Many thanks Mike! Best, Rich T.
What a view! Sat in the bar area at a high top and loved every minute. Service was outstanding and food fantastic.
MANY THNAKS PAM! Best, Rich T.
Always a special occasion go to! Great food service and atmosphere and incredible views of the lights on the bridge!
We appreciate that charlesh! Thanks for thinking Waterbar to celebrate - we love it! Best, Rich T.
Birthday Dinner. Excellent view of bay bridge.
Food was great as was service.
Outdoor heaters were warm and perfect experience.
Thank you Kieths! Best, Rich T.
The service was exceptional and check in / front desk ladies were super kind and helped us a lot with WiFi and for my husband to be able to watch his 49ers game on his phone. Our server was beyond exceptional.
Thanks for the kind words WafaQ! Go Niners! Best, Rich T.
Sad the tomohawk was removed off the menu and replaced with flat iron steak. I asked for medium rare and got medium well done. Service was great. Love the outdoor seating and patio heaters.
The location under the Bay Bridge on the water is gorgeous and fun to walk to along the Embarcadero. Service was fast and courteous with delicious sea food and fun menu. We really enjoyed our Sunday brunch with friends.
Thanks so very much GinniD! Best, Rich T.
Came here to celebrate my husband and I birthday. We were pleasantly greeted and acknowledged by hostess and our waiter. The service from our waiter was great and place was beautiful. HOWEVER, the food was not worth the price. Oysters a joke, they were the size of a jellybean and over $4 each. We almost wanted to send them back. The filet steak was not well presented. It was just messily put on the plate with brussels sprout and quite honestly appeared and tasted like pot roast. The tuna was not memorable. Overall, the food tasted like the type of "fine dining" you get on a cruise ship all inclusive. The food and presentation looked lackluster, as if they didn't care because they know people will come in for the view and pay $$$$ anyway. Disappointing trip into the city. Will not be coming back.
Very sorry to disappoint you Jayne and thank you for the feedback that we will humbly address. Enjoy your holiday season, Best regards, Rich T.
Love the food and service! We will go back there again.
Fantastic all around. Thank you for excellent service and excellent food!!
THANK YOU GL!
Food didnt taste that fresh. Which was reinforced by my salad plate itself being ice cold aka its refrigerated for long periods AND the lettuce was a slightly bitter at some areas indicating age. Dessert is very good. Hot food takes a while to come out. Great views. Service picks up food without asking if you’re done with the plate so some perfectly good food doesn’t get eaten. Waiter didn’t ask if we needed to-go boxes, we had to ask for them. Sounds bougie but with the price point and level of clientele this place would like to attract, it needs improvement.
#1 5 Star Server Ceasar . Food excellent incredible views
Very comfortable sitting outside 🍷
We thank you for the kind comments Marsgirl! We will share with Cesar and wish you a great holiday season. Best, Rich T.
We have been to the Waterbar several times and the food has always been excellent with unusual selections. Beautiful views of the Bay. Our server (Tate) was very helpful, including suggesting an excellent alternative to one of our selections. Her great service and sense of humor helped to make the evening special.
We appreciate the kind words Steve! I will share we one of our stars - Tate! Best, Rich T.
Best place to be…. Really good food….
My wife was really upset at the low quality of food and experience. We received the wrong dish and my wife wanted to return her food. It was also her birthday which made this a regrettable experience.
Superior service and food in a great location.
THANKS so much Poppe!
Great food, nice ambiance near the water. Oysters could have been a little fresher but still very good overall.
Eating outside on the patio was especially enjoyed not only the view of the Bay Bridge, but the open area to feel protected from the COVID virus. The wait staff was busy, but it gave us time to enjoy our drinks. The food was served hot and the fish was prepared to perfection. Our waiter, Cesar, was very knowledgeable of the drinks, wine, and menu.
Excellent sour dough bread.
Then we moved to the cocktail area to experience the interior aquariums and water displays. Mokhi promptly served us Irish coffee to end our meal.
