I reserved on a Sunday to take my girlfriend to Sunday brunch along with some friends. I clicked the box for the event "birthday," but I didn't mention it when we arrived. The birthday girl wasn't "treated" to anything other than an interesting waitress. I didn't realize my meal would be hot with spice, and I slowed way down while everyone else finished their meal. I waited for the waitress to come back, in order to order some butter (hoping butter would bring down the heat). The birthday girl said, "I can't wait to hear what the waitress says about that." "She's certainly honest," according to another bemused guest. Perhaps, the biggest disappointment for my guests was that the breakfast sandwich was sold out and no quiche was available. I don't think my guests will go back to Wandering Vine. However, I had a pleasant experience at Wandering Vine with some lady friends a few months ago, and I may try it again if they decide to go back.

Wandering Vine’s brunch is a favorite. Food is delicious and the owners know how to take care of their guests. Outdoor patio was perfect for a beautiful fall afternoon. Definitely will return!

Very pricey for what you get. No potato and salad is extra and very lacking. I had the Caesar and it was covered with grated parmesan (too much) and had very little dressing that was tasteless. Halibut was excellent but the gnocchi was another tasteless part of the meal. Disappointing as a whole - all the food was very bland and tasteless. I would recommend just to see the venue, but would warn of the price and lack of sides. Dessert was another disappointment - very small serving and didn't even include ice cream - another extra. Service and venue was excellent.

New to the area and dined here for our anniversary. Read so many positive reviews and our experience exceeded them all. The ambiance, service, unique menu selections, wine and cocktail options, and even live music the evening of our visit. I can’t even determine my favorite part of the experience as everything was amazing. The focaccia bread, soup, salad, entrees and desert. I had the scallops and my wife had the halibut. Perfectly prepared and paired with vegetables. Truly wanted to take the chef and kitchen staff home with us! Cannot believe that this gem exists in Shawnee. My wife and I give it the highest possible recommendation…AND it was a great value!

Everything was top notch from beginning to end with our 1st Wandering Vine experience. Evan at the bar was friendly and made a perfect cosmo for me and old fashioned for my husband. Then upstairs Becky made fantastic recommendations, the service and food were exceptional. I had the Halibut and loved every bite. We finished with the banana peanut butter cheesecake, oh my! The atmosphere is quaint and very lovely, perfect for a quiet, classy night out. The owners, Dan & Carla both stopped by our table to check on us and have a quick chat, very kind people. We can't wait to go back for brunch. Cheers!

What a wonderful place! No matter whether I come for brunch, lunch, dinner, or for a special event I am always blown away by the care and dedication that the staff put into every interaction and every detail. Even their bread is baked fresh in-house daily! Dinner: Always get a cup of soup to start with. It changes almost daily and always have some kind of unique twist or taste. All main dishes are great, but their Halibut is second to none! Lunch: Always check in on the sandwich of the day (BLT with candied bacon!!), I am partial to the fish sandwich personally. Brunch: Cannot go wrong with any choice - get a mimosa and the fresh baked (in-house!) pastry platter!!! Wine Choices: You won't find the standard marked up bottles here. Ownership has specifically curated the wine list for wines that they know taste great and aren't unnecessarily marked up. Wines range from 25 dollars a bottle to 800 a bottle (with the majority being between 40 and 80 a bottle). No wrong choices here, great place to try something new! They also have wine flights to sample three kinds of wines for 17 to 39 dollars total. Kitchen is always willing to try something new or manage a special request, especially with advanced notice and discussion. My partner is vegetarian and she's always been very impressed with food options and taste. Why are you still reading this? Go make a reservation and try it out!

This is a great locally owned fine dining experience. The service was great! Food amazing! The owners were present to answer questions and tell about the history of the castle. Love the airy, bright and eloquent atmosphere. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a place to eat with a loved one, family or friends. Perfect for a special occasion or a date night. Will definitely be back again!

So impressed!! Can’t wait to go back, everything we had was done so well! Burrata and pesto crostini, charred jumbo shrimp, the halibut (still think about this almost daily!) and pork chop on beef stock risotto! Didn’t have room for dessert. The owners and the staff really made this an experience that was so much more than food! You can feel how much they care about providing a great dinner service!

My favorite place in Kansas City! The owners are welcoming and the food is excellent! I had the chicken pot pie and the crust was flaky and perfectly cooked and the filling was excellent! This is my go-to restaurant when you want something special. Highly recommend!

Mixed, as the food and drink are very good. The wait staff bumbled the evening with awkward commenting, rushing, and seemingly distaste for her job/guests. Also, our communicated special occasion resulted in no actions by the staff. Seemed like a missed opportunity for making a rememberable evening.

The Wandering Vine is our favorite place to eat in all of Kansas! We love having Randy as our server - she is funny and kind and full of information when we ask for it. The variety and choice of food served is just right - not too much or too little. And everything we've ever had to eat is wonderful. Your cook is a keeper! It is expensive but when a person tastes the food, you won't regret paying what is charged. So delicious and served so eloquently. Thank you for having a place like this in Kansas City.

Beautiful place, food was great. We were there for my daughter’s birthday brunch. Very strange interactions with our waitress however. Asked if a modification of brunch menu item was available, I received a tirade of why it wasn’t. We all thought she was joking at first. She later mocked a teen guest who was thanking her for filling her water. She was mid bite and her “thank you” came out a bit muffled like we all have done. Waitress responded “yrrr weelcm”. Not great feedback to a teen trying her best to be polite. I felt like we were at a place like Dick’s Last Resort where they are mean to you on purpose. Super strange.

Service and venue were wonderful! We were very let down by the quality of the food however. Neither of us loved our dishes. I was expecting a much higher caliber of food based on the menus pricing. Great place if you're looking for a nice vibe and good drinks. Hoping maybe the kitchen was just not on their A game this evening.

Perfect spot if you enjoy wine (beer as well) with your meal. They have an extensive selection of every variety, and also offer wine flights for those who wish to try something new. The menu is chef driven and although not too extensive, includes a nice variety of options. The venue itself is unique and comfortable. A very nice change from the standard "restaurant" atmosphere. It was a pleasure being able to converse amongst ourselves, without having to talk over noise from other patrons. The service was exemplary, from start to finish. The owner made a point of stopping by our table more than once, to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction, and even gave us a history of the property. We found this to be a lovely dining experience and definitely plan to return.

We had an excellent meal at Wandering Vine... all of our dishes were great. Service was friendly, attentive and helpful. I took one star away for price, because, they are a little on the pricey side, but in retrospect, prices here are very competitive when compared to other high end restaurants.... so, yeah, compared to someone like applebees, their prices are high, but compared to Silo, Sullivans, the Savoy... their prices are quite reasonable. Looking forward to our next visit already!

We love eating at Wandering Vine. It's a unique and beautiful venue both inside and outside. The food is outstanding. We had brunch there most recently and found that they really do have the best cinnamon rolls in town. Management is delightful and accommodating. The staff is friendly. Highly recommend everyone check them out.
