Was very disappointed, again. I heard from friends that the ownership changed and that the food was much better, as was the service. It's not. Last time here about a year and a half ago, the service and food were nowhere near worth what you pay for. Fish was overcooked and bland. Yesterday I had the Fisherman's Catch during restaurant week. It was supposed to be halibut. Since when are Fishermen catching frozen hockey pucks? I couldn't eat it. The waitress seemed nice, but also completely overwhelmed. Never even asked how the meal was. There seemed to be only 2 waitresses working, and this was during Restaurant Week! My wife ordered the chicken and couldn't eat it either. We had a drink at the bar before sitting down, and that experience was great. I think the bartender was Denise. She was great, as was the bar with the nice comfy chairs and the ballgame right in front of you. I may go back to watch a game at the bar, but never again in that restaurant. Ugh! Beware the nice location.
A Great experience from, the food , service and atmosphere. I highly recommend eating at Danfords for any occasion!
Both our friends and I looked forward to having brunch here again as we had had many times in the past when we went to school in the area. We were sorely disappointed. We had reservations for 10:00 a.m. We had not quite finished our meal at a little after 11:00 a.m. when we were asked us to leave so that could set up for there next session. This was on top of my wife receiving hallandale sauce which had curdled. We were told it was OK. I had opted for an English muffin with my eggs, I was told they had no jam, jelly, or preserves to put on the English muffin. Overall this was now we had experienced in the past.
The food was good, the waiter was pleasant but the bartender took forever with the drinks. It's a very nice setting.
I love the feel of the place. We shared appitizers and was quite pleased with the selection, taste and presentation. The people who had the steaks said they were expertly prepared. and the salmon was done just right. They were happy to accommadate any of our food allergies. I would love to go back.
Wonderful lunch with great service following daughter’s college visit. Particularly enjoyed BBQ shrimp! and Kale salad starters.
A very nice place to sit and enjoy a great meal with friends and delight with the water view and the ferry arrival and departure. Great staff and service.
Not a very large variety of choices compared to other brunches in the area. Disappointed with the limited selections for the money.
Great night , lots of fun
Beautiful views combined with delicious food make this restaurant worth the trip. The happy hour is good too.
I have not been to this location in years and we were so thrilled. This was a family gathering for 5 - post St. Pat's celebration. We enjoyed the bountiful and scrumptious buffet, for what seemed like forever. Nobody rushed us - the service was impeccable (thank you Austin!) and the food was top notch. Can't wait to go back for other meals - I would go to the brunch every Sunday if I could. The decor, the setting, the ambiance are all perfect!
Thank you for a wonderful time - we are all still talking about it days later.
We went there last night with 4 adults and an infant and an 8 year old. Waitress was very patient and accommodating. Food was good, everyone was very patient for our lengthy time to place and order and 2 food allergies. I was very happy with our experience. I haven't been her since 2013 and it's holding up so please visit and enjoy. Menu was varied and good for a diverse group.d
the only drawback to Sunday's Brunch was the over crowded dinning room. We constnatl y had to shift to let other guests pass.
Service was very very good. I think our server''s name was Sean and he was efficient and attentive. No complaints. The restaurant was packed and a few of the stations ran out of food and were not replenished. Thought I could get eggs at a Sunday Brunch but it was not happening. Desserts were wiped out and my friend and I had to split the last piece of cheesecake. The experience was good, but I've been to better brunches with more food and more variety.
A friend and I went for brunch. It was not our first time there. We have always enjoyed the food, service and view. My only complaint was that the restaurant was very crowded. We had a lovely window table with a fabulous view. However it was very difficult to get back and forth to the buffet. I feel they overbooked the room which didn't leave an aisle. Every time I got up, I felt I was inconveniencing those who sat in the only path to the buffet. They were very gracious guests, but I felt a better path should have been planned. That being said, we will definitely be back and recommend it to others.
Awesome Dinner Excellent service.
