Great food and service
Thank you Suzanne! We're very happy to hear you enjoyed your experience with us. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
The food needs to be improved upon. We ordered clams when they arrived they were not shucked properly. The clams were dead!
The crab crustini was bad the crab was off. The shrimp cocktail had no taste.
The fish and chips were delicious.
I apologize for your experience here and I can assure you we only use the best and freshest seafood around. I sincerely hope you are willing to give us another chance to make it up to you. If there's anything I can do for you, please give me a call at 631-928-5200. -Clayton. Restaurant Manager.
The food was okay at best. Definitely not worth what we spent. There are better restaurants in Port Jefferson for the money.
Hello Nicolas, I'm very sorry we didn't meet your expectations, but I assure you we only use the highest quality products and we aim to please all our guests. I sincerely hope you give us another chance to prove ourselves to you.
One other couple at 11am in the restaurant off the hotel lobby. Facility is adjacent to Port Jefferson ferry landing and is part of a high dollar marina. Guessing it can get busy. Sights from our window table of the landing and marina were excellent. Quiet dinning appreciated. Food was perfect. Service was courteous and timely.
Thank you for the review! Glad you enjoyed your meal with us. We look forward to you dining with us again soon.
Food Great, Service great, but if it wasn't for a gift card, i couldn't afford to go. Maybe a little lower price or put on Groupon.
Great food and service !
It was not busy and our server was terrible. Took 20 minutes from seating to get a drink, 25 minutes to get some cold bread, and 30 minutes to get unimpressive appetizers. Thankfully, the main course came out very well. After the lackluster experience, we skipped dessert and got some treats and coffee across the street.
Just a great place overall. We have been coming to danfords and wave since our wedding night 17 years ago. The food is incredible, the staff friendly and professional and the ambience and scenery are everything you would expect from an upper class establishment.
Terrible service waitress did not give us any attention forgot our salad I had a broken glass my soda was in it and when I told them they poured the soda from the broken glass into the new glass what if there was glass still in my soda? Cheep move!!! Food was not good fish salty and fishy steak under cooked also they opened windows and bugs were flying around! We asked for a burger and they would not serve us one because we had to be outside eating? Really? We might as well eaten outside with all the bugs flying around !! I will not be returning! Upsetting because we were celebrating my sisters birthday. They didn’t even make her feel special by singing with us! Expensive for just mediocre food and terrible service! Finally the bathrooms were disgusting!! Before I left I was sure to tell the management. They said they would call house cleaning! Gross!! Shame on this restaurant!!
steak overcooked. desert-very small portion. fish sandy
Server was not warm, almost argumentative. Asked for chicken dish without lettuce of any kind, asked for cooked spinach on side, instead got raw spinach on top, but eventually got the cooked spinach. Just wasn't thrilled with this experience. In times past it was wonderful. Took our boat over with friends who had not eaten there yet. :(
Brunch was amazing. Anthony the food runner did an outstanding job when he restocked everything at brunch.
This was my second time dinning here and this visit was entirely different than the first. My granddaughter, who is from Colorado and doesn't see to many fresh lobsters, and I both ordered two pound lobsters. I'm not sure how close to two pounds one of the lobsters was, while the other was probably in the neighborhood of three pounds. When there are two people at the table, and they both order the same size lobster, there should not be such disparity when they are brought to the table. I hardly think these were the only two they had left. My granddaughter ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes, hers came with corn on the cob and red potatoes. I ordered my with no sides and mine also came with red potatoes and corn. There where no seafood forks available and one of the crackers broke on first us, and it was sometime until our waitress was around so that we could get another one. This all could have been overlooked if the lobsters were good. Unfortunately, they were so over cooked and chewy that we left half of them.
We took the ferry over from Bridgeport just to have lunch at the Wave restaurant and it proved to be a big let down.
We have dined at this restaurant many times but on this particular occasion (which was my birthday), it took 2 hours to get our entrees - and then they weren’t even hot.
We were all very disappointed. Up until this time, we have always enjoyed the food & service at Wave Seafood & Steak but after this experience, we may go elsewhere.
