With an inspired bar and cocktail list and addictive bar snacks, Waydown is a place for you, from rollicking soirees to the tender nightcap.
Had to locate our server ( 1 server for about 15 tables) to be seated. Otherwise the food and view were spectacular.
Bar food reimagined especially the cauliflower humus .
Drinks were generous and creative.
Great place for after hours drinks and snacks.
We were there when the roof top just opened at 2:00 PM so understandably it was somewhat quiet. Service was great and we enjoyed the experience.
The waiter only took care of us once, no one came back to see if we wanted anything else. But the drinks was disgusting anyways. The view was amazing tho
The night was gay friendly and I didn’t know.
I don’t like this!
Horrible service. Waited 15 min for waitress to get appetizer order of chips and guacamole, and hummus. Waited over 30 minutes for it. Eventually just asked for our tab and left.
I didn’t actually eat or see any food — only had drinks on the patio. But the handcrafted cocktails we got were both terrific and some of the best I had around Chicago all weekend. Would love to go back. Great ambiance and views!
Service was spotty. Long wait for drinks at our table
Great atmosphere, great view and great drinks. A great little secret gem to hang out and enjoy with a fabulous view.
Fantastic Monday Happy Hour with great energy and the best view of Chicago!
We took advantage of $6 Mondays which was a great value. Views of the city are great and the outdoor seating area is very comfortable and spacious. Only downside was that the music (not live) was incredibly loud, even outside, and there were speakers everywhere so it couldn't be avoided. Great place to take out of town guests for a drink and view!
Super cute place with cheap burgers on Monday. If you can snag a spot on the rooftop it would be lovely
Cool vibe, cool people and great service
Waydown is very much a "scene" - you come here either for the view of the city or to see and be seen, but I would never recommend that you come here for the food, drinks, or service. From walking in and having to figure out the bouncer/host situation, to feeling like you're inconveniencing the servers, to having to wait an incredibly long time for food and drinks, it just wasn't a worthwhile experience. They were severely understaffed for a summer Friday afternoon and it just didn't meet my expectations.
Go for the view, which is incredible! We sat outside. The drinks are tasty, but very small pours. The bar snacks are pretty typical. The nuts were unusually good. The wait staff was not particularly friendly. We seemed to be annoying them... maybe because we weren't as young and hip as most of the crowd. But, the view is fabulous!
The views are amazing and the cocktails are fun. The happy hour appetizers were on the smaller side, which was disappointing. Happy to go again.
It's a bad experience because I reserved on OpenTable for a table of 8 people, and I got confirmation of the table, but when we arrived Waydown, we only saw a sign saying: closed till 9pm, for private event. That reservation is for my going away party, and all people are coming from different places, so I had to call each individual that Waydown is closed, and we had to find somewhere else. I wish they could have called me and let me know it's closed beforehand.
We booked a 15 person team meeting at the Waydown several weeks in advance. Was told upon arrival that they had rented out for a private event and didn't have room. Was notified of this change 5 minutes prior to arriving without much care or thought. With enough heads up we could have changed plans.
Great spot to have a rooftop experience without having to worry about the weather. It’s got huge windows so you can see a 180-degree view and then 2 open patios on either side. Chicago weather is so unpredictable so this place is perfect! Drinks were good & affordable depending on what you like. Food is a small selection but pretty much has everything you need.
Great drinks and snacks. Plus I loved the view. Excellent server.
Great Happy Hour spot and the DJ is always on point.
Booked with open table but when we arrived, there was no hostess. We were seated by the bouncers right in front of the DJ. There was also a large corporate group with reserved seating and apparently our first table was actually part of that. So we were relocated to another table where we waited for another 10 minutes for service before I took the initiative to get drinks at the bar.
Apart from the awful wait staff service and disorganization, the views are great and bourbon cocktails are good! Would try again next summer.
