Washington Park Grille Ratings and Reviews
Wash Park Grille
*Bartenders introduce themselves, if they do not know you and take AWESOME care of you
*Appertizers are Average, except empanadas are the best!
*Lamb dish is delish
*Ambience is awesome, except too many tvs, this is NOT a sports bar.
*One of the local places for live music in Denver!!
*Overheard music piping in does not fit the venue
*It's one of Denver's "Cheers" bars, but better!
For the first time ever, I took advantage of your "birthday" free meal, and my son and daughter in law, who are visiting from Texas, joined me. The restaurant was nearly empty when I arrived at 2pm, they arrived earlier and had already ordered drinks and looked at the menu. I needed a few minutes to catch my breath and say "hello", as I hadn't seen them in a while.
I've been going to Wash Pk Grill, since it's inception way back when ?...it's been so long I can't remember. I lived and had a business in Wash Park for over 30 years, in fact, I started shopping and eating there way back in the ''70's. WHOA! A meal at your restaurant had always been a 'special event' for me; I've taken family, met friends who live in the area, and entertained clients, at your restaurant.
Our waitress was very "attentive", to the point of being pushy, while my family had been there a while and had time to peruse the menu, I had just arrived. She was back every few minutes asking if "we were ready to order", obviously, we could have flagged her down if we were ready. Her energy became such an invasion that I finally asked her "if her shift was over and did we need another wait person"?
My guess is she was preoccupied with something else, or maybe she was just tired, or maybe it was about me, whatever the case, it didn't work well for me. So I ordered something that was 'ok', but probably not what I would have ordered had I not felt pressured.
Bottom line, you asked, I'm sharing, it doesn't mean I'll never eat there again, and even if it did it probably wouldn't affect you all that much....but, it was MY BIRTHDAY, and it was the holidays and I hadn't seen my family for a while. Give me a break....
Normally, I would probably recommend Wash Park Grill for just about any occasion. Sometimes it is noisy, which would be the only drawback.
Thanks for listening.... HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Went there for New Year's Eve dinner and the food was excellent. We got sat in the extended area which had plastic folding tables underneath the table cloth. If this is just New Year's Eve overflow, then okay. I ordered the lobster Cioppino and the server did not bring me a bowl to discard my shells in, a little bit weird.
Service was not good. Our waitress just basically blew us off when we told her that she brought the wrong food. She said, "I dont know and walked off" Then she never returned until the check came. Also, My friends steak was too tuff and dried out to be medium rare.
Tables are too crammed together. We will not be going back.
Stars reflect excellent entree and waitress ( Abby) and terrible management and unpreparedness on the part
Of the restaurant.
We went for a special Christmas Eve dinner.,they had a special menu with higher priced items, required reservations
And took a credit card which they said " would be charged $25 a person for an changes to reservation"
So, they knew how many people were coming and should have been prepared.
We were seated on time at 7:30. We ordered drinks. After half an hour our lovely waitress informed us that
The bar was " back up and the drinks would be here soon" .
We said. That's OK. We noticed we don't have bread. Why don't you bring that while we are waiting" She said
WE RAN OUT OF BREAD!!!!!!? At 7:30? That is terrible. We noticed no one in the dining room
Had bread. Who planned this meal?
Our entrees took some time but were delicious when they came ($21 to $36)
Dessert menus were brought and two of us ordered Tiramisu at the top of the menu.
Again we were told "I am sorry we have run out"
We ordered chocolate mousse cake instead . It was bitter and dry and small and
Anyone who knows me will be stunned to learn I left part of a dessert on the plate.
Just not the level of service expected when you are paying nice prices for a special dinner
At a restaurant that has advertised a special evening.
I would go back for a burger for lunch but never again for a special dinner.
Removing two tables in the dining area would have also helped with the overcrowding
It's a lovely place. But honestly, lobster mac and cheese should be fabulous and it was barely fair. The wait staff enjoyed each other's company, gathering in the vestibule behind our booth. It was nice to see that they liked each other, but their chatter was disturbing and we had to ask for service several times. The place wasn't that busy. Servers were more attentive to each other than our table.
We enjoyed the Sunday brunch very much and I'm sure we will return another time. It had been several years since we last visited the Grille. Probably the only negative thing I could say is that the place can be noisy. There is nothing to be done about it since the restaurant has brick walls, wood floors with nothing much to absorb the sounds . . . and we had a 90 year old gentleman with us who really struggled to be part of the conversation. But the service was great and the food was delicious. We'll be back!
We have been going to Wash Park Grill for years and have generally had good experiences but this last visit was a huge disappointment. The food was mediocre at best. My wife and I both had dishes that included a beet/pasta concoction for the starch which we found gummy and tasteless. Regarding the service - we both ordered appetizers and before we were half finished with them our entrees arrived. The choice to either finish your soup and have a cold entrée or skip half of the soup to enjoy a warm main course is the sign of very poor service. Finally, we were seated in the smaller, front dining area and there was a large screen TV going 10 feet from our table - which would be better suited for a sports bar than to the WPG ambiance.
Thank you for changing our table after it was clear 8 very energetic young women were sitting near us and we were all of a certain age that wanted to hear each other talk! Moved to a booth and the sound and conversation was fine...still energetic and a busy Saturday evening but that's OK.
We enjoyed a wonderful birthday lunch at WPG. The wild mushroom ravioli special was wonderful and especially appreciated that we could order half sized portions. The ravioli was only lukewarm but that was our only complaint. We enjoyed a "tiramisu" type of dessert with ice cream, crushed espresso beans and a yummy coffee syrup.
The food was excellent, love the new menu. We had a little snafu with the initial service but it was immediately corrected and the rest of the service was excellent. My only complaint the restaurant was cold. There was not one table where someone was not wearing their coat through the entire meal. Really detracted from what would have been a beautiful evening.
We waited 10-15 minutes before seeing our waitress...
Then another 5-6 minutes for our drinks. When I received my Sprite it was flat so waited another 10 minutes.
Food came out n not hot just warm.... not sure if chicken was done or not so I didn’t finish it.
Will not be returning or referring to this place.
I was very very disappointed !!!
I have been to Wash Park Grill years ago for cocktails with friends. I had an important busy and social lunch. We sat outside on the patio on a gorgeous fall day. The hostess and service was great and very friendly and prompt. The special was a wild mushroom ravioli. It was amazingly fresh with an incredible sauce. Server offered generous amounts of cheese and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend it to my friends and colleagues. Great Job!!
