Waterzooi Belgian Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Friends meeting for lunch was the occasion. The restaurant was surprisingly not very busy at around noon time but definitely picked up by 12:30. The cuisine is specific to Belgium, and when you stick with their specialties (mussels, french fries (!), Etc.) you won’t go wrong. Parking is easy in the back, the restaurant is nicely appointed & the bathrooms are clean. On the expensive side but definitely a pleasant afternoon.
We took my daughter here at her request, for her birthday. I have worked down the street for years and have only had lunch here. The mussel pots were spectacular! We ordered three different pot, and all were delicious. The service was exceptional and I am definitely coming back here for dinner.
What a great place/experience. Dishes that are certainly not mainstream but with tastes that delight the senses. I must have consumed a lb of bread soaking up all the sauces. The service was a 110%, and unfortunately so was the noise level. We were there late afternoon on a Sunday and it was a packed house. I can understand why and can't wait to go back.
Brought a friend here for her birthday and service was outstanding. We were seated right away for our reservation, and taken care of exactly as requested. This was my second time eating there and it was just as great the second time around. The staff is also outstanding. She loved the food and was very impressed!
Food was great! I was excited to bring my friends here because the food is amazing! They loved the menu, the food and the cocktails but the waiter was M.I.A. most of the time. What would have been a dinner that took an hour, took two because we could never find him. Not sure if it was because they may have been under staffed on a Monday night and it seemed busier than they had anticipated. Not Sure but over all my friends had a good time and would love to come back.
The food is AMAZING!!! I especially Love, love, love the mussels and fries with waterzooie’s unique mayonnaise. Waterzooi is one of our favorite restaurants. The staff is extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The food is superb! I would absolutely recommend visiting Waterzooi!!
I've been here before and enjoyed the delicious mussels. They were very tasty with tomatoes and herbs and wine. The paella mussel dish was interesting with the rice and a very modest amount of seafood on top of the mussels. The baby kale Casear salad was rather bland. I asked for anchovies which I usually have with this type of salad but they did not have it. We were very disappointed with the octopus appetizer. It was so tough that we asked for a steak knive to cut it. We let our server know that it was so tough and he asked if we wanted something else instead. I think he might have offered a dessert.
The brunch was excellent and certainly worth going for. We had the lobster eggs Benedict and it was as good or better than any we have had. Nice right size chunks of lobster, toasted muffin and warm hollandaise sauce. It was served with french fries, and although very good I think they should have offered a more breakfast type potato like home fried or hash brown. The basket of breads and muffins is a very nice touch. The restaurant itself is very nicely appointed and comfortable. We will come back for dinner, the menu looks very inviting. A bit pricey but at least the food does not disappoint.
The ambiance is terrific. The restuarant is fun.The service was outstanding. The portions are large.A pot of mussels and one appetizer was enough food for two of us to share. That makes the price very reasonable. The mussel pot combinations are creative and fun. There is a huge variety of beers on tap .The restaurant is primarily seafood but one of our group ate Short Ribs which were delicious.
This is a good place to gather with love ones or family and friend. The bar although tight, is the place to be after a long day at work. The food is good and enough to satisfy a big appetite. This was our second time there for a birthday celebration. Funny enough we end up seating at the same spot we had the first time.
Waterzooi is always amazing. The food is UNBELIEVABLE. The wait staff has a constant turn around. I frequent there and always see different waiters and waitresses. The girl we had this time was very unfriendly. We had asked to pay extra for the mussels that weren't on the Restaurant week special (normally they are on a mussel mania special with an extra charge) instead of asking the manager (we were willing to pay the $15) she said no, and kept saying no without even letting us finish out sentence. Isn't the point of Restaurant week to get people to try things at a deal and come back into the restaurant. I mean i've been there but if that were my first time and that was my waitresses response or tone i would probably never come back .
It was a lovely meal followed by wonderful service and ambience. I have been here many times and I brought family to experience this place with me and they truly enjoyed. Will continue to come due to its impeccable food and service. I would recommend for those who like Mac and cheese to try the lobster Mac and cheese, delish! Also, if your in the mood for fall flavors the sweet potato gnocchi is the way to go and the Wellington burger if you enjoy truffles, spit on. Not to mention the dessert. No complaints.
The food is so sub-grade. Our pot of Mussels came out so dry like it was sitting under the heat lamps. Shrimp was over cooks no flavor. My beef dish was drowning in sauce and over salted. Chicken was over cooked as well. It was the most embarrassing business meal. The entire kitchen staff should be fired as well as the expediter who is allowing there over priced food menu to even be served. Let’s see if I even get a response. I’m out to dinner approximately 3 times a week all types of Resturant. Again this Resturant is overprice sub-grade food....
Waterzooi Belgian Bistro exceeded expectations in several areas. The service from our waitress Stephanie, to the bus guys, to the staff that sits you was simply great! Our food was very good to even better. The menu is quite varied and seems to aim to please a large variety of visitors. Once the food is ordered it is brought to the table very rapidly, nice and well prepared, ready to be consumed. It was a very good experience overall. This is not a chi-chi place where the accent is placed on the surroundings. The location in Garden City is in a well heeled area but there is plenty of value for your $. The place is well run and the staff knows what they are doing. Go there, you will like it.
