Waterman's Restaurant is a cozy seafood restaurant overlooking the Galveston Bay. The views from here are absolutely stunning, and the food just makes it even better. It has an extensive bar that offers up an array of possibilities, while the abundance of available seating outside offers up a great opportunity to have healthy conversation with friends and family.
Waterman's Restaurant has a terrific low key ambiance and has been serving seafood to patrons for years. Consider ordering the salmon, which is grilled to perfection and served over a bed of rice, as it comes highly recommended by many. All of this and more is what makes Waterman's Restaurant such a special place.
Excellent early dinner . The restaurant is some distance west of the main part of Galveston, but worth the trip. Selection and the food quality was perfect. Wine was very reasonably price and of solid quality.
The food was wonderful and our waiter Joey, was the best!
My husband is a transplant from the New England area and I've been a resident of the island for 26 years so I have made sure he is introduced properly to the island. After his visit to Waterman's he asked me why we just don't frequent your restaurant? Why we even bother going downtown Galveston when we have you down the street from us? Guess what, you place has now become our family's favorite "hang out". Your restaurant is not only good for food but for cocktails.
The atmosphere is great. Your food is wonderful and your staff... efficient and friendly !

Always a nice change from the drive into town and nighttime traffic to stay on the West End for dinner. Scallops and fish were excellent and the wait staff very attentive and helpful. We did some substitutions because of dietary constraints which were readily accommodated. I would recommend Waterman's to a friend.
Holiday weekend- We had a reservation but did not need it. They seated us at a table by the windows so we could watch the sunset go down over the water. Delicious dinner, great service and good value. No complaints, 4 stars.
A little out of the way from East Beach where we were staying, but atmosphere and food made it worth the trip.
I gave this place a second chance after getting poor food last visit. The food was much better this time but still lacking.
1. Several of us got wedge salads. It was dry (not enough dressing)
2. The lobster/ravioli was really poor quality and should be removed from the menu
The restaurant was in a lovely location on the back bay; ambiance was lovely, family friendly and on the marina with breathtaking sunset views of the back bay. That particular night was very busy, and despite having reservations, we felt rushed to an out of the way table for two near the bar; atmosphere was dark it was very pricey for a small portion of fish, perhaps 4 oz. We were disappointed with the portion size foe the price; the service was rushed but adequate. I wouldn’t go again.
Food was cold, service slow. Looked like they were under staffed.
Our server was excellent - our food was good, just not scrape your plate and eat every bite good. We got the redfish and the snapper - beautiful plate of food.
This place is such a sure thing. Good food, pretty view, nice staff.
Great time. Excellant service. Delicious ahi Tuna special.
Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived and we had to wait about 15 minutes. We asked for a table by the windows and was told no. Our waitress was very nice and the food and service was wonderful.
Our waiter, Chris, did a great job. Our food was served in a timely manner and was delicious. The view of the marina and bay are great.
It was my husband’s 52nd Birthday. From the moment we arrived, we felt special. We were given a great table with a lovely view and the food was superb and service exceptional. It was a perfect night. We will be back.
The food was amazing! We were seated quickly. Service was outstanding. Highly recommend.
Nice off the beaten path low key seafood with terrific sunset views.
I really don’t understand why they don’t sell baked potatoes at this restaurant. Otherwise it was a wonderful experience and we will return again.
Great place, just seated right as we entered, waited about 10 minutes for the waiter to come to us. but he was slammed, Hostess probably shouldn't have seated us so quick. Meal was great, I'd go back again.
We have always had great food here, and it was. The service was not so great. It appears they were short handed. It was disappointing that no beer was on tap and there were no local craft beer.
Made reservations for a group of 18 for a birthday dinner. Manager made sure things were right and we were accommodated to our liking. Great experience, we will be returning!
Service and food excellent!
Just to help improve.....Temperature in restaurant was not comfortable ....too warm. Ceiling fans right over the table cooled down the food too quickly. Broken any sunscreen needs to be repaired .
We'll definitely return!
