The location and view is great! If you are looking for somewhere to dine by the water - this is great. You have a beautiful view of the harbor and all the boats. There's outdoor seating and you can watch the sunset as you eat. The food however was so-so, definitely did not match the view. But other than that, the service was nice and I would go again.
I chose Water's Edge because I needed a place near the Marina hat would take a reservation, and have a dog-friendly patio. I had been to this restaurant when it was Rhumbline, but not since it changed management. The food had always been very good, and it was delicious this time as well.
I miss the basket of bread they used to bring out, and it seems they have a smaller menu and fewer servers. While the staff was friendly and tried to be efficient, there was often a long wait for water refills or extra drink orders. We were a party of 6, and it seemed the other party of 6-8 people on the same patio had much more attention to their needs than we did.
They definitely need more dessert choices than the single "signature cheesecake".
I would recommend Water's Edge to a friend, while stating the issues and exceptions I have stated above. The Harbor fee is a stupid surcharge, but I did appreciate the warning about it on your website.
Because there is a shortage of help, we waited a long time to sit down and get food and drinks. Some of the food was cold. I give the restaurant the higher overall rating because of the ambience sitting next to the harbor.
We had a reservation at 6:15 and our table wasn't ready when we arrived so we ordered drinks at the bar. They didn't have the brand of whiskey my mom requested. Our server and the bartender were both wonderful but the restaurant was out of parmesan and only had two desserts available, plain or mango cheesecake.
Clearly emerging from COVID. Service was slow and inconsistent. New menu with good selection but higher prices overall. Menu selections do not always include sides that now are offered separately. Kitchen is clearly still working on preparation and timing. Food came to the table slowly and cold.
Managers did come to the table and elicited feedback and were understanding apologetic.
I am going to be optimistic that they will be able to work out the kinks. We are going to give the another chance and hopefully upgrade our rating
The service was outstanding! Best we've had in a long time. The food is just ok. We went because there were scallops on the online menu but the real menu had changed a couple of days before. The halibut was good though. No bread or anything was offered. The ambiance was great, of course. It's pretty noisy after it fills up which makes it hard to talk. The manager was super sweet to turn down the music, which was also very loud. We will go back because we like to meet friends from TH and we live in SB so it's great. We probably will try sitting outside for a more quiet experience hopefully.
Food was very good, service was excellent, even though they are short-staffed, like the rest of the food service industry. Seated outside on their patio, watching the birds and boats go by...very relaxing. Their Gilroy Fries are not to be missed!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Food was very good, service was outstanding!
With great views and inviting space, I was hoping the service and food would offer an alternative place to eat in Ventura. Sadly, with cold crab cakes, flavorless steaks, and lackluster service, the price point didn't match the overall offerings. A woman constantly came over to verbally offer refills on water glasses that were already filled, the filet a flavorless and soaked in sauce, the used appetizer plates (empty) sat on the table the entire time even after the entrees arrived, silverware came much later AFTER the food arrived. Having spent $175 for two people (without cocktails or dessert) felt egregious given the quality of the food and subpar staff. It has so much potential; was sad they didn't take advantage of that.
The food was ill prepared. The halibut was dry- shoe leather dry, the asparagus was woody and chewy and inedible. The fillet mignon was ordinary and the side that we ordered were banal. A dish was forgotten- so in all the experience was NOT worth the cost and drive. We will not recommend this restaurant.
Beautiful restaurant with great views of the water. Our server Brian was very attentive and kind, and he knew the menu well. I had the salmon which was outstanding and my husband had the pork chop, which was one of the best I’ve ever sampled. We are definitely going back to try the steaks!
The views were really nice. We sat in the patio so it was nice but the food took long to come. We got 2 out of 4 meals and like 5-7 minutes later we got the other 2 meals. So the first 2 meals got cold as they waited for the food to come for the rest.
The food was okay. I felt it was more about the views than the food.
The pineapple mojito and the appetizer were amazing. I may go back but definitely wouldn’t order the Szechuan short ribs again the garlic mashed was really good.
