Food was really good, but really expensive. First $300 dinner (for 2 people), ive had in a long time, and we only had 2 drinks each. Place was dead in the bar area, too. Way too quiet. Service was fine....waiter was nice enough, but I felt like we got forgotten a few times because we were in the bar area and not the main dining room.
Finally, valet parking is NOT validated, so was more than a little surprised to be paying ANOTHER $30, on top of our $300 dinner, to have the car parked. That's not standard anywhere I have ever been - valet is included if your dropping your car off right outside the restaurant, which we did. The oysters were really, really good.
Waters never disappoints. Our favorite restaurant in downtown Fort Worth. This visit was no exception and reminds us of why we dine at Waters when in Fort Worth. Had not been since Covid outbreak. Delighted to have been able to return.
Everything was great. Food was only a four as they took a bit long to bring us the entrees. But it tasted fabulous.
The Dirty Dozen is always a great starter. We split an avocado and crab meat salad that was a perfect portion for enjoying the rest of the meal. The crab cakes were delicious
Everything at this restaurant is top notch- the food is plated beautifully! The flavors are superb and the seafood is fresh. Portions may be a little on the small side if you have a hefty appetite. The service is exquisite and they check on you regularly but not too often. It’s a favorite restaurant to dine at prior to a show at Bass Hall.
Our outdoor experience with the wine and brine was fantastic ( (our server was Trey (we think with longer curly dark hair): I will say, when we went inside for dinner, our server wasn’t as great. Food was amazing:
We ate here before going to Bass Hall. The services was great and the food was delicious. We ordered from the happy hour menu and there was plenty of food.
It was all fabulous!
It has been about 3 years since we had been to Waters and used to love it. However, last night has changed our minds about going back. My husband & I both had the fish and chips, my husband had a salad, and we both had 1 drink. The bill including tip was $160! The fish sat upon the french fries and they were greasy and soggy. We had requested more bread but it never came. It was a Tuesday night so it wasn't that busy but the service was just "ok". This is not what we were expecting from a Bonnell restaurant.
Celebrated our son's birthday. Our seafood tower appetizer had more seafood than expected and was delicious. Our meal was good right down to dessert. We will happily visit them again.
Waters is always a great place. Chef Jon Bonnell does a great job with his menu. I highly recommend the fried oysters "Texasfellers"
After having purchased two cookbooks from chef Bonnell, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to dine at Waters. The food and service was sterling. I will say the valet parking situation was most convoluted, required so much work on the patron to answer numerous questions to get the car upon leaving the restaurant. And you have to enter your credit card through an unsecured system from your phone to pay for parking. Most disturbing.
Loved Elaine and the entire team!
Perfect place to celebrate my husbands birthday. Food was amazing, wait staff attentive, pace of meal was perfect. We can’t wait to go back
It was our anniversary and nothing was done or mentioned about it besides an envelope we were handed when we sat down. At other restaurants of this caliber , we have had them at least recognize that is was our anniversary . Also We had an 8:45 reservation and were told the kitchen closes at 9 by our server . My husband complained and they did go out of their way to not rush us and several managers checked on us .
As far as the food - the bread and Caesar salad were outstanding as was the appetizer crab cake. The steak and lobster were perfect . The gumbo was just ok and the dirty rice wasn’t great .
Expected more after seeing previous reviews and after researching for our anniversary.
great food and cool environment.. only complaint was that we were constantly interrupted during our meal, staff asking if they could take our plates off the table. Even though we were still clearly eating our food. One staff member didn't even ask and attempted to take the plate while I still had a fork in my hand eating. we felt rushed by staff constantly asking to take our plates. Initially it wasn't an issue but we were approached at least 5x during our meal. I understand if our plates were empty and clear of food but we were obviously still eating. Our waiter was awesome but the people bussing tables were very annoying. felt like we couldn't enjoy our meal without constantly being interrupted about removing plates from the table. Food was great tho!
The restaurant was nice and our server was very friendly and helpful. Overall, the food was just average. The steak was under seasoned and the halibut, being a very meaty fish, needed more sauce than the tablespoon I was given. Both were overcooked as well (fish was dry). When I asked for more sauce, it was an up charge, which I thought was more typical of a chain Tex-Mex place where they charge you for sour cream. Sauces for entrees should be served on the plate AND on the side in “upscale” restaurants. We wanted to try a local place but was wishing we had booked at Eddie V’s instead. It wasn’t a bad experience, just expected a little more attention to the food for the price.
The Arctic char was a bit salty and I probably wouldn’t order it again. It was still delicious!
A real gem in downtown Ft Worth. Everything was first rate. We were staying across the street at the Worthington Renaissance for a reunion. We told everyone in our group about it and they raved as well. We will be back!