They didnt have lobster or crab. They need more choices of fishes and sides. You only get mashed potatoes and mixed veggies as sides. Not impressed.
When I called to confirm our reservation that I made through open table they did not have any record of it. They were able to accommodate us however and took good care of us.
The hostess was very welcoming. Our waitress, Sierra, was pure delight!! She was attentive and personable. I will be returning and I hope I get Sierra for my waitress again.
The food was AMAZING! I am excited to take my next guests there for dinner.
Food literally took 1.5 hours to arrive at table, drinks took 35 minutes. Service was beyond lacking but we were in no particular hurry so we stuck around to enjoy the view. Once the food finally showed up it was very good.
We found the food much improved since our last visit.
Had a great window table with sunset views.
Very pleasant evening
Nice food and service. Good place to eat on the island
We visit Galveston annually. We were very excited about eating here. We walked in and only a few tables were filled. No one was on the patio, we were pleased to be seated there due to the fantastic view. We sat outside and waited for over 5 minutes with no service. No water, nothing. My husband went inside to ask for at least a beverage. The bartender said he would help. The hostess came outside to take our beverage order. We told her at that point we were ready to give our entire order. She said she was going to get the server for our table. She left to get the server. After another few minutes, no server, no beverage, no order. We left. We were so disappointed. The ambiance is phenomenal. As we left, no one tried to make it better, keep us there or anything.
Have been here before for dinner. Great for dinners at sunset. Sunsets are awesome overlooking the bay. Food is good. Not the best seafood I've ever eaten for the prices. If they could ever get the food quality to match the restaurant ambiance and views, then paying the prices would be warranted. Still give it 4 stars based on the dining options you have in the area.
Great food, service, and sunset!
Great! Beautiful views and delicious food!
Food was very good; go for fresh entrees. Service was great and friendly. Good views and the kids like walking the docks. Pricey. Outdoor seating is better out on the docks with a breeze. Sunsets behind the restaurant so it gets really hot on the back porch in the warmer months.
It was a busy holiday weekend dinner but both of our meals were wrong - missing parts - southwest snapper came without the avocado, crab, pico and missing avocado and crab from my wife’s dinner. The waitress said there were new kitchen staff and brought out the missing components but still.... the food was good - not great but good - and not what we ordered. We will give it a miss until the kitchen has time to get their game on
- outstanding! After a rocky few years, IMHO, the last 3-4 meals have been excellent. Great for us only living about 5 minutes away
- waitstaff is very helpful and friendly
- still have one of the best sunset views of any restaurant on the island
- Calamari appetizer was very good, nice light batter and not over done
- Wedge salad was excellent, lettuce was cold, condiments fresh, blue cheese dressing was slightly soupy but tasted great
- Coconut shrimp - perfectly fried, habanero dipping sauce is spicy but compliments the shrimp very well
- Grilled snapper - perfectly cooked and seasoned, mashed potatoes were a little cool but very tasty
Could be better:
- please bring back your fabulous onion rings and soft shelled crabs!!
We visited Waterman for the first time. The staff appeared a little bit overwhelmed by the unusual number of visitor to Galveston in April, and thus service could be improved (took a while to get drinks and to take our food order, although our waiter was very nice). We had Boudin jalapeño balls as appetizer and these were very tasty. As main dish we had the red snapper and was fresh and delicious. The sunset was beautiful (nice view of west Galveston Bay) and the marina.
THEY WERE CLOSED!
We've been coming here for years and the service is always terrible. But we put up with it because of the good energy, great views and decent food. Granted, we are coming at Easter when everyone is new. Maybe it's better later in the summer. The first server was so shy, we had to reach out over our shoulder to get the menus, and she stood back behind us to take our drink order so we had to crane our necks to place the order. The manager came and saved the day and took over the whole table. We had drinks (forgot mine though at first), appetizers, salad course and dinner. No wait between courses. I had the coconut shrimp which was outstanding. Everyone was happy with their food.
Food was excellent! Service definitely needs to be worked on! We were seated 30 minutes before we received water.
Great. Use of sunset over the water
