Ingredients are at the heart of cooking. Even the same ingredient can have infinite varieties, depending on where, which season, or under what weather condition they were produced. It's not a matter of simply cutting and cooking, but how to make the best use of the ingredients by finding the best way to cook them. For instance, tuna can be eaten as sashimi, steak or simmered in soy sauce. Making good use of ingredients means that we see the conditions of the tuna first and then choose the best cooking style. Same goes for wine: even the producer is the same, the taste varies from each year of vintage, in which glass it is poured, or how long it has been aged. And sake can be dramatically different by the temperature it is served: hot, warm, or chilled.

Wasan Brooklyn is a warm and inviting restaurant. It has a very varied menu, the food was delicious, and the staff could not have been nicer. It’s super close to Barclays but if I lived closer, I would definitely be a regular. It is for sure going to be where I go anytime I’m going to Barclays.

Wonderful meal at small quiet well run restaurant. The $29.90 three course meal was wonderful! They added amuse bouche and soup. Excellent service. We went before seeing Celine Dion at Barclays center. Will return just for the restaurant! Great secret find.

It’s one of our favorite brunch places. My husband is Japanese and he appreciates the authenticity. The yellowtail or salmon cheeks are always great!

It took the restaurant AN HOUR AND A HALF to bring us our food. We didn't ask for any appetizer. Just a bento box and a few sushi rolls. The servers kept telling us "It's coming. Be patient". Then tried to offer us a sake shot while we waited... NEVER coming back here again.

We loved the food. The portions are surprisingly big (good and bad). The sashimi pieces are really good and tasty. I with the atmosphere was a little better in the restaurant. Overall it felt disconnected / cold ... I am not sure what is not quite there in term of atmosphere.

We had a reservation on NYE. We didn’t have to wait for our table. The food was amazing! The prices were fair. Would definitely go back.
