Waterbar Ratings and Reviews
The food was amazing and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a more upscale experience on the waterfront. Not inexpensive but pretty typical of the San Francisco scene. The waiters were attentive but not overbearing and the gentleman tending the bar was very knowledgeable.
It was disappointing - We wanted to seat in a regular table for lunch but the waitress put us in a bar table so we could wait until one was available, but they started to bring the food while we were in bar table so we didn't have much option other than eat in the bar table.
The food was also not so good for the price.
First of all, can I just say amazing?! The view of the bay bridge, the ambiance and of course the food! My boyfriend and I came here last night to celebrate our anniversary and it was well worth it. We had a later reservation but that didn't stop the service from being nothing but the best. We felt like royalty with the attentiveness of our waiter and appreciated the kind gesture from management for a bottle and dessert on the house. To start,we had the fried squid glazed with some kind of sweet sauce and the crab. I ordered the lamb which was decadently juicy and flavorful and my boyfriend ordered the bass which was equally as scrumptious! We shared sides of brussel sprouts, spinach, and a fried baked potato. We will definitely return in the future. Thank you waterbar for making our night romantic and special!
The crab legs special is astounding. Oysters, Duck deviled eggs with crab, Amazing!...and don’t miss the devil’s food cake chocolate mouse with cherries and cream is out of this world! Hint: Fish entree dishes are underwhelming compared to apps, desserts and chef special small plates.
The place itself is beautiful. The view of the Bay Bridge lights & interior fish tanks combine to make it a simply gorgeous restaurant. The service, from the hostess, bus people and server, was superior to other similar restaurants. They combined to make my sister & I feel important & well-taken care of! The service is simply excellent! The food is delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection & seasoned beautifully. The oysters I had were fresh and delicious. This was my second visit to the place & I will definitely return!
fish and chips not very good . Almost no fish , lots of very, very deep fried batter
other dishes were good but not outstanding . A disappointment compared to 2 other visits , should be noted that the menu we chose from was just brunch with many far fetched and interesting menu ideas . On the bright side , service was excellent and ambiance is great
Incredible view of the bay bridge. The food and service were great. I would recommend in the future. The bar was packed. The only bad thing was our table was not ready for about 30 minutes after our reservation but we sat outside and enjoyed the view for a while and had cocktails.
This restaurant is an hour and a half away from where we live but well worth the drive! Menu is creative, food is top quality and no matter what you order it will be delicious! Its focus is on seafood but they also have some great steak options. The menu changes every day and that makes it all the better. You don't get the same boring dishes over and over. Choices are never limited. As a matter of fact I ordered two desserts for myself because I just HAD to try them both! And as expected they were both amazing! My husband and I went for a date night here a couple of times and now it's where I always want to go. And it's right on the ocean with the Bay Bridge in the background. Ambiance is both fun and intimate at the same time. We had a blast and enjoyed every bite! Service is outstanding as well. Definitely recommend!!
Very pricy wine list. The fried squid was delicious. Sent my stripped bass back to be cooked more for my liking. Original dish had a delicious on a bed of spaghetti squash. When my new dish came out, the whole dish was super spicy. Guess I must have insulted the chief, as I don't know why else the spice of the dish would have changed so drastically . Watch out.
The waiter spilled red wine all over one of our guests. The timing of the food was terrible. The side to one of our entrees had an entire bottle of white pepper, which made it inedible. The restaurant was SO LOUD which made it almost importable to follow the conversation at our own table. I had high expectations of this restaurant but it failed on every level. Based on our experience, nothing was worth the price of our bill.
We will not be returning to Waterbar and leave it for the tourists. My dining companion agreed that the food was not worth the price. We ordered fried breaded calamari which were so overcooked that they resembled fried insects and tasted worse. My dining companion had tuna, which was "passable." I had halibut with clams and lardoons on a bed of greens which were so overcooked and salted you couldn't tell what kinds of greens they were. The clams were overcooked and really none of this should have had lardoons which made the dish even saltier. The halibut was on the dry side. I ordered a glass of Muscadet which came straight out of the freezer. When I questioned the waiter, he proudly announced they kept there beverages in a sub-zero refrigerator - really; my dining companion had a glass of Sauterne with desert and that was similarly frozen. In addition, our waiter hovered and was rude that he would benefit from a year at charme school. Very unpleasant experience for overpriced slop.
