You will not be rushed. The Caesar Salad was nondescript and the Pork Milanese needed some sauce to give it taste. My partners Salmon Teriyaki was good.
If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind dining experience, with locally-sourced meats (and cheeses too, if I remember correctly), The Walnut Room is that place. It's in a beautifully-restored hotel in downtown Green Bay. Two years ago they put out a Mother's Day brunch buffet for the ages--I even took a video of it! This year, there was no buffet, but Ryan, our server, brought us fresh fruit and a lovely selection of pastries to start us out. We had the option to choose from a breakfast entree or a luncheon/dinner entree. My husband opted for a petite filet with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus; I chose a portabella boursin ravioli in a delicious sauce. I added grilled asparagus, which was done to perfection. The meal included a dessert, and Ryan brought us a two little dishes of chocolate Nutella mousse, three spoons of creme brulee, and three little lemon tarts topped with a fresh raspberry. It was utterly delightful! Ryan brought a single peach carnation with the bill. Someday I plan to bring a friend and start working my way through their wine room.
Very cool old re-furbished hotel. Very disorganized dining experience. We had reservations and came on time. Hostess made us wait while addressing several groups that didn't have reservations. All for no good reason as the tables are well separated for distancing and many empty tables were available.
Coffee and water came promptly. Meal came reasonably quickly, but my wife didn't get what she ordered and what was brought had to go back. We asked for a spoon to eat the berries side dish, but it never came. An elderly lady near by us waited longer than us for her meal, and she sent it back because it was cold to her - twice. Our meal was not at all hot, more lukewarm, which doesn't work for eggs.
We noticed similar experiences for other diners. Just seems like they need more direction and focus.
Last curiousity, there are no staff in the hotel lobby, just a bell to ring. Put a mask on and have staff greet the public as they enter the building! Strange place!
For a higher priced breakfast try Grapevine or English Inn. Much better run.
Lovely setting and good steaks. Ate at the bar and the bartender was friendly and efficient.
The drinks, food and the service were superb. We had a great time celebrating our anniversary and marriage of our friends! Bartender made up some very unique drinks. Dinner was delicious- the scallops melted in your mouth. They even surprised us for the celebration with mini creme brulee's. Perfect touch! Well done!!
This is our third time for dining at the Walnut Room, and our experience was as good as on the previous visits. The food is excellent and the service is as well. On a Friday night the room had only four tables being served, so any concern over Covid quickly vanished. Definitely worth a try.
Pleasantly surprised. We stayed at the hotel and rooms are updated and stylish. Service supurb. The Walnut Room is grand and classic. The marble bar super cool. Drinks were made fabulously, fresh cosmos and margarita's were over enjoyed! Definately will come back.
Understaffed. Eggs on the eggs Benedict were over cooked and food was served barely warm
I appreciated that they were still practicing COVID safety guidelines. Service was excellent. Food was just okay. For upscale dining I was hoping for something more refined.
Great ambiance overall very good. Soup courses a bit thin. Had to flag server down a couple of times .
Delicious. The Corned Beef Hash Benedict was superb 😋
It was kind of weird, when we walked in, only one table was being used. We asked for a corner table, and the host said no. So, we assumed that someone had reserved the table. Throughout our meal and when we left, no one sat there. It was not a busy night at all. We were a bit disappointed with her. She kept trying to seat everyone next to each other, which was also odd.
2 of my party had salmon and they were disappointed with the quality and taste. Our waitress was wonderful.
We enjoyed a wonderful vegan meal here. Definitely coming back!
If you like high quality food, excellent service, and a great bar...this is the place for you!
We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our 29th Anniversary in this wonderful art deco atmosphere.
Server was very friendly and attentive. Eggs Benedict was Delicious!
We had great service, very efficient. It was relatively quiet. The food was wonderful. We will be back in the future.
Just outstanding in every way!!!!!
We were seated by the bar and a party of 12 were less than a few feet from us. Noisy and Covid. Bad situation
I had heard that the Northland was very nice but we were very disappointed. Most portions were very small and the smoke flavor in the purée was so overwhelming that I couldn’t eat it. There was next to no seasonings in the other portions. I had high hopes but will not return.
Our waitress’s name I believe was Laura, we actually had her last year and she remembered us. She was super nice and fun and made our dinning experience great. The food, drinks and atmosphere were all very nice.
First time dining here. We weren’t disappointed!!! Delicious!!!! My husband had the elk and I had the blackened Halibut. There was a wedding just outside the walnut room upstairs so it was pretty loud.
Service was great, the food wasn't considering what we paid. Very unhappy & will not return
The Walnut Room is beautiful fine dining room set in the historic Hotel Northland that is a wonderful dining destination and even more so for a celebration or during the holidays. Service is formal yet warm and most always spot. The wine list is also a bright spot with an extensive variety of stellar selections. This particular evening being Christmas Eve there was a pre fixe menu making dining selections pretty easy. The star entree at our table was the Saffron Pappardelle (made in house) with scallop, shrimp, crab, mussels and lobster in a bouillabaisse broth and our accomodating server Nicole. A lovely way to enjoy dinner during the holiday.
An excellent setting in an old historic hotel. The food was superb -we had elk loin and shrimp tempura. Upscale yet casual with a feeling of being cared for in the best possible way.
The service was great, also the food, the only thing was the portions were a little smaller than previous dining
Wonderful, Socially distant, covidv responsible dinner
Service was excellent. The food was very good but not quite as good as usual. The elk loin was more of an elk chop, which was unexpected. The blackened halibut was excellent. Portions on the accompanying sides were a bit sparse. Our waitress was superb!
We felt very comfortable being there during COVID times.
Everything works so well here!
We started going to the Walnut Room for our anniversary and have enjoyed it every time. The food is excellent, the staff are all fantastic, and they know how to make it special for you. We look forward to eating there every year.
Our first time there and everything was first class. Food was great along with the service.
Amazing celebration for our anniversary. Clean, safe and immaculately executed! Loved the creme brulee!!
Everything was great, service was wonderful! The only suggestion we would have is for them to turn up the music a little bit. It’s always so quiet in there that you feel like you have to whisper. If there was a little bit more volume on the background music, I think it would help people loosen up and make it feel more lively and welcoming.
Food was very good, setting is great. Ordered cocktails before dinner, also quite good. Service was fabulous!
The Walnut Room is the perfect date night or special occasion destination. The food and service were exquisite. The cozy and historic feel of the lovely dining room is unmatched. We truly love this restaurant and want to support it through these hard times. It is a special landmark in Green Bay. Go there soon!
Knowledgeable staff, friendly service and amazing quality food served well prepared. Enjoyed every moment. One of the best food experiences in Green Bay.
Great place for a romantic meal. Staff is really friendly.
A definite place to visit when traveling to Green Bay.
This is a beautiful restaurant with outstanding food and service. We had dinner here during restaurant week and the food was absolutely delicious. Very creative dishes with options for both omnivores and vegetarians. Our server Laura was fantastic! Highly recommended. We will definitely be back to try the regular menu.
We went for GB restaurant week and everything was amazing. The food was very unique, we were big fans of the smoked old fashioneds. We will be back again!
Our overall experience was fantastic. We went for restaurant week and couldn’t say enough great things about food or waitress.
