Niall, a proud champion for Northern Ireland’s tourism and hospitality sector, we’re thrilled to announce that Waterman opens under the same roof as our Waterman House Cookery School. Our plans for an exciting, creative hub in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter can help breathe new life into this vibrant part of the city, and we believe it’s the perfect spot for a new culinary venture.

“Customers will enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and excellent classic European-style cuisine made with quality local produce. What people want more than ever is quality food and great service, and that’s what we will deliver at Waterman.

The kitchen team is headed up by former James Street apprentice and head chef at Hadskis Aaron McNeice has been appointed head chef at Waterman.

The food was mostly very good as was the overall experience. Unusually, we thought the service was too quick as we’d only just starting our aperitif when the starters came. The crispy squid was excellent and the brown bread ice cream a rare treat. The lamb was cooked well but the meat was more gristly than it should be. We’d come again if in the city in future.

Outstanding clever food, nice alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails, and pleasant staff. Our best meal in Belfast ( which included two Tasting menus and the Merchant House) great combination of ingredients. The rhubarb baked Alaska featured a totally fresh sponge and was a revelation of what that desert could be.

Extremely tight and small dining area. Incredibly loud and it has terrible acoustics due to high ceiling so every patron seemed to have to raise their voices to be heard. I sat across from my wife and struggled to actually hear her voice.

Food was amazing. The tables are just too close together. 1.5hrs is rushed for a couple out dining. It’s not just about the food, it’s the whole experience! Whilst I like social dining ( benches), I wasn’t planning it on this occasion . The steak was lovely-the food was served hot ( perfect).

Great lunch, food was super , just a small issue was that the restaurant was little chilly and we were the only diners for about an hour that affected the ambience. Though the latter of course is not the fault of the restaurant. Would certainly return.
