Waterzooi Belgian Bistro Ratings and Reviews
This is a good place to gather with love ones or family and friend. The bar although tight, is the place to be after a long day at work. The food is good and enough to satisfy a big appetite. This was our second time there for a birthday celebration. Funny enough we end up seating at the same spot we had the first time.
Waterzooi is always amazing. The food is UNBELIEVABLE. The wait staff has a constant turn around. I frequent there and always see different waiters and waitresses. The girl we had this time was very unfriendly. We had asked to pay extra for the mussels that weren't on the Restaurant week special (normally they are on a mussel mania special with an extra charge) instead of asking the manager (we were willing to pay the $15) she said no, and kept saying no without even letting us finish out sentence. Isn't the point of Restaurant week to get people to try things at a deal and come back into the restaurant. I mean i've been there but if that were my first time and that was my waitresses response or tone i would probably never come back .
It was a lovely meal followed by wonderful service and ambience. I have been here many times and I brought family to experience this place with me and they truly enjoyed. Will continue to come due to its impeccable food and service. I would recommend for those who like Mac and cheese to try the lobster Mac and cheese, delish! Also, if your in the mood for fall flavors the sweet potato gnocchi is the way to go and the Wellington burger if you enjoy truffles, spit on. Not to mention the dessert. No complaints.
The food is so sub-grade. Our pot of Mussels came out so dry like it was sitting under the heat lamps. Shrimp was over cooks no flavor. My beef dish was drowning in sauce and over salted. Chicken was over cooked as well. It was the most embarrassing business meal. The entire kitchen staff should be fired as well as the expediter who is allowing there over priced food menu to even be served. Let’s see if I even get a response. I’m out to dinner approximately 3 times a week all types of Resturant. Again this Resturant is overprice sub-grade food....
Waterzooi Belgian Bistro exceeded expectations in several areas. The service from our waitress Stephanie, to the bus guys, to the staff that sits you was simply great! Our food was very good to even better. The menu is quite varied and seems to aim to please a large variety of visitors. Once the food is ordered it is brought to the table very rapidly, nice and well prepared, ready to be consumed. It was a very good experience overall. This is not a chi-chi place where the accent is placed on the surroundings. The location in Garden City is in a well heeled area but there is plenty of value for your $. The place is well run and the staff knows what they are doing. Go there, you will like it.
Food was good...mussels weren't as yummy as in the past....menu is pretty much the same over the past decade. If you go during prime time, be prepared for a deafening cacophony of sound in the main room. The bar area is much quieter. Overall given the lack of change and higher prices, I rated it a value of three stars but it's still a very decent place.
Prior to going I heard a lot of great things. I thought it was good, but not as good as it was hyped up to be. My husband and I are always up to try new places and budget typically isn't a concern. The mussel pot was very tasty. Our meals were only somewhat good, not great and not worth the price. And the service was just decent.
My wife and I Lobe this place. We order a mussel pot and had a Spinach artichoke crabmeat dip for app. We also shared a French onion soup. The food is amazing and we always enough to bring home for lunch the next day. I would definitely recommend this place for dinner.
Took over 2 decades to finally make it to this well known brew hall.
Had the crab cakes which was Ok. Date had a salad with steak, which was a bit better. Great beer assortment although limited in styles.
But we will try to return with friends to try the mussels.
One note is the acoustics of the ceiling. It was off putting that the sound carried so clearly from conversations across the room. I would not recommend this as an intimate meeting place.
