This is a regular spot for our date nights. Food is always fresh and delicious, service is always friendly and they are always diligent in accommodating dietary needs due to allergy. Can't wait for our next date night!
We had fresh bluefin sushi nigiri, interesting maki-rolls, and dishes such as honey-plum seared tuna, pickerel, new style sashimi etc. All were delicious
Mango shrimp, spinach in sesame dressing, green hornet, king salmon and Bluefin tuna were fresh. tangy and well presented by our friendly server. Great location but could use a decorating tuneup. Still one of favorite downtown restaurants.
I had the spicy mango prawns for an app
Wasabi doesn't have my fav roll on their menu but they made for me. They had great service and even better food. Would definitely go back
The sushi was delicious, the sake was hot, the service was great. It's in an old house so it feels private and high class. Clean. Short cab ride from downtown if it's too cold to walk. I eat sushi a couple of times a week all over North America and I would rate this place in the top 10%. Well done Wasabi!
Service was initially slow, but picked up once we'd placed our food order. Part of the problem at the outset seemed to be a stunning lack of stock -- they couldn't make a number of cocktails on the menu because they didn't have particular ingredients (even clamato juice and ginger ale), and were out of standard sushi fare (like crab, yellowtail). Apparently management had been on vacation and no one was capable of replenishing supplies in their absence. A really touch position to put the server in, having to apologize for everything the restaurant wasn't able to provide. Oh well, we were still able to order many of the dishes we were wanting and the food when it arrived was delicious.
As usual, the best sushi in town . The salmon was in fresh so we had the special amd a few other items- it was fabulous
Only disappointment was the sashimi- "Toro Toro". I had cartilage in the first bite. The pieces of fish were thick and poorly cut. Otherwise all was really great and I would go back,
The food is always excellent here! a private room is always great- unfortunately sometimes the service is slow when your the only one in the room! Otherwise we love coming to wasabi! We come often! It's excellent food!
Love the food! Service was good, but not great. I normally have better service here. Was disappointed that the second level was closed as well. However, the quality of the food is always worth a trip!
Had dinner with a friend here over the course of 2.5 hours. The food was fantastic, multiple courses spaced out, very fresh ingredients, vibrant flavours. I had the opportunity to speak with the owner who is also the chef before dinner and this gem of a restaurant has been open for 15 years. Service was generally good, not obtrusive, polite, perhaps a little off balance with the dining out that my friend and I enjoyed however. The restaurant still has a lovely ambiance and the evening was very memorable. Thank you very much!
Probably the best sushi restaurant in Winnipeg. It is expensive but worth it.
The food was absolutely delicious and the service excellent. Loved the local art displayed on the walls. It is well worth the price.
Very fast service and the food was excellent! Unique venue!
Our appetizer and main course came at the same time. The table beside us got their appetizer before us and they ordered after us. The food was delicious but we spent more time waiting to get our order taken and waiting for our order to arrive than it took to eat it.
We ordered a variety of dishes and each one was fantastic. Not one aspect of the night out here was out of place.
Met a customer. Quiet and easy to talk. Excellent food. Only thing is that parking is on the street but wasn't busy for my visit.
Reservation for 7pm. Greeted and seated immediately. But was left waiting for 20min due to confusion of tables and wait staff. Once corrected, server apologized and was professional and charming rest of evening.
Food was still good as we remembered. This is a neighbourhood gem, and one of our favourite sushi haunts in Winnipeg.
Looks like they have stepped away from some of the more traditional Japanese service presentations on food and drink... miss some of the older style items like plating and tea pots, but a restaurant I plan on eating at for years to come.
Black sesame ice cream was fun and refreshing finale to supper.
We found the quality of the food good. The service was good too. Its dependable.