Everything and everyone was absolutely amazing! Truly appreciate y’all we’re able to get us in last minute for my birthday dinner
The best place for a special occasion, or to take care of special friends
All good. Alejandro was excellent.
Hubby and wifey date night. Trying new places. We are for sure going to turn into regulars at this place. Great place for seafood when your craving it and just going out to sit at the bar for a drink and appetizers. Very good place.
We went for our anniversary. The host and waiter mentioned our anniversary separately and they gave us a card which I thought was a nice touch. The food and service were incredible and the atmosphere was great. Quiet but fun. Absolutely recommend Waters to anyone trying to decide where to go
Our drinks were spooktacular this Halloween!! #spookyspirits #hallowine
Excellent food and service. No one ever made us feel rushed. Can’t wait to go back.
Food was amazing. Waitstaff seemed confused and made a lot of mistakes. We waited almost 15 minutes before our drink order was taken.
I thought everything was going to be smooth and simple. Saw an ad for Wine & Brine, a Friday wine and nosh offering. I clicked link to reserve for Wine & Brine. That took me to the opentable reservation and I selected bar as we were going to do this as a happy hour at 4:00. Sounds easy enough.
I had reserved this two weeks prior to the date. When we arrived, the hostess told us it had been cancelled. Uh….? Then she looks at the reservation and snippily says “besides, your reservation is for the bar” (yes little girl, that’s where I assume you would seat people who are going to have a couple of glasses of wine at 4:00pm).
When I ask what the plan is since they cancelled, she just looks at me like she just found out she has an STD.
Because my companion drove in from Denton, we decide to stay and have a cocktail. The waiter was SO NICE and apologetic. My friend ordered a dirty martini and ordered some honeysuckle rum drink. The drinks came out in stainless martini glasses - very promising. Unfortunately, the drinks weren’t particularly cold. Mine was def boring. About that time, they offered us the wine from previous weeks event. We paid $30 for the bottle.
For appetizers, we were reluctant to try the ceviche since the drinks were disappointing and we like our ceviche cold and fresh. So, we had the artichoke crab dip - FANTASTIC and some jalapeño corn hush puppies DELISH.
In summary, the hostess needs some customer service training - the first person you encounter has a huge impact on the overall experience. The waiter was great and the woman responsible for wine and dine was quite affable.
Have never had anything but exceptional food and service here.
We had a lovely dinner, starting with their Dirty Dozen oyster platter and ending with the brownie dessert. The wine list was great and service attentive.
Waters met the expectations that I had walking in with the knowledge I had of the ownership of the restaurant. The service was great, the food fantastic, and the pace from sitting down, to drinks/eating, and then leaving was exactly what I needed/expected,
We picked waters for an anniversary dinner. Made the reservation and chose the patio seating when reserving.
When we arrived we went to the hostess stand and we were seated immediately on the patio. We got to the patio area and the hostess said just said pick a table….. so we found a smaller 4 top table, no plates or silver wear.
We waiting about 7 minutes before anyone came by as wait staff was all over but none stopping at our table. Finally the bartender came over and poured some waters.
We ordered an appetizer which came quickly and was good, shrimp cocktail. We ordered the special and grilled red snapper. The snapper was good but a little too charred or tough to cut not what I’m accustomed to.
My wife had the special and the crab cake was amazing, the one scallop was average and the steak was on par with what it should be.
The service was slow and once we received our food we didn’t see anyone for a log while. Drinks were empty and we were ready for dessert. Once we did finally have someone stop we ordered dessert and it was good but not great.
No one ever recognized our anniversary which was shocking for a place of this scale. Usually higher end restaurants will recognize why you are there.
All in all I can’t say I’d recommend or return to waters. We loved Bonnells when we’ve been. I know times are different but taking all things into consideration this was an avg experience for an upscale price. $200 and only 1 alcoholic beverage was ordered.
Snapper, which we’ve had in the past and loved, this evening was dried out and poor quality.
Lovely Evening! The patio was perfect. The service was attentive without being intrusive. The food was beautifully presented and delicious.
For an expensive place , which we expected , the entrees were dry and lacked flavor. We won’t be back
What a great night! We sat on the patio for Happy Hour at a very comfortable table...we thought we could be there all night!! Service was friendly and prompt. The food was delicious. We were a party of 4 and ordered pretty much everything on the Bar Menu except for oysters. Perfect amount of food and everything was delicious. I can't say enough about the service. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Terrific night and will definitely come back.
We always go for happy hour Love the dirty dozen oysters and calamari
Are usually get very good reviews, however, our service was expedited. I felt as if they didn’t even want us to be there. What is the Bardonna 10 PM. On a weekend
