Wayne Steakhouse - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Made reservation for Valentine's day. We drove all the way from West Hartford just to find out that the restaurant was closed due to a power outage. no phone call, no email, no nothing was sent to us to tell us that they were closed and of course everywhere else was booked.
Reservation was for Valentine's Day. We arrived for our meal and discovered a handwritten sign indicating that the restaurant was closed due to snow and power failure. The snowfall had ended at least two days earlier and all roads in Stamford (and the sidewalk in front of the restaurant) were free of snow. All buildings in the neighborhood, including other restaurants were open and had electricity. Neither the restaurant nor OpenTable made any effort to contact me to advise me of the closure. Unprofessional.
This is my second time at Wayne Steakhouse!! The steak was so delicious and juicy. The service is incredible, since I walk inside the make me feel like this is my home. This is the Steakhouse what Stamford needed I would recommend this place to everyone, beautiful restaurant amazing food and great service
Had such a nice dinner with my husband at Wayne Steakhouse restaurant. The food was exquisite, the service absolutely perfect and the ambiance was beautiful. I would definitely go back. Stamford really needed a decent steakhouse and this is definitely the answer to that!!
Best steak ever in Stamford, we ordered Porterhouse for two dry aged , very interesting concept. The steak came on a sizzling plate cooked to perfection, I'm visited couples steak houses but this concept blow my mind. Good job!! Amazing service exellent knowledge
The place was empty on a Saturday night so we should have known. The food was awful. The,bread on the table was so hard it could have been a hockey puck. The steaks were greasy. The plate was black with splattered grease. Very expensive too. I predict this place will be closed in 3 months
Waited 5 minutes to be seated, was finally rushed to a table next to the bar and acted annoyed that I told him we had a reservation so they knew not to hold another table. Waited 5 minutes before someone dropped the menus on the corner of the table without anything resembling even a hello. Waited another 5 minutes without a wine/cocktail menu and without water before standing up to leave. The table next to us shared their experience and told me that it was a good idea to leave as they had been waiting every step of the night.
Exceptional food at a new high-end restaurant with reasonable pricing. We split the large (16 oz) filet mignon (no plate fee to share). We ordered it medium rare and it came out as we had asked. They serve only quality meats. We also ordered the German potatoes which were very tasty. The buffala mozzarella and beefsteak tomatoes were very fresh. Service is still working out the kinks (a little slow at time and unresponsive) but don't let this distract you from enjoying your meal; they have only been in business for a few months. The owner made an extra effort to make things correct. Reasonable $20 corking fee. Nice addition to the Stamford dining scene.
First I'd say the food was excellent. We all had the wedge salad to start which was amazing. After that the steaks came out perfectly done and the sides were very good as well. If your just going for the food then you'll be happy.
If your going for the service and atmosphere then this isn't the place. I understand that it's new but if your going to a steak place that and paying $60 for just the streak you would expect a basic assumption to be true....,maybe the bartender should know the wines they have by the glass or the beer they have. You would also expect to get fresh butter with you bread not the little plastic butter serving you get at a road side dinner. (I would also expect fresh bread) I think you would also expect that the paper towel is put in the dispenser in the washroom. In the end it's the little things that make a difference for a restaurant. Today there are lots of places that can serve a really good steak so if you're going to do well then it's the little things that will make you successful. Unless Wayne's starts to focus on the little things along with the great food then I don't think there will be a restaurant there in the near future.
Saturday night restaurant was empty, should consider valet parking or reimbursement of Target parking fee to entice more guests. Minimal wine list and didn't have first choice. Service lackluster considering few guests in restaurant. Food fair, expected better steak for price charged. Will stick with Capitol Grille.
