This is an intimate dining experience. The food is wonderful. The server is attentive. You should not come for a fast casual or quick experience. Take your time and enjoy the food!

Total experience was fantastic! Price Fixe menu included several choices for each level. Food and service were outstanding, definitely worth the price. We ended up with take home due to portion sizes.

Absolutely delicious! Went for brunch but it’s now on my list for dinner. Goat cheese Mac is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten!

Darn, I just wrote a long review but when I went to continue I hit the button that said that I WOULD recommend to a friend. I would definitely NOT recommend.
Food was fresh but just a mish-mash of tastes that left everything tasting the same - not great. Both mine and my sons were not good. Do not recommend the crab quesadillas or the shrimp with grits appetizer or something he had with eggs and piled high with boring suateed vegetables. Sorry guys!

Amazing! Pre fix menu is the way to go! Chef Sean turns out exquisite dish after exquisite dish.

Love this place - Will definitely be back! All 8 courses (2 people) were amazing! Although the rib-eye steak option was my least favorite. The quality of the steak didn’t match the level of all the other food. Have already recommended to family & friends.

First time trying this establishment and I love it!!! We reserved the dinner experience for a date and it was phenomenal. Sean, Executive Chef, and Caleb, our Waiter are a dynamic duo. I felt like I was right at home with 5 star cuisine. I’ve raved about this place to everyone I know and will be back very very soon! If you’ve never been, you’ve got to go!

We traveled from NJ to celebrate our anniversary at Water for Chocolate. We had a wonderfully engaging server and the food was some of the best I’ve ever had. We will definitely be making return trips.

Great food, very interesting flavors

First time I have tried the prix fixe. Outstanding and unlike some chef's tables there are options for each course. Very creative dishes. We were blow away. I am returning soon. Service excellent.

The atmosphere was picturesque; soft music and lots of natural light. The food spectacular; crab quesadilla, chicken potstickers & Mac & cheese. The mimosa was refreshing! I will certainly be back.

Truly superb dining! The dishes were unique and the flavors were outstanding. The setting was the perfect ambiance! We really enjoyed the intimacy of the restaurant and the complimenting music. I was a little bummed that my special request wasn’t acknowledged for dessert to be brought out with a candle for my fiancée’s birthday but nevertheless we had a great experience and will return if we are back in town. And yes, the Dope Juice is just as good as they say it is.

We had the place to ourselves and felt like the luckiest people in the world. Every course was flawless but the grilled octopus on grits was mind altering.

Some restaurants provide food. Others provide experiences. This was an experience. Knowledgeable and humorous chef, personal and attentive. The prix fixe was spectacular. I highly recommend the Dope Juice!

Food was to die for. Had their hangover dish from the Sunday Brunch menu. Everything was hot, cooked to perfection. The jalapeno cornbread was perfectly baked and was moist rather than hard and crumbly. The goat mac and cheese! It was all amazing. The portion size was more than enough. Go!

My boyfriend and I had our anniversary there and we couldn’t have had a better experience. The food and service was amazing (I could literally eat the nitro shrimp and grits every day of my life) and we highly recommend getting the dope juice!

Close personal venue. When I say Close and personal, the waiter stopped chatted up and was engaged all night, the chef came out from cooking and conversed with all parties that were there that night. There was a great deal of care and love put into the menu. I will say the salmon was immaculate, the ny strip was amazing, the chicken dumplings rivaled some of my favorite asian spots, his chilli was as good as my uncles, and vegan ice cream :/ WHO KNEW????
The time, and venue were honestly the best spot weve stopped in dc, md, va; she rated it right above cafe44 and thats her favorite lol....And if you are of age get a carafe of the Dope Juice.....phenomonal.

From the moment we stepped in the door... amazing!!! The aroma of chocolate filled the air. It was Devine. Every dish was top tier. Please order the dope juice. A must!!! The service was outstanding. As soon as we left I made reservations for brunch. Can’t wait to return... 10 star!!!

I decided to throw my mother a surprise brunch party and what better way to get organized and ready to go than to book at a black owned hot spot for the last 14 years! Everything was fast and flavorful I will definitely be back!
