was wonderful. great server.
Food was good but portion sizes were ridiculously tiny. I left hungry!
Waypoint has innovative food when speaking about seafood. I eat a polpetoni made of octopus, I have never seen anything like it. The space is big and the service is good and fast.
Incredibly cooked fish! We tried three small plates: octopus, arctic char, and bluefish. Each plate had plenty to share, and the main fish was always perfectly prepared, while the garnishes and sauces provided a tasty contrast. Delicious and a great experience.
Molly, our server, was fantastic as was the food. The octopus, halibut, and Arctic char were particularly good. The “octidog” was kind of odd. We would definitely return.
Great ambiance, service and outstanding food and drinks. Everything tasted great and felt very fresh, moderately priced too. Will definitely be returning.
The food and kitchen were brilliant as usual, very inventive dishes and we enjoyed all our choices. The letdown was the service, a disinterested waiters let down their kitchen colleagues and their customers. We started off with a waiter that we have had before and he was great but passed us onto a colleague. We have dined there 3 times and the first twice the service was impeccable. The value for money is great as Boston dining can be expensive.
One of our favorite places for fantastic seafood. Service is always exceptional! Morgan rocked!!
We came to Waypoint a couple years ago and had a great meal with excellent service. We had friends in town and decided to bring them in for a fun dinner. Sadly, this visit did not live up to the first. The food was good, but could have been better seasoned. Most disappointing was the service. We were not well attended to and twice the next course arrived before our table was reset. We also would have ordered at least one more round of drinks had a server checked on us.
Great food with a primary focus on seafood! I didn't expect much when walking in and seeing how prominently the bar featured in the restaurant. However, we were seated next to the open kitchen and the chefs and servers all charmed my family (including my elementary school-aged daughter). The food was absolutely delicious-- I had the lobster cacio e pepe and the pasta was perfectly al dente with good sized chunks of lobster in it (though I'm pretty sure it wasn't the traditional caciocavallo cheese, it was still delicious). We opted not to do dessert there as we had our hearts set on ice cream somewhere else nearby. Highly recommend for pasta, seafood and excellent, friendly service.
Best baked goods ever. Truly exceptional
The restaurant wasn't bad, but none of us thought that anything we had was particularly good. Clam cakes were especially dull. Crab french fries were limp and oversalted, although the portion was generous. Salami and fried pepper pizza had a nondescript crust. The bread bowl is tiny and not particularly good--whatever unusual flavor is supposed to be in the bread is mostly indistinguishable, although there is some noticeable texture. The best dish we had was the gnocchi.
Another small plates restaurant. Doesn’t stand out from the crowd. As with most restaurants of this type, one ends up spending more money as the portions are half the size or less than a standard meal but the prices are only reduced 25%.
Lights too dim
Very excellent spot in Cambridge. Went for a birthday celebration and it was just perfect. Yummy food. Great drinks. Attentive staff. The flavor combos were surprising, but always tasty. I will definitely come back here.
Food didn’t meet the expectations. Crab fries were overcooked, sauce with lamb shoulder was tasteless and fish pasta was overcooked and extremely spicy. Drinks were also overpriced and didn’t live up to the quality and presentation a $12 drink deserves. Not going there again.
The food was good, but it wasn't "OMG, wow!!!" good, certainly not as good nor inventive as the prices would suggest, The service was friendly, but fairly slow. It's just not as inventive or enjoyable as their sister restaurant Alden & Harlow. And there are plenty of places to get creative seafood dishes that have better food, service, and ambience.
I was really excited when I first found waypoint because their reviews were fantastic. Our server was very sweet however the overall experience was underwhelming. The drinks were great but they had very cheap pours (I understand most cocktails are measured but there’s no reason for my drink to be two inches below the rim for $13/$14) , the oysters were fantastic (no complaints there) the food was mediocre and not what I expected after reading rave reviews from previous customers. (Small portions, bland flavors, no WOW factor) For the price that was paid, Ive been to plenty of other restaurants that make a $200 dinner worth it and this was not it.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner at Waypoint. The staff was friendly and ready to share their preferences for both dishes and cocktails. They were attentive but not hovering over us. It was wonderful. We will be back. Thank you!!
We always enjoy Waypoint. Everything we has was good. I'm not sure if it was special. Oysters perfect. Lobster cacio pepe good but not enough pepper. There was a good amount of lobster. Lump crab caesar salad good but a little boring. Tuna crudo on chickpea pancake was good quality tuna but not a particularly flavorful dish. Bread basket and seaweed butter always tasty. Wood grilled octopus OK but think I like their octopus pasta dish better. We loved having our favorite booth and such nice staff so it's an enjoyable evening even though it got very pricey for dishes that weren't our favorites.
We were a party of 4 and all really enjoyed the meal. The Lobster Cacio e Pepe was outstanding, but all the food was ordered to share and everyone really enjoyed every dish. The drinks were relatively disappointing compared to the food - they were ambitious but did not quite hit the mark.
My only real complain was that being seated next to the kitchen meant that there were piles of plates being banged around literally within inches of our heads, which was extremely loud. I will definitely go back and definitely recommend Waypoint, but would insist in future that we not be seated at the kitchen counter again.
Delicious food, fun drinks, great service and great vibe!
Great food and service. Very Good wine and beverage choices. Lively and casual. We loved it.
Waypoint is one of our perennial favorites restaurants in Boston/Cambridge. Consistently excellent service and food. Love it!
I was blown away by our experience. Absolutely amazing. The restaurant went above and beyond for a very special evening. Couldn’t be happier. The food was incredible! Really impressed.
The lobster roll is really small and not extraordinary enough to specifically get (especially for how much you pay). Portion here is ok. Go for the other dishes or even the pizza. Oysters were good.
