We came to restaurant on time. No waiting. 5 tables open and entire bar area open. We were told that they had problems with open table. I suspect that they had an employee shortage and decided to blame open table. Very tacky on New Years Eve!
The service was the worst I have ever had. It took 35 minutes just to get the drinks we ordered 35 minutes prior. The waitress was embattled with complaints and became defensively apologetic.
Obviously this place lacks proper management, to be short staffed on a busy night.
Great bento box meals. I did the salmon and my husband did the beef bento box. Great amount of food included especially if also craving California rolls and Veggie egg roll. We will be back.
Our server was awesome - very friendly and helpful!
The quality of the sushi was very disappointing. We have dined at other sushi restaurants and found the rolls at Wasabi Sushi Bar (Warson Woods location) beneath the grade. The food was bland and flavourless; very sub-par. However, our server did her job well and was courteous and pleasant. There was a toddler throwing food all over the floor while another screamed for a solid fifteen minutes. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
This was by far the worst experience I've ever had at this location. I have been a customer for nearly 10 years and this experience would likely make me not want to return. We sat waiting for 15 minutes for someone to even come to our table and take our drink orders. We then sat waiting for our sushi for nearly 2 hours! Our waitress repeatedly apologized about the wait and offered complementary appetizers but there really is no excuse that sushi should take two hours to make. It was relatively busy but not busy enough for that to be acceptable. The restaurant cleared out but even at this point it took a while for the sushi to come out. When we finally received the sushi it looked a mess and it was poorly put together and fell apart at the slightest touch. Whoever made the sushi clearly did not know what they were doing. There was also a man at the sushi bar making sushi with a large bushy beard that was very disturbing. I would not want to eat food made by this employee for sanitation reasons.
The fish was fresh and the portions were ample. I would definitely recommend Wasabi to anyone looking to have some quality sushi.
Food was fabulous. Service was too.
We eat here regularily, especially during happy hour.
Great to use Open Table so you don't have to wait. The sushi was very good, as usual. The food prep was a bit longer then usual, don't know why. We ordered a second small order to go and it took almost a half hour - way too long for a small order. The servers are nice and the sushi is always good.
Fresh sushi and amazing service! I would recommend going for lunch.
Good food, good service AT A REASONABLE PRICE. GOOD MENU SELECTION
Delicious Mali selection plus options for my picky kid! Kudos, Wasabi!
Spouse and I picked this place on a whim when looking for a dinner spot somewhat near where we were staying overnight. This restaurant came up in the list of nearbys, so we gave it a shot.
We were pleased overall - esp. with the food. Ambiance is pretty standard for a place in a strip mall, but our two-top table near the sushi bar wasn't too close to the next table to be annoying (a problem we run into often at other places). An air vent was blowing some cold air on both of us, but a quick order of hot saki took care of that. Other patrons on this Friday night filled up most of the other tables, with a mix of families (a couple younger kids who were behaving well), couples and random post-work friends.
We went with bento boxes - not our usual sushi order (we normally go with various rolls). Spouse's salmon-themed box satisfied, my fried pork box was excellent. Miso soup before was satisfying. Egg roll and tempura accompanying the boxes were okay, but not really all that necessary. We were both surprised with the amount of food in the boxes - leftovers ensued for the spouse (who said the next day that even cold, it was as good as the day before).
Service was friendly and competent. Price was fine - not rock-bottom bargain, but not overpriced, either.
First time having Sushi. Really enjoyed the food and experience
If you are into sushi this is a good choice. Many selections. All I have had have been very good. Usually have sake which is also good. Service has always been great. Ambiance is ok nothing spectacular noting disastrous.
Wasabi is one of my favorite sushi spots. We have always had excellent service and tasty sushi. This was our first time at the Warson Woods location and I really liked it. It's convenient and has a neighborhood vibe.
Always great food, service never so great. Server was not friendly at all. Didn't make any helpful recommendations.
We sat down before another couple and they had water, wine and appetizers before we got our water. After that, the service got better and the food was great.
Great service. Anska is great
Had reservations for 7:30pm on a Saturday, showed up right at 7:30 and the guy taking names looks completely surprised that we have a reservation. He looks flustered by the fact that we have a reservation, then sits us at a giant 6 top with chairs that are jammed in there, leaving little elbow room at table that is far too large for us. A long amount of time passes before the waitress shows up, but she is friendly and apologetic. We order drinks, I get a cola, date gets a martini, we are informed that there is only one bartender and the drink might take a while, which isn't a problem. It does take a while, but when it does come, not only does it not have the flower that is listed in the menu, but it is in a beer pint glass that is full of ice, "Sorry, we don't have any martini glasses." After this we order the food and we didn't see her again until she brought the final check. I don't know if she was afraid that we were mad about the drink or what, because every now and then a busboy would check to see if we needed refills.
The sushi was very good and extremely reasonably priced, but it was completely overshadowed by the poor service. I understand they were busy when we got there, but there were less than 7 tables for most of our night and we still had poor service.
The waitress had no clue what was going on. Tried ordering 3 times and finally the 4th time she took our order. They had no clean silverware and we were given plastic utensils. The sushi rolls we were served over half of them were falling apart as if they have never made them before. Had a great dining experience at the Town and Country location prior to visting Wars in Woods location. Never again will we go there. Hopefully Town And Country will live up to the 1st visit.
Good happy hour specials. We brought our 3 year old son with us and we noticed that there were other families with children. Wasabi is very accommodating to families. We will be back to enjoy more happy hour specials.
Wasabi is consistent in their food and service. Location and ambiance makes it a good family place to have sushi.
Slow poor service. Glum waitress. Inauthentic.
Great food and wait staff.
Great food and the staff is awesome
I live in Shanghai, China where has many Japanese Resturant. By Shanghai standards, the Udon noodle and the teriyaki chicken were good. Sashimi and sushi were so so and definitely tailored to locals. Overall it is one of the best Japanese food in St. Louis. It is edible in my opinion, other Sushi places are horrible.
Different and super tasty rolls, enjoyed a great night
