Waxy’s Irish Bar + Kitchen Lexington
My sister and I met in Lexington and chose Waxy’s as it was near our hotel and menu looked reasonably priced. Noisiest establishment I have ever been in for dinner. Could not hear each other. Live music was awful. Food ok but I would never go back.
OK place. Food not that exciting but reasonable value. More suited if you want to have pub grub and a pint of beer with friends.
Food was good but I was disappointed that the asian salad on their website menu is not on the real menu. Also, the hostess looked like a slob. She is an attractive woman, but wore sneakers, jeans and a grey t-shirt. With a little effort should could be so much more.
The place was closed when we got there, unfortunately OpenTable was not updated with their "summer hours"
Great disappointment really, Drove all the way over their to find a note on the door
I am so sorry for this. Decisions were made last minute and we sincerely apologize for your wasted time. I would love for you to come in and dine with us so we can change you mind about us. If you do decide to come visit us, I would love for you to ask for me! Thanks for the feedback, Margery Luangrath, AGM
We enjoyed dining out on the patio very much. Initially we were the only ones outside, but it filled up before we were leaving. Service was great! Will be back
Great feedback! I am so glad you enjoyed your experience! We hope you come back to enjoy our patio again before the summer ends! -Margery Luangrath, AGM
I would not recommend this restaurant for food. It may be a great place for drinks, but overall, the food was subpar. I had a crispy chicken sandwich that was okay, but nothing special. Others at the table had fish sandwich, Sheppard's pie, and beef stew. The pie and fish sandwich were decent. The stew came out cold and vegetables were still hard.
Were out of several items. Service was great. Closed up and kicked us out in the middle of the second period of game six of the Stanley Cup Finals, at around 9:15.
Great place for a burger and craft beer.
First off the restaurant was so cold that most people where wearing there jackets and several customers complained that it was cold. We ordered 4 entrees and a salad came out almost ten minutes after the others. The first time our server came back after the other three entrees came out was when the salad came and I sent back my beef stew as it had almost no beef in it. I had ask for a new serving and the waitress came back with the same bowl of stew but had added more beef. Since it had beef plated for 15 minutes it was cold but we didn’t see our server again until the bill came and I had to ask for it to be taken off of the bill. It was a very disappointing experience
I love Waxy’s...been here many times. The Buffet was less than stellar. Chicken in the Marsala was a brick, salmon was over cooked and prime rib was still moo-ing. The breakfast bar was good, but then again how can you mess up breakfast. Desert bar items were cold or frozen. Would NEVER recommend the buffet here!
It started out fairly quiet, but then the noise level went up and it got difficult to hear the conversation.
Food was very good and reasonably priced. Service was great! Band this night was extremely talented...professional.
Great service. I can’t remember the name of our server but she was great
We really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and we had a wonderful waitress!
A little noisy, however it was the start of st Patrick's weekend.
The mustard tube was not cleaned. My friend had a pasta noodle in her corn beef and cabbage. I recommended this place too. I really like the menu also so I don’t think they will go back with me
Enjoyed the ambiance .... quiet night due to winter storm but good food and atmosphere.
Party of 10. The bartenders seemed very disengaged and less interested in the drinks I ordered at the bar before everyone arrived. Throughout the whole event I believe 4 drinks got sent back, mixed and draft. Pretty sure tap lines aren’t clean and maybe bartender knowledge on drinks not that great. If I were tending bar on Friday night I’d be super friendly because that’s a night where tips are big. Our waitress was great but there were some wait issues between rounds of drinks and food and the link. Only our waitress seemed happy to be working there so that could be the issue
Great service, including seating exactly where desired and surprising my friend with a perfect birthday sundae.
I have been to Waxy's several times for business lunches and was always very happy with the food and the service.
On this visit we had a group of 6 meeting for a business holiday lunch, the server that we had was unfriendly and rude. We sat for over 20 minutes after receiving beverages and had to go find her to ask her to take our food order. Once the order was taken, the food came out in stages over a ten minute period of time, making the others all wait until the whole party was served. Once the meals were all served she did not come back and ask how the meal were and again we had to have someone find her to pay our bill.
The food was very good but the service made for an uncomfortable lunch experience with one of our diners stating that they would not be returning to the restaurant.
Noise level fairly high and not even peak for the evening.
Kitchen seemed slow but waitress kept us informed..
Great server. Friendly and attentive Checked on us often. Food was great as well
Unfortunately this used to be a lovely spot and now it is pretty rundown and sad.
the food appears to be mostly frozen foods heated up. Flatbread pizza was puffy pizza like grade school style. really disappointing.
Bathrooms are all beat up, fixtures not working and look dingy. Light fixture in the area where the dart boards are was held up with white paper medical tape... ? seriously.
Only plus, our server was very sweet.
Nice spot to meet for lunch...fast service, good food
Like many places, getting the check squared away at lunch was too slow, esp. when lunching on a schedule.
Too loud. The only outdoor tables available were high-tops, even though I made a reservation stating "outdoors if weather good". So we sat inside. sigh.
The food was great and the service was attentive and friendly. The music volume, both live peformers and piped-in music, was so high that we couldn't talk over it, even after requesting a table as far away as possible from the speakers. A deal breaker, unfortunately.
The food and service was very good however it was so loud that I had to shout at my friend who was sitting next to be and the place was not even that crowded. the band was good could enjoy it better when the crowd thinned out
I have been here before and always enjoyed it. My friends and I usually come at 1 pm for lunch to avoid the crowds. The food is good and different. The draft menu is very good.
My only problem was being seated in a cove with a loud party. Conversation was a problem until they left. There were quieter places where we could have been seated. The party did not get noisy until after we were settled in.
Music was too loud. Beef stew was over cooked and lacking in ingredients. Salmon entree was bland. Cobb salad was very good.
Food is good here ... sometimes it can be loud but the atmosphere is good.
The server was great, the spinach dip could have been hotter, the beer colder, and there was a band or singer who was so loud it made the ambiance OFF. They kept the other music on at the same time which was very tedious. My friend had chicken marsala and liked it and I had the reuben. I think of it as a grilled sandwich and was only disappointed in that it was toasted....I picked off with a fork and it was the BEST corned beef I’ve ever had....lean, tasty, and not too salty!
This is the second time here. Had the Dublin Dip the first time and it was very good.
This time I had the Salmon and I enjoyed it just as much, They changed the giant pretzel app, and I must admit it was not as good as the original. Other meals included the stew and the shepards pie. They both were enjoyable. They are not stingy with the alchol. Kids meals are also good.
What a great place to enjoy St Patrick’s Day eve! The place was rocking with live Irish music and loads of green-clad revelers whooping and singing. The waitress was very prompt and attentive. The food was delicious (I was pleasantly surprised when asked if I wanted my fish for the fish-n-chips baked) especially the Irish soda bread - warm, dense (not dry!) chewy with a side of molasses butter, so good! Really generous, tasty pub food all around. Fun, mixed crowd of bar-goers, couples and families.
The service was personable and outstanding! We went on our lunch break for a birthday celebration.
We came to see Rozwell play, and they did a great job. Draft beer was good. So were the beef stew and fried fish. French fries were like cardboard though. A good place to unwind with friends.
Great service...steaks tips were a hit...spinach appetizer very good...generous serving sizes.
Went there to watch some live entertainment. The food was just okay I had the French dip sandwich for some reason they put a mayonnaise-based dressing on the sandwich which didn't taste good with the au jus. The wait staff was very good they kept filling my water glass
