Beautiful water front restaurant with incredible views of Ventura Harbor and the most stunning sunsets anywhere in Southern California. Fresh seafood from the fishing boats to our kitchens and moderately priced for our customers.

The entire choices for brunch were nicely varied and not overwhelming. Our group had the chicken (moist and tasty) and waffles, crab cakes eggs Benedict, and lobster ravioli--and all were pronounced delicious. You have the option of bottomless mimosas, and the server was attentive to keeping the glasses topped off. Finally, the view of the harbor is beautiful, yet lively with kayak's, ski-doo's, sailboats and other sea craft. We could have sat there all day.
Staff were chalkenged by the big turnout for Thanksgiving and some customers taking longer to leave than was planned for, resulting in 30 minute delays in seating. But there was the bar. From which we were seamlessly transferred with our drinks to the table. Nice family and friends buzz in the room (but no children seemed present) as well as couples like us. Staff were admirably efficient and amiable, the food and drinks very good. We look forward to returning.
Seated people without reservations, appetizer and salad not served before main course, limited us to 90 minutes and they were slow getting food out of the kitchen, not prepared for their reservation people, seated us in the bar where it was so dark we could not see our food, put the food on the table with no set ups, no light on the table. Confronted manager who said that he could not just let 50 people go hungry just because they had no reservation. Complete chaos, horrible experience, they did comp one of our meals.
DINING AT WATER'S EDGE IS A THERAPEUTIC EXPERIENCE: THE FRIENDLY STAFF, THE FOOD, THE ATMOSPHERE AND THE AMAZING SUNSETS
Thanks for a lovely Thanksgiving meal.
Excellent meal experience from start to finish!
It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it looks like an upscale, classy place on the inside. There's a nice view of the harbor and we watched a beautiful sunset over the Pacific.
I loved that our server said the special was red snapper caught on THAT boat (pointing to a boat just outside the window) by THAT fisherman, Tony in the blue shirt (pointing to a guy on the dock talking with some other fishermen). You can't get much fresher than that. I thought the red snapper was extraordinarily good.
My wife had a caprese salad, but the tomatoes were very cold, almost frozen. She also had the lobster bisque. There was something off about the lobster bisque. Not necessarily bad, just a different taste from what we're used to in New England.
Everything on the menu sounded delicious, but it was significantly more expensive than we were expecting - like $40 to $50 entrees. I was surprised the red snapper special was only $29.
The service was very good. Our server knew her stuff and was very friendly and enthusiastic. It wasn't very busy on a Sunday night, but there were a few times through the course of the meal we waited long enough to notice and wonder, "where's our server?"
Happy Hour with 7 friend. Delicious appetizers, nice view, very relaxing.
Great dining experience - got place when I'm in town
Coco was awesome! The restaurant marks a special occasion with a balloon and a free dessert. Menu has a range of dishes for everyone.
Great food, good service, and a fantastic view. We've never been disappointed when we come here for lunch or dinner.
Thanks to OpenTable we found another new restaurant to go back to! Went for lunch and enjoyed the ahi tacos with chipotle coleslaw.
The waiter took our order for beverages we asked him to bring an appetizer to be brought at the same time. He left returning a short time later to take our entree order. He assured us twice that the entree would be brought after we had finished the appetizer. The appetizer arrived, before we had a chance to take the first bite the entree arrived. Would have been nice to have had a wait between the two.
The noise level is such that you can't have a conversation
We had outstanding service from our server, Coco. We were greeted and the door was opened for us upon arrival. Everyone was fabulous and the food was excellent. The view of the harbor and the sunset was beautiful. We really enjoyed our experience and would recommend it. Thank you!
A unique restaurant with an amazing harbor view. Dishes are creative and the seafood specials are often right off the boat.
The service in the bar and restaurant was very good. I had the sea bass which didn’t have a lot of flavor. Everyone else in our party of 8 seemed fine with their meals. Two big disappointments. 1. I was charged $3 per slice of cake. That was $24, the same as the price of the cake. That was not disclosed to me when I gave your employee the cake to keep for me. Had I known, I would have taken it home. 2. The fact that the tip was included was not known to me, as I didn’t see the entire bill, and several of us added the 20% tip as we split the bill 3 ways in my case. This means we double tipped. I was not happy when another in our party informed me later. Thanks for listening.
All food was way over salted. Steak was maybe choIce cut. Portions very small. The mgr/marketing guy gave slight discount on food. He said they are closing down to re-open and they should. They need a chef. Someone who understands food. $42 for Branzino that’s Top notch prices for poor salty food.
