Great Valentines Dinner!
Everything was great!
Food an environment we’re good. Wasn’t please when I looked closer at my receipt and found a re-Corking fee for the wine bottle. Although the waitress asked, she didn’t explain costs. The cost of re-corking was $11 and all she did was push the cork in with her thumb. It wasn’t a sealed bag like other places do it. Next time pay me $11 to push my own cork in.
I get the rules and laws, but don’t ask me and then just shove the cork in with your thumb in front of me and charge me money.
Wonderful service and high quality food. Can’t wait to go back!!
The food here is a awesome! I actually crave the jalepeno tuna appetizer. The drink service can be a little slow when they are busy, but not a big deal.
We love this place and we will be back.
Even on an extremely busy night everything was outstanding. Wasabi Chi is our all time favorite Sushi restaurant in the metro and we are so happy to have one close to home.
The food is consistently delicious and beautifully presented.
Fantastic experience! Nice atmosphere with great service and the red curry was delicious. Will definitely return.
Marlissa was great. The food enjoyable. Becoming a favorite spot.
Wasabi in Prairie Trail in Ankeny is an upscale restaurant featuring a sushi bar as well as a full-service bar serving cocktails, wine, beer and saki. The modern facility with both high top tables and booths hip décor and large TVs over the bar. The decorative live edge wood planks along a back lit wall was imaginative, beautiful and different. I was impressed with the Oriental beers available including Japanese beers, expected in a sushi restaurant, as well as Chinese Tsingtao and Thai Singha. Edamame always goes well with drinks and the steamed soy beans were properly steamed with the appropriate amount of salt. Wasabi lists another appetizer as pan fried pork dumplings otherwise known as gyoza, the Japanese pot sticker. 6 dumplings were served with a soy-vinegar dipping sauce, the skins were thin as they should be and the filling moist and tasty. For our next course we ordered some nigiri sushi. The tuna and salmon sushi served with the traditional ginger and wasabi showed this restaurant really knows what it is doing. The fish was of a very high quality and extremely fresh while the rice underneath was just perfectly prepared and not excessive. Since we had never eaten here before we were reluctant to devote the entire meal to sushi but I assure you on our next visit it will be sushi all the way, that is if I can convince my wife not to order the grilled salmon teriyaki. The salmon teriyaki was perfectly prepared, a large moist portion of very fresh salmon that my wife declared as the best salmon teriyaki she had ever eaten, quite a compliment from a salmon lover. I ordered the Yaki Niku Beef, described on the menu as char-grilled beef with seasoned vegetables with yaki niku sauce. The dish was served on an oval cast iron plater sitting on an oval wooden tray that more resembled how fajitas are served. The yaki niku sauce is slightly sweet and while the beef was tender the vegetables were somewhat mushy. Although that dish was tasty, there are so many other in
Overall the food was very tasty. I didn’t care for the calamari as I’ve never had it prepared this way and it’s always been breaded. Otherwise the food was wonderful. It would be nice if you separated those that are bringing small children to dinner from those that are not dining with children.
Ayusa was our waitress and she did an amazing job! Not only help us with the selection of the right appetizers and the roll selection but her attitude make of this dinner a great experience!!
Excellent food, great service, felt a bit rushed but like this place
If you haven't been to Wasabi in Ankeny yet, you need to go! Wonderful service, amazing food, yummy drinks, beautiful atmosphere!
Expensive, in comparison to 16 other similar places visited in the last 3 months. Chirashi Dinner portion served was below expected, price is almost 25% above other similar restaurants. Saporo Beer at 10% above cost of other places.
Great food get the Poke leave room for the sushi
This was nice night- it is darker and more romantic, nice atmosphere. The brussels sprouts were very good, the sushi was good too. Service was quick. Not a lot of vegan options on the menu, but they had standard sushi restaurant fare.
The food was excellent and beautifully presented. Our server was charming. However, we had reservations but still had to wait 10-15 minutes for a table then another 10 for a server to come by. The restaurant is beautiful but there was loud dance music with an unrelenting beat. Made it nearly impossible to talk. We will return but not on a Friday. Maybe it will be quieter.
I liked the food and our waitress was awesome but the music was very loud - I could barley hear my boyfriend sitting right across from me. We’ll be back, but probably not for an anniversary dinner!
Hands down one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve had in a long time. We sat at the bar across from the sushi chefs and ordered drinks and the dinner for two. The quality of the food and drink is amazing and so fresh. The service was perfect and timely as well. The owner came by and talked with us for a long time and spoke about his story and the sushi process and answered questions we had. He is super nice and personable!! This is the only place we will go for sushi from now on as nothing else will be able to compare
We can't wait to go back! The best Sushi we have had in a long time. We had a GREAT waitress and everything we ordered was AMAZING. Ankeny Roll was our favorite!!!
Great location in the heart of Prairie Trail and an upscale, contemporary atmosphere. Ample staff servicing the customers even during the soft opening. Typical, location unique, quality menu with eclectic cocktail selections. Mark this one as a must do.
Great sushi and ramen was delicious. Welcome to Ankeny!
