Waterstreet Cafe & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Food was ok, seemed like it took a long time to prepare one burger and a salad with 2 shrimp.
Did not care for the bacon jam+some sort of cheese on the burger, and I am a bacon and cheese fan of most varieties - like it was too sweet and stinky at the same time. 2 Shrimp Fava Bean salad was way over priced for the size of the 2 shrimp.
Waterstreet Cafe is our favorite restaurant in Olympia! The food and service are always outstanding. The servers always make our experience memorable, they truly focus on the details. By far the best food we've had in Olympia, be sure to try the pork belly and creme brulee! Thank you for making our Valentine's Day very special. <3 <3 <3
We dined here on Valentine's Day and it was delightful to say the least... the food was amazing, cocktails amazing and so was the waitress. We have dined here in the past but its been awhile since our last visit. As we dined and the meal kept getting better and better, we couldn't remember why we waited so long before returning. At that point, we decided to put it on our date night list of places we love to eat. See you all soon.
I was vacationing in Olympia and needed a high quality, cozy and quaint place to treat my mother and sisters. I was referred to Waterstreet Cafe and was delightfully satisfied with our service from step A-Z. Reservations were very easy to make via 'open table' which I was guided to when I googled "Waterstreet in Olympia". We were greeted warmly by our host and quickly escorted to our table. Anthony Modest was our server and he was both kind and accommodating to each and every need we had. It wasn't hard to leave him a good tip!
I could go on. Waterstreet Cafe is definitely a gem in the small town of Olympia. I would recommend this venue for any special occasion or even simple every day dining.
I recommend absolutely everything from the private large spaces to the cocktails. The food was amazing!!! Cauliflower appetizer, sirloin entrie, Italian meatloaf and duck were fabulous. I do not recommend the vegan Cajun Mac , too spicy, needed salt and the texture was off. All food and drink where an 9/10 but the mac was 3/10. Highly recommend!!!!
Outstanding service, nice handmade cocktails. The menu doesn't seem to have changed in years & they were out of a couple of items. I had lamb ragu, others in my party the mac & cheese (which didn't seem at all like mac & cheese) & meatloaf. The food was good but it is a more competitive marketplace now & I think they need to step up the dining a bit. Not many options on the menu. The food was tasty but not something I'm writing in my memory book.
Went here for dinner for the first time. I like the ambience of the place and the fireplace. We sat against the wall near the kitchen and I like seeing how open and busy the kitchen is. Our waiter was nice and service was a little above average. We were served bread with balsamic vinegar and oil.
Tuna Tartare - (Love tuna! But very disappointed in this, just plain and boring)
Steamed Clams - (Meaty and delicious but a little salty)
Pork Belly - (Delicious)
Painted Hills 8 oz Beef Tenderloin (Cooked Medium Rare, delicious!)
Seared Duck Breast (Cooked Medium Well, Yum!)
No Desserts Ordered
Water street is reliable, tasty, and I recommend if you're looking for a more refined but not stuffy dining experience in Olympia. And the outdoor area when it's not too cold is great. For a long-established restaurant, though, the service can be really spotty--everyone is nice and welcoming, but this is the third time I had so-so service. Nothing outlandish, just sometimes being forgotten about, food sitting under the lamp for a while since the server seemed to get distracted and forget, taking forever to get water at the start, and having to ask for the bill several times at the end. It just makes the overall experience a little glitchy, though I will still go back (again and again). I just have to always be ready to be patient, and it's not a great option if you need to be somewhere after.
The semi-regular business dinners I coordinate are always held in one of the private dining rooms near the restaurant entrance. The service is great and the food never disappoints.
I've also held a retirement party in the Wine Room (private room to the back of the restaurant). This was a really special event -- the room was completely private, the service was exceptional, matched only by the quality of the food and drinks.
I highly recommend this location for lunch, dinner, as well as special events!
We go for my birthday and we have the cheese plate and salads and I try some of your specialty drinks. The drinks were great but the cheese plate wasn't as good as usual. The cheeses were okay but weren't as varied as we have had in the past. The surprising hot condiment was not anticipated. The olive medley was excellent. Service was good and we like sitting outside.
This was a first visit here for a girlfriends' lunch date. We walked past it several times since there wasn't a sign anywhere on the door or out front that said Water Street Cafe. I finally asked a young man headed into the yoga studio around the corner.
The inside was very clean and smartly decorated. I assumed this would be a busy location for lunch, but there were only two other couples there for lunch besides us. The waitress was cordial, but did offer to let my girlfriend borrow quarters for parking, although she ended up not needing them.
I had a goat cheese creamy bisque soup and butternut squash ravioli. The food was good, but not exceptional. My girlfriend had a steak salad, but didn't say if it was very good or not.
I will probably try the restaurant one more time to decide if it is worth being a regular place for lunch dates.
We were passing through town and came up this restaurant. We both enjoyed everything about the restaurant. We are outside and the restaurant wasn't packed, so the noise level was quiet. The clams were perfectly cooked, beet salad was filling and flavorful-a very nice portion. My husband had the coconut crusted snapper, which he liked. The peanut butter and chocolate tart was delicious.
Enjoyable evening. A large and noisy group moved into the table next to us, and it made it very difficult to hear. we were able to move our tables down a bit, but it was still very noisy. We were outside, and the loud voices next to us made it difficult for us to hear ourselves talk.
Our waitress was great, but overworked as it was just her and one other waitperson.
Food was great.
It had been awhile since our last visit and selected for our Anniversary celebration. First and foremost; Staffers are cordial, attentive and delightful. Service was excellent, kudos to Keli. This was the saving grace for a rather mundane meal. We were told of a revised, minimal menu which was found lacking. Very light on seafood offerings. We settled on a Snapper dish and Roast Duck. Presentation was appreciated, but otherwise unremarkable. The highlight of the meal was the Steamed clams appy for its flavor, but it too was minimal in approach. We prefer to patronize our local establishments and will likely visit Water Street again. More likely for Happy Hour and the Bar menu selections, given the limitations of revised dinner menu.
