Waters Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Waters is an exceptional dining experience. The food is amazing from start to finish. The environment, service, and experience has no equal. Whether your looking for a romantic dinner, a business meal, or a bite before a show, Waters is definitely worth your time. Don’t miss out!
Love John Bonnell’s restaurants. We used to go to Waters when it was on Crocket Street and loved it but it was out of place there. This location is much better.
I started with “The Dirty Dozen” which is 2 of each of the 6 different kinds of oysters on the half shell. Great choice since they were half price. Loved the ones from Duxbury, MA the best. I had the Cajun scallops for my meal. Super good choice. Loved them.
My wife had the salmon. She thought it was the best. Good size piece of fish. She brought half back home.
Overall, highly recommend. Bit pricey but well worth it.
We dined with a relatively large group (8) on the night before a holiday (Thanksgiving.) The food was delicious, we shared several appetizers and they even made one by special request. The main dishes were great! We were slightly disappointed because there was only one left of the special and two of us ordered, but they split the plate for us and let us share the special with another dish. The service was wonderful.
On top of that, two of our guests were deaf and one was hard of hearing and the waitstaff was very patient and attentive, everyone felt welcome. Thank you Waters for a lovely evening with friends.
Atmosphere is kind of stuffy. No personality. Fine dining. Eat. Go.
The food was good. Our server was good. Many people go out for the experience and atmosphere as well. This lacked that all together. If I could do tonight over again, I would go to Mercury Chophouse for a second time or Eddie V’s for the second time. Was a bit disappointed.
20th Anniversary. Started with the "Dirty Dozen" which was very, very good. Oysters from six different locations. Perfect for the two of us to try together. One oyster was on the small size and the wait staff quickly replaced it with 2 of the same. Next, we tried the calamari and it was good. The big WOW for me was the Halibut! I am sure I will be craving it next week. Heck, I'm craving it now! Husband had the Yellow Fin and was pleased. Our reservations were for a bar table and it was just fine. I might even say it was better than a table because it seemed more intimate. The main tables appeared to be too close to your "neighbor". If your going to Ft. Worth, this place is a must stop!
The food & service were outstanding. Had the halibut with gnocchi & it was divine. Calamari is some of the best I have had (& I have had a lot). I have The Waters cookbook & have done the crab cakes multiple times. I really wanted to see if the ones served at the restaurant are as good as preparing them at home, but decided to I should try something else. Glad I did but next time I will have a taste test because the crab cake recipe is absolutely stellar.
I wanted to love it! It was my 2nd time. The first was better, but not great. My friend had fish and chips and had to pull a strip of dark flesh off before she could eat it. I had a crab cake BLT, very little crab and very difficult to eat. The place has potential, but is not reaching it. The lemon icebox cheesecake was fantastic.
Knowing that this is FORT Worth, not PORT Worth, you wouldn't expect to find such great oyster dishes and seafood downtown. Surprise! Jon Bonnell has moved from Seventh Street and brought the best of the best with him. Slightly expensive, but offset by reasonable prices on wine. Setting and service equally wonderful.
First time coming to Waters and was a little bit skeptical seeing as we easily got a reservation (2 hours prior to arrival) and the bar was almost empty at 6:30PM on a Saturday when we arrived. But then we realized TCU had a home game and could have impacted the bar scene.
Both bartenders were very friendly and made GREAT drinks. Had an oyster sampler at the bar and they were very fresh.
Went to our table and had the fried calamari appetizer and was probably the best we have ever had. Wife had a salad and absolutely loved it. Entree filet and king crab legs were excellent, as were the sides. Would definitely recommend trying them out as everything we had was great, and service was as good as you will find anywhere.
The ceasar salads had yellow lettuce and mounds of parmesan cheese on it and definitely not worth $9. My husband’s chicken was dry and my crab cakes were burnt. The lobster Mac and cheese was definitely not worth $19. The cheese was watery and not what I expected. Overall- was very disappointed and I expected more. Will not recommend this to anyone.
I live in Italy and was in FW just for one week. i wanted a good restaurant down town, I like fish and smart people. i asked for a piece of advice and was recommended to go to Waters. I did it and have been very much satisfied. the quality of fish was super as well as the way it was cooked. if I go back to FW I will go back to Waters for sure. good job Waters! keep on doing so.
We were referred by our hotel but were not expecting too much since it was a fairly new restaurant. We were treated so well by all the staff and very impressed with the lovely setting. Our service was excellent and food was outstanding. We both had the specials, veal and sea bass. Couldn’t have been better. A special anniversary evening.
This was our first visit to Waters, and it was to celebrate our anniversary. All told, both my wife and I enjoyed the food very much. And the server was prompt and polite. But the overall experience was a bit disappointing in that we were there for a relaxing celebration, but found ourselves halfway through our meal and we'd only been in the restaurant for 40 minutes! And neither my wife or I like the tight quarters when sitting along the windows on the bench seat. It just feels too close to the next couple/table. And, it was a bit noisy as well. We'll probably try it again, but this time was not the experience we anticipated.
Started off with Texafellar Oysters. Very good. Halibut special was excellent. Crab cakes were good, but could use a little less tartar sauce on the plate. (They were served on a bed of tartar sauce). Carrot Cake for dessert was excellent. Overall - very nice place, great wine list, excellent food. Superb service.
This was our second visit. Our first at the new location. All was great except our food server went MIA after bringing our appetizers. My husband wanted more delicious oysters and we had to ask another server to help us. And then later after receiving our entree, she was not as attentive as I would have expected in an upper scale restaurant. This dinner was for my husband’s birthday, and she didn’t even ask us if we were celebrating a special event. My reservations noted a birthday and it was never mentioned. The food was excellent but I was let down a bit by service, as I was at our first visit to the restaurant. We will return but we think we’ll try sitting at the bar for lunch.
Great choices of grilled or fried treasures of the sea. The salad with crab and avocado was heavenly. I saw a waiter carrying a burger to a table. Next time I am getting that, it looked AMAZING. Attentive waitstaff, scrumptious lunch menu. Will definatley be going back to try more of the menu!
Nice setting; Table was ready when we arrived on-time for dinner; Great oysters, we shared six texafella and 12 black point on the half shell; two meals no issue. One of these had a second glass of wine arrive several minutes late, the St Barbara stone crab claws were served without shelling pliers or a crab fork. Had to ask for both. The scallops were extremely salty. The person said they were cooked perfectly, but too salty. One of the party tested the scallops and agreed. Only one scallop was eaten. The ticket was comped the scallops. Very nice of the manager.