The best Bloody Mary's Around
Wonderful Atmosphere. I highly Recommend Danfords when you visit Port Jeff
The service was impeccable. The food was exceptional. My experience was great. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Enjoyed it immensely! Take a trip to Port Jefferson and enjoy this gen
This restaurant has a great location overlooking the Port Jefferson ferries. It is elegant yet cozy and warm The food and the service are outstanding! We look forward to our next visit.
It was absolutely wonderful experience and delicious food . Great ambience and friendly staff
Food was Great
Wanted to try Restaurant week here and it was great. Had a great view from our window table, great service from Tara, our server - and the food was great as well. The warm bread pudding dessert is not to be missed - just fantastic!
This was not the first time I dined at Wave and it won't be the last. You have a stunning view of the marina and Long Island Sound. The decor is soft and comfortable, and the bar is long and immaculate. I have never seen a time where the bartender isn't having pleasant chats with patrons. I'm nuts about the wait staff, and they have always been quick to recommend favorite dishes. I'm an appetizer eater...meaning I enjoy several appetizers to make my entree. Wave never fails me with good proteins, great vegetables and all delicious. Their ravioli selections are great! I try a different one each time. Their dessert selection is good, and my current favorite is cappuccino creme brûlée. Book your reservation!
Had lunch with my nieces~ was perfect !! Food, service, view, all worth returning to!!
Nice atmosphere and excellent food. Overhead heater was overbearing and uncomfortable. Tables too close together so wait staff had to reach across table to serve you; tres gauche. Not worthy of a $100 per plate restaurant. Would think twice about a return visit.
Our server was GREAT. He was very patient Out chairs were comfortable and table was a good size but 1/2 way through dinner a woman started singing and it was so loud! We couldn’t really hear one another and one of the reasons we went to a restaurant instead of a club was so we could sit and talk. So next year we will prob choose a different more quite place.
Danford’s has had a reputation in Port Jefferson for upscale dining, hotel, etc. Unfortunately, other than the space, beverage selections/service and cuisine are on par with quality diner fare. Cocktails were served in incorrect glasses and bar ware was cheap. Hard liquor selection was surprisingly limited. Appetizers and main dishes were, again, pedestrian and/or simply not executed as one would expect for fine dining. Example: Atlantic cod served with fennel - the fish was almost cooked properly but arrived cold and was tasteless, served on a surprisingly dense potato-hash bed and surrounded by two small and tough bits of fennel necks. No sauce to speak of. Overall: Very disappointing. The view is lovely but if you’re looking for a quality meal, look for a better alternative.
Very pretty for the holidays,....very good food,....those in my party traveled from the city,...they took booklets,...they plan to return.
The room was freezing the food mediocre and the drinks were very overpriced.
The Wave is our go to place for a business holiday lunch for the last five years. We have always experienced very good service and great food in a festive waterfront atmosphere. We look forward to coming back for many more years to keep the tradition alive but to visit at other times of the year also. Always worth the trip!
I felt the meal was over priced. $8 for a plain baked potato! The steak was ok however, not worth the cost.
Our food was truly outstanding. We especially loved the red wine, the cheesecake dessert (the bet we have ever had), the trout, and the potato leek soup. Our waiter, Austin, was the best we have ever head in our lives. He was so professional, polite, and knowledgeable.
First Visit to Danford's for dinner during Restaurant Week with friends. Everything was exceptional; the food as well as the service. Kudos to our waiter, Austin, who was more than accommodating. He went well above and beyond to make our dinner enjoyable. The new chef prepared a delicious menu with wonderful presentation.
The food was absolutely delicious. The views are exceptional and the waitress was one of the best I’ve ever had. I would definetly recommend the Wave at Danfords.
The food quality this visit (during restaurant week) was very disappointing. Four people in our party of nine had the pork chop, and all found it extremely dry; no one finished their dish! One person had the chicken, which was also overcooked and excessively salty. Those who ordered the short ribs (an $8 surcharge on the price-fix menu) or the salmon were happy with their meals. The service was prompt and efficient. During our last visit the service was extremely slow (also a kitchen problem), and this time it was the food quality. Two strikes...
My wife experienced the resturant week menu. Food was excellent!! Service friendly and proper. I can't wait to return and enjoy the food.
Food was great, service great, will return again!