Our reservation with Open Table was recognized when we arrived (on time). After being seated near the
boat dock (and window), we waited at least ten minutes until a waiter (perhaps "Mr. In-Charge") came to our table with a small plate of toast and said "our waiter" would attend to us soon. Our waiter arrived about five minutes later, told us what the specials were, and took our drink order. Without continuing to drag out this review, suffice it to say the service was very slow, but the food was very good, especially the cream of mushroom soup and the crab cakes.
Very enjoyable happy hour on patio, then birthday dinner.
Morgan was great.
I do think the patio has too much sun in places, and the umbrella did not bend to block it. Only issue.
Great service - especially the waitress and her male asst.
Rhumb Line created a wonderful experience for my wife and I as we celebrated five years of marriage. It was a night we will never forget. The service went above and beyond to make it a special day. They even wrote happy anniversary on our dessert plate.
This is a beautiful oceanfront restaurant/bar. Great happy hour menu and pricing. Out server CoCo is amazing. She is usually our server and we appreciate her. On this occasion the restaurant was very busy, which is great. That's what they want. Service with bus personnel was exceptionally slow and unprofessional. We waited over 45 minutes for our entrees. When they arrived our salad/soup appetizer plates were still there. Bread was never offered. The food was good. Just a bad experience. They need more people working to keep up with the traffic. We will try happy hour next time.
This is my favorite restaurant in Ventura!❤️ The staff is professional yet personable and every time feels special.
Great dinner! Love the sand dabs and the view of the harbor. Going during the week is the best. It is quiet and easy to get a window table.
Service was so slow. Didn’t get a menu until we had been seated for 15 minutes. Seems like wait staff all had something more important to do. Management did stop by twice to ask how we were doing. Disappointing after a few good meals there.
Excellent meal and experience. Went with a group of six and everything was excellent. Would definitely recommend and will go back.
Very much enjoyed our 47th anniversary dinner. The service was wonderful from our waitress taking our order to the person serving our food and the gentleman making sure we had ice, a clean table, etc. Tony, one of the associate owners stopped by to ask about our food. He was very friendly and personable. The food was delicious! We had seafood pasta and chicken with pasta in a pesto sauce. The portions were very generous and dessert was out of the question, but our server and Tony made sure we received a complimentary anniversary dessert to go. We sat by a window and enjoyed the view. The sunset was nice too! We will be back next time we visit the area.
I think the food was good, but the seating is terrible. The seats are uncomfortable and cheap - and the tables are so close if you raise your hand, you will hit the table next to you. Good harbor spot, and review would change with a couple of things.
We liked the food and the ambience; service was good but not excellent. We will come back. It is a hidden gem and not as crowded as the other restaurants around the harbor.
Nice restaurant, great ambiance but VERY expensive!
The service was fairly awful with bits of the ingredients of dishes missing (for example the cheese and the candied walnuts from the salad which were integral parts of the meal) and the staff were fairly confused by the whole deal. It's a nice spot, the food is OK but it's clearly banking on the location being the draw rather than the service or the food itself.
Made reservations for two online which doesn’t tell you seating detail an our reserved table for two was a after thought as far as location squeezed into a space between larger tables and bumping into people. Next time will call to make sure we get a booth.
Would have rated it somewhat better (4-star) but considering we got leaked on by the air conditioner vent above our table and had to move mid-meal, for which they didn’t comp even dessert... a 3-Star is the best we could give.
The view was nice and the food was pretty good. I would have preferred a more expansive menu. Also, a fishing boat turned on bright lights near the end of our meal which were very distracting.
Our 10th wedding Anniversary
Really slow service. It took about 15 minutes before we got our menus and longer than that to get drinks. Pan-seared ahi was over-cooked. Food tasted good even-though over cooked. Staff was friendly. Great ambiance.
Coco was a SUPERB waitress, the ambiance was incredible, and watching the sealife out the window was perfect! Provided a fun atmosphere for us to celebrate 2 birthdays. They provided the balloons for the celebrants, too!
It was a disappointing Sunday brunch to celebrate my son-in-laws birthday. First, you really need to get the chairs reupholstered, they were very lumpy. The waiter took our order, the food was served by others so we didn't see our waiter again until the end of the meal, and no one came around to ask if we needed anything . The iced tea was not very tasty, so my daughter sent it back, but it still appeared on our bill. I would not recommend your establishment if you are hungry as the portions are very small. The redeeming feature is the view and we are able to walk from our home, but I don't think we will be back.
Nothing was mentioned about our anniversary that I had
stated in the reservation.
Great place - I love coming here. My only complaint is that they are still using plastic straws.
