Waterlot Inn - Fairmont Southampton Ratings and Reviews
The food always surpasses my expectations! My cocktail was delicious, the staff were friendly professional and helpful. From the moment we entered the door, we were greeted with a smile. As always, Wayne, makes you feel right at home. Our waiter(Dale) made excellent suggestions. Both thumbs up!
We enjoyed the Waterlot on two occasions during our stay in Bermuda and loved the plush seating, historic building and delicious menu. Service was attentive but not overdone, and our meal was well paced, portioned, and tasty. Thank you for two elegant evenings!
Waterlot is consistently excellent. The food is delicious and the service is fantastic. It's always a treat to dine at Waterlot. I have always had steak for dinner, but this time I was glad that I ventured out of my norm and had lamb. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. The staff is so gracious and attentive, and knowledgeable. One of the members of our group has celiac and the waiter knew exactly which dishes were gluten free - even down to the worcester sauce in the caesar salad dressing. We look forward to our next meal!
Service was the highlight of this restaurant. We were greeted by our waiter who gave us a tour of the historic 1670 home before seating us. He was super attentive throughout. They also arranged for taxi pickup. Food is good and they do table side preparation of Bananas Foster and Caesar Salad ( the latter is rare these days). Menu authenticity could use work; for example, they highlight a "Wagyu" beef item and tell the mythical story about "cows that are massaged" which is a red flag. Stick with the basics.
Waterlot is probably our favorite restaurant in Bermuda. I've eaten here several times over the past decade. The menu and ambience are 'traditional steakhouse.' We are particularly fond of the setting, a pretty historic home right on the water; it is one of the increasingly rare places that have a timeless 'colonial Bermuda' vibe. The service and food is always excellent. This time we shared a Caesar salad, a petit filet with bernaise sauce, macaroni & cheese, sauteed broccolini, and sticky toffee pudding. Of course the steak was great, but the sticky toffee pudding and macaroni & cheese are also exceptional — both rich but not heavy. Really no complaints. Prices are typical for Bermuda — which is to say, perhaps 30% more than you'd expect for comparable dining in the US.
It was steak, but it was a very good steak. We went here the evening after we went to what is supposedly the best restaurant on the Island, and this was worlds better. The attitude was pleasant, the service great, the food yummy. The wine list is good, though like all on the island, on the very expensive side. Other than price (what do you expect for a steak house), there was no downside, and they were very happy to have us share courses. Mushroom thermador, lobster tagliolini, harvest salad, rib eye, apple galette. My mouth is watering all over again. We'll be back.
We enjoyed the perfect meal & experience at Waterlot Inn. From start to finish, everything was refined, prepared exactly right and delivered seamlessly and well paced. Our server, Thomas, was delightful while not being obtrusive. He took very good care of us as did everyone at restaurant. Thank You for helping us celebrate a very special day with an impeccable evening.
We have been here probably a dozen or so times and usually it is great, this time however was a disappointment and given the price tag there isn’t much room for error. The service was slow and, it appeared, stretched. We sat down late-ish at 8pm and there were still a number of children screaming/running around which is always irritating but perhaps unavoidable. The room was extremely cold - the girls at our table and the table next door all had to put scarves on or wear their partner’s blazers, we mentioned this but nothing changed. From sitting down to our starters arriving we waited about 50 minutes, having had the wine delivered some time earlier. The food was still excellent but there are a number of places in Bermuda with excellent food, it is usually the service and ambience that separates the Waterlot from the competition.
The Waterlot is our favorite restaurant in Bermuda, and up there with our favorites in the world! The attention to detail with the meals, the flavor, the service, the ambiance - all make for a special treat each time we go. We have been to this restaurant 8 times in the past 13 months and love it!!! Definitely worth going to!
I had what they say was Wagyu Strip for $68 plus $10 / $12 for sides if it had been exceptional I could live with the price. Alas it was not! If fact it was extremely average.
When the waiter asked “did you enjoy your Wagyu Sir” I said “Actually it was very average” he just smiled at me and cleared the table. My wife had the scallops she was also underwhelmed. At $300 for a meal for two I expect more.
Excellent service!! Me and my honey was having birthday. I ate the crab lump and ceasar salad..delicious..my hubby had bone in cowboy ribeye which was excellent. They gave us free champagne for his birthday because we did not want dessert. The place is romantic and good for any occasion
The Maitre'D, Vincent Lavine, maintains a tradition of hospitality, providing excellent service and fine food that we have come to enjoy, ever since our first visit in 1975, when Luigi was serving in that capacity.
During this, most recent meal to celebrate a friend's birthday, we made reservations in advance (from Florida) using Open Table, then requested that the Southampton Fairmont confirm the reservation, as their website indicated that Waterlot might be closed on Mondays in the fall. Vincent promptly responded to that e-mail, confirmed the reservation, and when we arrived, met us with a cold glass of sparkling wine!
After a thoroughly enjoyable meal, Vincent presented a special dessert to celebrate the occasion. He and his staff have gone well out of their way to make us feel quite welcome, every time we travel to Bermuda (in the interests of full disclosure, I met my husband in Bermuda during college week and we have been back more than sixty times).
This establishment has been here since the 1600’s. If you want a true 5 star experience, this is the place to be. The food is outstanding. Some had steak (always a good choice). The scallops were exceptional. My husband devoured the lobster. The service was impeccable. Highly recommend.
The dress code says one thing however the staff do not enforce it, very sad.
I have eaten at the Waterlot for over 30 years, you may say I’m a little old school but, shorts, t shirts, jeans and to finish it off flip flops are welcomed ???
I can’t believe the amount of infants that parents bring to the restaurant, wow.
