Took a few friends. Hadn’t been in awhile. Glad to go again. Can’t wait for the next time!
Would definitely recommend waterzooi to everyone !
My wife and went to waterzooi to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. The food was amazing. We had never been there before and our waiter made some great suggestions. All the food was delicious. The beer suggestions were great too. We will definitely be back.
Great food and great server Steve . The food was amazing and more than enough to take home .
Usually the service in Waterzooi is very good, specially if you are sitting at the bar. The service last Saturday was really bad. They were in a rush and brought the appetizer and main course at the same time.
Noise level prevented conversation across the table
Food is always tasty but service has gone way downhill.
Waterzooi specializes in shellfish, especially oysters and mussels. My wife enjoyed oysters as an appetizer. I had the "bouillabaise" mussels...a gargantuan pot of mussels in an enormous stew of misc scrambled shellfish. This dish was good but not outstanding and designed more to appeal to the gourmand than the gourmet. It was rather plain without distinctive seasoning and almost intimidating from the sheer quantity. It was plenty for 2 but, if you go with sharing in mind, note that there is a $15 charge. My wife found her scallops entree quite good.
Very loud place wouldn’t recommend for non groups. It was so loud I could barely hear my date. And here really weren’t that many people there
We were seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. The food was delicious and the pumpkin bread pudding was fantastic. Definitely would go back.
Our server Louis was very attentive and made us feel special.
Great food noise level unbearable in
Main dining area everyone screaming to be heard they should open
A window to avoid headaches people eating fast just to leave
The only negative about this restaurant is the noise level. Very loud, poor acoustics.
We have been going to Waterzooi for a while now. The mussels are off the hook and the portions are plentiful! I have never been there on a weeknight where they offer good specials with wine or beer , etc, but froliebds have and say it is great too. Good food, good service...highly recommend esp. if you love mussels. If you go with others who don’t, there are enough other choices on the menu as well.
Overall, really delicious, fresh food. The wine options weren't great (they had one mediocre malbech), but everything else was perfect.
It really outstanding restaurant from A~Z
Very creative menu for food and drinks
Waterzooi has a nice selection of Belgian inspired dishes including more than 10 styles of mussels. Service was quick and attentive. Be warned, the portions are very large. I am a solid eater and could not finish the stewed beef dish (which was delicious). The portions of mussels were the largest I've ever seen. If you want appetizers, I would suggest splitting entrees. Desserts are limited, but good. Expansive wine list. Its a bit pricey overall, but considering the portion size, its a very good value. I would go again.
I love this place! It is just fun. The service is excellent and the food is yummy. The mussel pots can’t be beat.
One of our favorite restaurants!
Food was amazing as usual. The room a bit loud for my liking. Overall a great meal
Fourth time visiting Waterzooi Bistro. I normally receive great food and outstanding service. Not this time, my waitress was a little too bland and seemed to enjoy carrying drinks around with her bare hands. The food was delicious nonetheless. I ordered a Ribeye special which smelled so good I could taste it before I chewed it. Even after not having a flawless service I still recommend Waterzooi Bistro any day of the week. I regret not tipping whoever cooked my steak.
Food was awesome and great service
Not my first time so I noticed they changed the Fondue Appetizer. I liked the one with the Fig Jam in it -- gave it a hint of sweetness. The one I had on Saturday was starchy -- probably had less cheese and more flour or corn starch to thicken it. Didn't like it very much. Missed the old, Cheesy and sweet Fondue. The salad I ordered was very good & plentiful.
Have eaten here many times. For the most part usually have a good meal. This must’ve been an off night although it wasn’t very crowded. Had to send back the sweet potato gnocchi as it was over cooked and inedible. The parpadelle with boar Raghu was sticky and starchy. The best thing is always the mussels, especially the Homard. I think next time we go will just stick to eating mussels.
Restaurant is always noisy when full which makes it hard to hear.
Always great food & service!!
This place never disappoints. I’ve been coming here for the last 6 years and go several times a year for date nights with my honey. We always choose Waterzooi. We normally get a dozen little necks followed by their incredibly delicious lobster Mac n cheese and for our entree we each choose one of their mussel pots, which by the way are all superb.
For my moms birthday brunch/linner 7 of is went to this Belgium spot. Service was friendly, accommodating (as I had added a party member last minute) and waiter knowledgeable. The food was fresh and delicious, the oyster mix we had was superb. Slightly pricey but not for the area it was in. The restaurant was clean and spacious in spite of being busy.
One of my favorite spots. Mussel pots are huge at least 2 lbs. We usually get an app and share a pot. This time we tried the boullibase which included baby shrimp and crabmeat in a light tomato broth absolutely delish!
Food was very good, ordered the pot of mussels, very large portion and it was delicious.
Excellent food and service , highly recommend . Very loud, tough to converse with others . Loved the muscles with lobster meat , outstanding!
We went for lunch at 3pm. Resturant was almost empty . We were seated and given water and bread right away. Waited almost ten minutes and went to find person ask for server we to take drink order. After 10 more minutes waitress came. Mussels were delicious . Calamari okay . No bus boy or waitress came by to check on us. Table wasn’t cleared of mussels before entrees came. We could see waitress eating at bar instead of working. Waitress was condescending when we asked that mussels be cleared. Burgers okay but got cheese wrong and no one liked the blue cheese so they didn’t eat themselves waitress asked if we wanted them recooked but we didn’t have any more time as it took sooo long. Didn’t offered to take anything off bill and asked if we wanted burgers no one ate. The French fries were good, but not Pomme frites as they are advertising, which are much smaller thinner etc.
Would not go back.
Came here with my husband for date night. Had a great experience and loved the food. The noise level definitely increased as it gets later and makes it hard to hear each other. I had the Homard mussels pot it was delicious and my hubby had the rib eye special that was cooked to perfection #mediumrare. We enjoyed ourselves to say the least.
Well I was not impressed. Went there for husbands birthday. Had reservations for 7:15pm Saturday and we were seated right away so that was good. And we got a table in the corner which was also good. We ordered spinach crab artichoke dip and this was excellent. But that’s where the good stopped. It was so loud we had to yell and even then we couldn’t hear each other. NEVER AGAIN will we go there. Also the entrees were mediocre at best. I had salmon and my husband had short rib. Neither of us were impressed. We will not be going back.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. It is consistently good. I've been there for private parties, NYE and normal weekend meals and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend the Waterzooi entrée and the Belgium Waffles for dessert.
They started to clean off the table while we were still eating. When I told the manager he stared blankly at me (as if he had was having trouble understanding why that would be annoying) and wished me a lovely evening in a sarcastic tone. Not good!
Food is good but noise level deafening. Cannot hear your table mates. Everyone shouting.
Delicious food and drink!!
great drinks, wish there were more sours on tap but you are here for the mussels
We celebrated my husband’s milestone birthday at the restaurant with our family. I called in advance requesting an attentive server. We got a great table, a wonderful server and delicious food. The oysters were so fresh and such a diverse variety to pick from. Everybody in our group was pleased with their dishes especially their mussels pot entrees. The ribeye and the lobster Mac n Cheese appetizer was so yummy. Everything was perfect! Definitely will come back. Highly recommend it for a fun night.
Best mussels on Long Island
Amazing service. The waiter was very knowledgeable and made amazing recommendations. I had the mahi mahi specialty tacos and they were amazing. Also ordered oysters and they were extremely fresh and fairly priced. Will definitely be coming here again!