We will return!
Hello GS and thanks! Happy to hear it and will share with Cesar. Hope to welcome you back soon, best, Rich T.
I requested a reservation for two for Tuesday 6pm 11/30/21 on 11/11/21 indicating very clearly we wanted a window seat. Two and a half weeks on a slow night is more then an ample amount of time to ensure this could be accommodated.
We were sat two tables in from the window, in between two parties. It was clear from the hosts reaction when they realized my request that they didn’t have anything available and chose this as a “this should be fine” option.
Compound this with the fact that the entrees had to be sent back twice. My partner advised he had a nightshade allergy, and this got translated to a dish being having the mushroom ravioli substituted with potato gnocchi (?). They replaced his, leaving me at the table on a date with my plate in front of me, and when they brought his dish back out (now almost a few minutes later) his was actually brought out cold and mine had been on the table untouched for some time.
The manager came out and replaced the entrees entirely, and surprised us with lobster bisque. The entrees and appetizer we ordered was comped from the check, which was appreciated, but needless to say for this fiasco to happen on a date with somebody I wanted to take out for the evening was stressful, unprofessional from the start and we won’t be returning. Which is a shame because I’ve enjoyed my experiences here otherwise.
Seemed that what could go wrong did with your table, we did what we could to redeem, but understand your disappointment. No excuses and we deeply apologize. Best, Rich T.
My husband and I have worked in the food service industry for many years and pay close attention to the details. It is very rare that we have such an overall excellent experience in a restaurant. We can honestly say that our experience at Waterbar was extraordinary and we look forward to returning asap!
We went to Waterbar at 2pm on a Tuesday and enjoyed the lovely outdoor setting. It was a special occasion & a beautiful day in SF. We picked the perfect spot to celebrate. And given the covid situation we felt very safe dining there. The space between tables was great and everything was super clean. The tables had fresh linens and the silverware was even perfectly polished. The service from Scott C. was exceptional and the food was divine. My husband got the oyster special and was so impressed with the size of the oysters. We could also tell that they make everything in house (we really appreciate those extra steps) because we devoured the perfectly cook fries with housemade ketchup and mustard = SO GOOD. Oh and the housemade chips were yummy too. TBH everything we ordered was yummy. The roasted cauliflower elevated my feet off the ground. I'm still day dreaming about the dish. I thought my fish entrée was slightly undercooked, so I asked the server. He didn't even look, but swiped the plate off the table so fast and declared a new plate would be out ASAP. He was very apologetic and handled it with grace! We believe the true measure of service happens when something goes wrong more than when it's all good. Keep it real.... mistakes happen and they did great to recover for sure!
The cocktails were perfect & they have an incredible wine selection, so I also ordered a half bottle of Sancerre that was so elegant and perfectly paired with the food. We were so happy leaving we kind of skipped to our car. We highly recommend you try Waterbar and we look forward to returning! I honestly never spend this much time on a review, but I am so happy to. It was worth it!!!
Thanks so much Tara for the enthusiasm and support! We appreciate the feedback and will share with Scott. Hope we get to welcome you soon, Best, Rich T.
I wanted to go to Waterbar forever. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The location is fantastic and it was a sunny day. I was with two friends and we were having a memorial farewell lunch for the husband of one, the father of the other. It was not crowded and there seemed to be plenty of staff who were friendly and energetic. However, it took several requests to get a drink, a 40 minute wait for our entrees, and several requests to get our ordered bread. They comped us a tiger prawns cocktail in apology for the delay. We were relaxed and not in a hurry so we were patient. One friend ordered the flank steak and shared a piece with me. There was a long black hair attached to the piece of steak. I discarded it and did not draw the staff attention not wanting to upset my friend for whom this was already a poignant time. My sole was "meh." The steak was tough. I made sure to order the one entree without beets which I dislike. My sole came with beets which I pushed to the side.
After years of great reviews, maybe this was just a bad day in the kitchen and with the staff. I might go back someday to give it another chance but it is a pricey outing to do so when there are so many other fabulous alternatives in San Francisco.
