Washington Dining & Cocktails
First time we visited this restaurant with reservations, inside seating, service and expediency was great. On this, our second visit with reservations, table outdoor seating was cramped and we felt we were just stuck somewhere. It took a long time to be recognized and take a drink order and receive drinks. It took a long time after that before someone came to take our food order. Once food was ordered, it took at least 30 minutes if not longer before our food was served. With a one year old present at a reasonable time, this experience took way much longer than necessary.
Great food but mismanaged service can ruin the experience. My wife and I had reservations and planned for a casual dinner out. Once we were seated our waitress promptly took our drink order and returned to take our dinner order which we gave her. Minutes later our appetizer arrives along with our salads, why??
After we finished our appetizer and salads I got up to use the restroom and joked to my wife that our dinners might show up while I was gone. They did, even before they cleared our app and salad plates. The restaurant was not full so there was no excuse to turn and burn tables unless the crew just wanted to go home early on a Saturday night.
It took more than an hour for the four adults to get our meals but the children’s food came out immediately. The kids were done eating way before we received our food. DOESN’T WORK. The waitress was great.
Worse experience ever. Will never come back. Awful service. Ordered our drinks before the couple next to us and had to wait 10 extra minutes for our drinks to even come out. Tables were shoved way too close. I prefer not to bump elbows with my table neighbor.
We ordered the spicy cauliflower and it was the worse thing I’ve ever had. The service and food, gosh the overall experience literally caused us to leave after the one appetizer and drinks (when they finally came). Highly highly do not recommend this place to anyone.
Love this place every time we go there! Would recommend it to all people!
The sides (particularly the cold quinoa salad with veggies in a harissa vinaigrette) were outstanding! Also, there were healthy kid’s meal choices (my 8 year old chose green beans instead of fries), a welcome surprise.
Fantastic food - would recommend this restaurant ad well as their sister restaurant Drake.
We both had a Alaska salmon special with bacon fried rice and a curry sauce. I usually don't like curry, but this whole dish was fantastic! With an every day menu that is already great, it's wonderful how they excel with the specials!
Love the new menu items. The fried chicken topped salads were great. We started w the ahi poke—great choice. The nightly special of ling cod was truly delicious. Happy to see these additions.
They didn’t honor my reservation. We waiting over 30 min past the reservation and the hostess sat two people before me who did not have a reservation
My Old-fashioned was perfection. My husband's vodka Collins was good and refreshing on a summer evening. The calamari app we shared was really good and, funny thing, my husband preferred the marinara sauce with it, but I really liked the lemony sauce. Husband said his hanger steak (?) was a very good piece of meat, which matters quite a lot to him. My rigatoni was fine, but nothing special. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but that wasn't it. I'm sorry I can't remember our waitress's name, but she was first rate! Too noisy in there, but everyone was having such a good time, it was a great experience.
We sat out on the patio to celebrate one of my girls’ birthdays and had a really fun time! The atmosphere was great, lots of shade on a very warm day. Our server was amazing; the food and drinks were fantastic! I think this might just be my new favorite place!!
Great Food Service and Vibe
Had the new pasta on the menu. Delicious.
Cauliflower app was perfect.
Ariana was fab and attentive.
We had a reservation for 6:30. Service was prompt and we had our meals delivered by 6:50. We were impressed with the speed and quality of the food and service. We'll keep coming back!
Very delightful meal on the patio, not much could be improved, but the price for what we ordered (18 for appetizer amount of tuna) seemed on the high end.
Dining on the patio was wonderful! From the cocktails to the desserts, we had a terrific night. Large portions and inventive specials. One of our favorite places in Bend!
Went to visit Washington on a recommendation and it was as good as they mentioned. We sat outside, which was nice. Great wine selection (I love a big chardonnay) and they had yummy ones to choose from. Food was good as well.
Washington always has an interesting menu, with something for everyone. The place is always hopping, so it's a fun place to be. Their outdoor area is private and extra nice on a warm evening. The service has always been good. Being able to make a reservation is a plus, but you can often walk in and find room at the bar, which is open to the outdoor area on nice days. I always recommend it to friends who are interested in a nice evening out.
The shrimp and grits was the best iteration in the past several years.
Very casual place with lots of families/kids, but the food was very good! We went on Sunday so spouse had the prime rib special. I had the Babette steak. Both were excellent. Manager was very friendly and helpful.
When I was there a couple weeks ago I loved the broccoli salad so much, it was thoroughly chopped, great texture and flavors, but this time it was big trees of broccoli so not as fabulous. I wish it had been like the first time.