Usually I can't say enough good things about Danford's, and I'm sure that this was just a one time episode; however, my fillet mignon was dry and cold, and the mash potatoes were like glue. The two guests that I was with shared the lobster pot, which probably took at least a half hour to cook. They must have prepared my meal quickly, and it laid around in the kitchen until the other was ready. The ambiance and the service was excellent. As I said I have been there before, and the food was superb. Also, Saturday night in the summer, and the place was crowded. Sorry to complain.
This the LAST time we will dine here. We live close by and each time we hope the service will get better but no. For the price we expect good service (this isn’t NYC after all). The service has always been consistently BAD. Had reservations at 6:15 for 4 people. Our waitress had 2 tables. Two. Took 40 minutes to get our drinks. They arrived after our appetizers. I could go on but our bill was &270 plus tip - 3 appetizers, 4 dinners, 4 drinks. No coffee or dessert. Please. I’m willing to pay but it was a memorable meal for the wrong reason. We’re done with Wave.
Steak was disappointing.
The jumbo crab cake was out of this world. So was the swordfish fresh catch of the day. However, the bronzini (another fresh catch of the day) was rather fishy and not that flavorful. I would just go with swordfish catch of the day. The spinach sausage rigatoni was amazing too. Malbec from Altos Del Plata was a great red wine. Service and ambience was wonderful
If you like to eat this brunch is for you. Unlimited Bloody Mary's and Mimosa's top it off. The cost is very fair and there is a lot of breakfast and lunch choices. Take a walk along the water when you finish you will need it
First time at Wave Seafood & Steak in Port Jefferson and our party of four was very disappointed.
We knew going there that the food and drink were pricey, so we expected good food, service, and attractive interior. The food was not good at all and tasted as if it came from a box or frozen.
The interior was very bland, especially the long large curtain used to block off another room, not classy at all. The service was terrible. We had to stop busboys and other wait staff to find our waitress at least four times. We will not be returning.
Great food. That said,I got an 8 oz filet mignon that wasn’t 3 oz on the plate-and there was nothing on the plate with it.If you’re going to do everything ala carte, and upcharge for everything,at least give the diner a steak that’s a real piece of meat.
My wife and I were visiting Port Jefferson for a wedding, spent several days at Danford’s and were not disappointed. We grabbed appetizers out on the deck the first day while waiting on the room. Exceptional, especially the tuna poke and “stuffies”. It was so good we returned for dinner... twice. Twin lobster tails and the cauliflower steak were incredible. The clam chowder makes a great add on to any meal. Our servers were great, always on top of things. Fantastic weekend, thank you!
Just to start off went there with my family cause was my parent 40th weeding anniversary. Made a reservation at 5pm from OpenTable app and requested a table by the window so we could have a view of the water. We got the table next to the entrance no windows beside the one on my back facing a part of the front yard and just a glimpse of the water. Didn’t make a fuss. The waitress Griselda was a mess to start with. She came to the table 20 times to ask if we were finished. NO WE ARE NOT!!! Get the point!!!
She cleaned the table she dropped the sauce from the mussels all around, missed my mother in low real close. My father got the steak that came with just fried onions on top so I ordered for him a side of fries. My mother the duck which came with rice, my wife and mother in-law the branzino that came with mashed potatoes and I ordered the swordfish that came with mashed potatoes so I requested instead of mashed fried. I got charged $7 for French fries. So when check came I asked the waitress why did I got charged she goes: “ oh we don’t do substitution here but if you want I’ll take it of the check”.
Like hell you should!!! Or you notify me when you take the order that you DONT DO SUBSTITUTIONS!!!
Was a 40th wedding anniversary do you think anyone came with a drink or a piece of cake? NO. Anybody said to the coupe happy anniversary from the staff? NO. And I did mentioned to the hostess and the waitress Griselda.
What a shame spending close to $400 and being treated like : WE DONT CARE”
Shame on the management and the owners for having this low class service attendant.
NEVER AGAIN, Port Jefferson has better places to go and spend my money!!!
You’re paying for the view. Gorgeous waterfront but the food was mediocre.
Food is on the level of Applebees but for higher prices. Dining room tends to be noisy (based on two visits to this place). Nice view of the water and such. Maybe was a busy night, but food took a long time to arrive (resulting in cold mashed potatoes, which they were good enough to waive the bill for).