Hi Jan, So sorry of hear of your experience and thank you for the details. We continue to search for excellence delivered for all. Many thanks, Rich T.
Experience was fantastic. We had just finished our Wedding Ceremony at City Hall and everyone was very attentive and thoughtful. It was my first time dining at Waterbar, but will not be my last. Our server Rene was also incredibly nice, I would consider the service here near the top of my all time list, if not #1 for dining experiences. Thank you to the staff for really making our celebration memorable.
CONGRATS Nicolas and thanks for sharing such a special day at Waterbar. Best regards, Rich T.
It was amazing
WOW! Love it Lisa! Best, Rich T.
First time at Waterbar--we live on the East coast.
We started with a dozen oysters ($1.05 each!!) which were perfect.
Then we shared a fabulous warm pear & gorgonzola salad.
We also shared the petrale sole in broth with beans & mushrooms. The fish was delicate & flavorful.
Great service sitting outdoors with the Bay Bridge above.
Great to hear and THANKS JackPhilly! Best, Rich T.
I love waterbar; they have a great happy hour and high quality ingredients. I come here for the quality of the food and lovely setting. The service has almost always been close to terrible. People (reception, behind the bar, serving or whatever role they play) seem very grumpy, not welcoming, everything you ask seems a huge burden, … the wines are ridiculously overpriced for the quality they offer but again I come here for the food and scenery.
Hi Laura, We thank you for your honesty and support. We certainly do not normally get this type of feedback on service, as we are at a 4.7/4.8 rating in Open Table. However, we are listening to your feedback and will share with staff. Would be great to meet you on a next visit! Best, Rich T.
Fantastic ambiance. Limited choices in food. Expensive
great place! one of our favorite restaurants in SF
Thanks o much Rina- appreciate it! Rich T.
Disappointed! We’ve been wanting to get a reservation at Water Bar. After several trips to SF we finally got one. The view if the bridge was spectacular and the wait staff was efficient and friendly. The food was good but not outstanding by any means. The menu was unbelievably limited with only 4 entrees. Everything was ala carte and RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. $240 with tip for 3 drinks, 2 salads, one entree, 1 starter, and 1 dessert. With all the delicious food and beautiful restaurants in the City, this one is the one to skip!
Nice view of bridge, great happy hour for oysters
Besides the outstanding service and ambience , I think they got me with the most creative and delicious Crème brûlée I ever had. Thank you for making our lunch an amazing experience!
We’ve been here several times over the years, but this time was different. Food was blah, service just ok. The hamachi app came with four tiny pieces of sashimi, like they had scraps left over and it tasted like ocean salt water.
Sorry to hear bigcib, and wish we could have done something in the moment to redeem things for you. Thanks for the feedback and we certainly hope we get to welcome again. Best, Rich T.
Awesome place for dollar oysters, great service and delicious food
Excellent service, delightful cuisine and a marvelous ambience!
Great place to dine with nice view of Bay bridge. Our server Tom was good and accommodating. Food was good.
Beautifully plated, delicious food in a gorgeous setting with an incredible view! We were disappointed upon arrival to discover a greatly reduced menu due to dining the evening before Thanksgiving and that they could not fulfill our appetizer order for sourdough bread (none available, though listed on limited menu), but the server was apologetic and the food we did receive was outstanding. The ambiance is top notch.
Thank you MKP2! We appreciate the support and detailed feedback! Best, Rich T.
We had a very early reservation and had asked for the bar or outside. Hostess claimed very few tables outside, even though it was empty she put us away from heaters and view obstructed by plants. Freezing cold the whole time and the patio stayed empty. Waiter would disappear for over 15 minutes at a time. Very poor service. Food was ok, not worth the money.
We dined at Waterbar last night to celebrate my dads birthday. I have dined here many times. However this was my parents first time dining here and they couldn’t stop raving about the food and the amazing service on the drive home. We will all be back really soon.