With his being our go-to restaurant in Bend for all of our major occasions. We were a bit disappointed this time around compared to others. We had a reservation for our anniversary for a table and instead got seated at their "community" table. Not what we wanted.
The food was good but very hard to eat. We had a burrito and the avocado toast. Both of which were very pretty to look at but when actually trying to eat it was messy and hard.
As for the rest of the experience, it was not any better than the times we have been before. We just were not happy with this visit. We will be back though.
We were pushed out even though they had 45mins to close, we kept ordering things w/ plenty of time left as they had about 30-50 ppl left eating and sitting there too and they were letting every one else party, talk and eat they also made us figure out our own tab and we had to split
(write the amount @ top of receipt/ which card to charge for what items) it ourselves (there was just 2 of us). The waitress specifically said w/ a hateful attitude while walking away from our table:
“ Here I’ll let you guys figure it out!” They didn’t ask in the beginning if it needed to be split or offer to split it but
MADE US FIGURE IT OUT... It took a couple of times for us to ask for water for our dry glasses. They also own drake in town & I won’t support or try them cause of the poor customer service here and cause of how rude they are.
The food was not as good as usual. The fish tacos are our favorite, but we didn’t like the new green sauce or the giant avocado chunks. The tuna tartar was not good either. It looked like it had been previously frozen and didn’t taste fresh. The broccoli in the broccoli salad was very hard and the pieces were too large. The fried chicken on top of the salad was excellent. We have had several good experiences at Washington and will likely go back, but this visit, overall, was a disappointment .
Great food and great service. They made a mistake with one of our apps (brought regular fries instead of the zombie fries we ordered) but when we questioned it they brought the right order and comped it. Everyone makes the occasional mistake, how you respond to it is the real differentiator.
Great place! We can’t wait to go back
Made a reservation for 4 adults four days before on Open Table for 6pm on a Friday night. When we arrived they seated us in the bar next to the door leading out to the patio, not in the dining room area that is much quieter. It was so noisy we couldn't even talk to one another. People were seated next to us with no reservation.
Less than 5 minutes after we were seated, the server asked if we were ready to order, not do you want to start off with a drink/appetizer. When she brought the drinks she again asked if we were ready to order so obvious she was rushing us.
When she brought the food, she removed my drink glass (still about 25% drink left) without asking -
we have eaten here a few times and had a good experience so:
highly recommend that they don't accept reservations when the dining area is fully reserved and provide better training to the servers.
My reservation for 6 was accepted but there was no table upon arrival, after 30 minutes they tried to seat us in a booth but it was uncomfortable, finally a table opened up after an hour wait. The food was good but the service was inattentive, my water was never refilled.
Great atmosphere outside, great service. We are regulars and always enjoy the experience.
Mediocre food. Terribly loud inside with no decor. Had a reservation for outside but was told we would have to wait. Incredibly disappointed. Won't go back.
Awesome staff! We were getting dinner for a friend's bachelor party and they threw in some complimentary donut holes and even gave us some suggestions as to what to do after dinner! Quality experience!
I always have an amazing experience at Washington NWX. I love the staff, the atmosphere, the food. I often bring out of town business guests here, because I can trust the consistency and level of excellence. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This seems like a place you would not just stumble upon. Not being from Bend it was an interesting drive up a hill through what seems to be a newer developing neighborhood we came to Washington Dining near the top of the hill. No view though - not that that really matters.
The Power Salad was very fresh and nicely presented. The accompanying soup of the day (potato) was generous and filling.
The taco shells for the Rockfish tacos were too small.
The Bavette steak was perfectly prepared and the accompanying fritter was SUPER burn your mouth hot.
The rigatoni was nicely done also.
Food and service has always been a big plus here. Unfortunately we're not the only folks who feel this way. The restaurant can be VERY busy and as a result, quite noisy...both inside and out. If you can visit at somewhat "off" hours, you'll be in for a pleasant experience. Good food; prompt helpful servers and a restaurant you'll want to come back to. The food and service is always be good. But, when it's busy the noise levels can be troublesome.
The fried chicken was amazing, only wish you served it everyday.
Good salad. Appetizers limited selection of healthier options. Deserts could be more special...gorgeous patio!
Mollie was great and we had a very good meal and time.
We had the Pork special and the salmon special.
Both were outstanding. Salmon flavor was delicious.
Anxious to go back and try other entrees.