Overall it wasn’t too bad.
food was below average to just ok. service was severely lacking. but the view was nice.
Food was disappointing. Expected better. El Capital salad had runny watery blue cheese dressing. Fried chicken sandwich was over breaded and fried. Very heavy fried.
Halibut and chips heavily and greasy battered just like the chicken sandwich
Beautiful view and cordial and efficient wait staff.
Really enjoyed our dinner out with friends. Food was good and view of harbor was outstanding. Ambience was pleasing
Food was outstanding especially the brussel sprout appetizer
We were treated like royalty. Thanks for taking such great care of us.
The location is outstanding. The door was good but not outstanding. We would go back knowing we will get good food with outstanding ambiance.
The view is amazing and service was great. The food was good but a little bland. Looking forward to coming back for dinner with my partner next time we’re in Ventura.
Brian was a great waiter and the rest of the staff was also friendly. Halibut was delicious, the Mac and cheese and shrimp fettuccine were ok. Chardonnay was delicious.
Great food and great views, definitely need a reservation, even for a Tuesday
Anna, our server, was fabulous! Informative & prompt.
Good was very good
Very enjoyable meal. We were celebrating a huge promotion at work and they gave us a free desert. Overall a great experience for a special occasion
Views and the drinks were awesome!
Salmon was very good, potato and vegetable sides were good and plentiful. My husband ordered the pork chop which was quite dry. Our server Tiffany was WONDERFUL as we needed to send back pork chop. Tiffany certainly handled the situation very well. We were disappointed that no one from the management came to our table to apologize/compensate. We basically had our dinners separately, which was not what we had in mind ! I regret now that I didn't contact the manager directly. Moral of the story, beware of the pork chop.
Celebrating wedding anniversary up in Santa Inez Valley. Stopped by for brunch on our drive up. First trip since Covid.
Great brunch spot! Especially with the bottomless mimosas. We had a 6 person table and service was a bit slow but there appeared to be a lot of customers per servers, as with many restaurants nowadays. We didn't mind the delay as we were welcoming friends to the area. We will definitely be back!
Birthday. Food was delicious.Staff was very cordial.
Great spot. Although too many menu items were missing, the food we were able to get were great. Nice view of some charter boats in dock on the bay.
Had not been to this restaurant since it's opening as Water's Edge. The interior has been redecorated and looks very nice. The harbor view is unobstructed. The menu is rather limited and they were out of scallops so we ordered the salmon and special of grilled Mahi Mahi and the $16 side of asparagus. The fish dishes looked very nice but both were quite over cooked. The Mahi Mahi should have been moist, also the salmon, but they were both dry and unpleasant to eat. We left much of it uneaten. Seemed like nice fresh fish but ruined by the preparation. So, we were disappointed, not expecting such a basic mistake from an upscale restaurant. The salad was good and the bread was also. The asparagus was grilled but also dry and tough. The staff didn't ask how we liked it or we would have told them.
Nice view and great service. The food needs some work. Dry omelet. Tomato hollandaise tasted like canned tomato soup. What they called beignets were more like corn fritters. The bloody Mary was tomato juice with vodka. I would not go back unless I knew that they had improved the food.
Came here with my girlfriend for our anniversary and it did not disappoint! I got the filet mignon and got the ahi tuna steak and both were incredible! We also enjoyed wine and beer and had great attentive service. I recommend the lobster mashed potatoes they were divine.
All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our happy hour meals and drinks. The service was excellent and we look forward to returning again soon.
Utterly incredible chef
We really enjoyed the food, the ambiance and the view.
Appetizers are delicious so as the specialty drinks and wine. Amazing for family gatherings or business meetings as well as for romantic dinners.
i can't say the clam chowder is "award-winning" but the brussells sprouts are!! order 'em - you'll be happy.
nice outdoor vibe - relaxing.
great server - really nice and attentive.
Out of the few dishes we wanted to order.
Even with the restaurant filled 20%, they were still seating people next to one another
The view was wonderful. That alone is a reason to return. The food was good. The oysters perfection!
We will be back we enjoyed it so much.