Slow service and food was cold.
Business dinner party of five. Food was okay, clams on the half shell not nearly chilled enough. Wedge salad was very good as was the Branzino. Regarding Branzino, better restaurants would filet tableside assuming they have proper staff which brings me to the service. Service was less than desirable. Had to ask waitress multiple times for service, was not that busy. When we asked a second time for our srinks waitress threw the bartender under the bus when all along the drinks were sitting waiting to be picked up. We know this because one of our party checked and saw the drinks there and ice was somewhat melted when finally served. Nonetheless we have a nice time even with the shoddy service.
Two of the four entrees were not good at all. I had sent them a private email because I never complain but thought I needed to this time. I got no response. The linguine in clam sauce had no taste and the halibut special was over cooked and very dry. The sauce on it was a paste that was dry as well and had a strong flavor that was too concentrated .
Wonderful meal looking out over the water. Great for families, business meetings, large groups or dates
The seafood was amazing and fresh! I was not disappointed. Also, you gotta try their cheesecake. It’s so creamy and rich. One thing that I was not too happy with was the service. Although the waiter was super nice, the service was a little slow.
My wife and I have been here several times over the years and have had events (100+ people) at Danford’s. This past weekend we went on Saturday and this is what we experienced: A very nice waiter who was covered in sweat to start off. It seemed like all the staff were working hard and I think they were very understaffed. Basic stuff like not having table properly set (asking for bread plates) and taking a long time to get our initial cocktails. Ordered Oysters on half shell as app. Not properly shucked and were actually room temp - not ice cold as they should be. Quality was awful. Ordered wine to be served with our entries and but it did not arrive until we were basically done with dinner. We both had broiled lobster tails and they were pretty good but way over cooked. Desert was cheese cake that was obviously not made their - and had been frozen. Dinner for 2 of us with two drinks each was $220. Still left a 20% tip but for the price, it stunk. Two stars really being generous and likely won’t be back.
The food was beautifully presented but the quality and flavor was lacking for some dishes. The prices are higher but the quality doesn't match to keep the value there. The sunset was the best part.
Went for Sunday Brunch, been there before and enjoyed it each time. Overall was good, but a few issues. Biggest issue was being told at 12:10 that last call for the Buffett was 12:30 for a 11:00 reservation. There was nothing on the restaurant’s website advertising the Buffett that stated there was such a short time. We figured we’d have two hours as the next seating wasn’t until 1:30. We can on the ferry from Ct just for the meal.
The second issue and this is personal, the other guests had no issue with this. The raw bar the past two times there had shrimp, along with clams and oysters in the half shell. There was only shrimp today and the size of the shrimp was much smaller. This really isn’t a big issue except I told my guests that the raw bar was really good and it wasn’t today.
I will come back, it is a relaxing trip to a nice place.
The pasta was mushy and no flavor. The mussels were so small you could hardly see them. Would not recommend.
Not worth the money. Overpriced, small portions and service was slow and not what you would expect for how much you pay to eat there. Food was average at best. Sides were cold and bland, 4 shrimp were average sized. Waitress spilt water all over the table and didn’t say a word about it. Just walked away. Would not go back or recommend.
We have lived in the surrounding community for 20 years and have frequented Danford‘s restaurant venues. We even have had special occasion dinners there. The food has always been adequate to good. But because of the lovely occasion we have always enjoyed it. However July 3 we brought two out of town guests from California. We wanted to treat them to a special dinner. Our stuffed shrimp was cold and the stuffing had no signs of crab or lobster. For the first time my husband and I sent the dish Back. They could not accommodate one guest Who wanted shrimp with oil and garlic. There were no adjustments to the menu at all. Our other guest ordered the swordfish which was like a hockey puck. Our waitress seemed very taxed and overwhelmed, but very friendly. We do not mind spending money on good food. And I am sorry to say we probably won’t be going back.
Our waiter was excellent and came by every few minutes to check on us and will water glasses.
The food was top notch and well prepared. The Caesar salad was the best I have EVER had and my filet mignonette was perfect as well.Their steak sauce was superb too.
Was very Happy with everything Wifey had a nice Birthday!
Service was excellent. Food excellent
