With an inspired bar and cocktail list by industry impresario Caitlin Laman, and really addictive bar snacks from celebrated Chef Pat Sheerin, Waydown is a place for you, from rollicking soirees to the tender nightcap.
The views are amazing and the cocktails are fun. The happy hour appetizers were on the smaller side, which was disappointing. Happy to go again.
It's a bad experience because I reserved on OpenTable for a table of 8 people, and I got confirmation of the table, but when we arrived Waydown, we only saw a sign saying: closed till 9pm, for private event. That reservation is for my going away party, and all people are coming from different places, so I had to call each individual that Waydown is closed, and we had to find somewhere else. I wish they could have called me and let me know it's closed beforehand.
We booked a 15 person team meeting at the Waydown several weeks in advance. Was told upon arrival that they had rented out for a private event and didn't have room. Was notified of this change 5 minutes prior to arriving without much care or thought. With enough heads up we could have changed plans.
Great spot to have a rooftop experience without having to worry about the weather. It’s got huge windows so you can see a 180-degree view and then 2 open patios on either side. Chicago weather is so unpredictable so this place is perfect! Drinks were good & affordable depending on what you like. Food is a small selection but pretty much has everything you need.
Great Happy Hour spot and the DJ is always on point.
Booked with open table but when we arrived, there was no hostess. We were seated by the bouncers right in front of the DJ. There was also a large corporate group with reserved seating and apparently our first table was actually part of that. So we were relocated to another table where we waited for another 10 minutes for service before I took the initiative to get drinks at the bar.
Apart from the awful wait staff service and disorganization, the views are great and bourbon cocktails are good! Would try again next summer.
