Walnut Grill - Wexford
We had the full experience from drinks, to app, a meal, and dessert. The service was a bit slow, including getting our check picked up since we were waiting for about 20 minutes. Overall a nice place for a drink and meal. We had the fried Brussels sprouts, they are worth a try. If you’re getting dessert, the cheesecake sounds like a good option (3 seasonal flavors), but we were disappointed to find that it was essentially three pieces of plain cheesecake with different toppings. One slice had some fruit jam on top, but the actual cheesecake was still plain. We will definitely be back, though we may choose to sit at the bar for faster service next time.
Two of us arrived together to meet a friend. The friend arriving alone had been seated on the patio. We told the hostess that we were meeting someone. We arrived at 5:55pm for a 6pm reservation. Apparently, none of the staff speak to each other. At 6:15, the friend who arrived alone texted me to ask if we were still meeting her. I had to reply that we had been there for 20 minutes—she had as well. No one put two and two together on the staff??? Also, service was spotty. We received menus, but it took another 15 minutes to place a drink order. For a Friday night, they weren’t super busy. The drink orders, food orders and then food delivery took forever. The food was good, but the experience was not due to the lack of quality service.
This place never disappoints on food, service, setting.
Love Walnut Grill anytime!
I had made the reservation in advance as a special treat for a friend; we were celebrating her birthday. I indicated when I made the reservation for 2 that it was for a birthday. When we arrived, much to my embarrassment, I was told we did not have a reservation; although I know I made on on-line. I did not have my confirmation number with me. Needless to say, I was not pleased; more embarrassed. The food was good and we were able to be seated outside. The waitress was attentive and I thought she did a good job. I was so disappointed that I took the time to make the reservation and then was told I did not have one.
Good breakfast. Everything was hot and tasty. Service was pretty good. Liked being able to have a Mimosa !
The service at this time was particularly quick, which is helpful when you have an antsy 1 year old. Food was delicious.
As usual, Walnut Grill delivers. It's a nice restaurant with a moderately-price menu. The food is above-average and the service was attentive but not overwhelming even on a busy evening. We started off with some appetizers and a bottle of wine. The timing between the appetizers and the entrees was well-managed and we didn't feel rushed. There's ample parking and the restaurant also has outdooring seating with a bar and tables.
Prices too high, atmosphere was poor, service was poor.
Sat outside as requested.
Really nice seating areas outdoors. Nice ambience.
Waitress was good.
Had a foreign object in my soup which they took off the bill and offered a replacement. Steaks came out well-done when asked for medium (we didn’t complain about it). Salad had wilted greens mixed in.
Really nice location. Friendly, attentive service.
Food and food quality is average at best.
Menu appears to be the same from two years ago. No updated items that I could discern.
We had our lunch on the patio and it was beautiful. Our drinks and food were very good.
Everyone at Walnut Grill is very friendly. Our server was Brielle, she was so sweet and very
efficient. Thank you Walnut Grill and Brielle.
Off night for sure. Normally, Walnut Grill is very good. However, my experience this meal was different. We ordered appetizers (lettuce wraps) and before we even took a bite, our entrees were brought out. No bread, no opportunity to enjoy our meal in courses. I'll return, and hope things have changed.
Evening dinner on a Tuesday at Walnut Grill. The draft beer was warm, took forever to get it. Turkey burger was good, side dish of garlic mashed potatoes was disappointing and quite a small portion. Won't be back any time soon.
My wife’s birthday.
Never got soup as the side we chose with meal and they said they’d take it off but then didn’t because it was included in price if entree and offered free desert which we weren’t hungry for but they did nothing as an apology for forgetting soup
Where to start... We had a appetizer of fried pickles. They were limp, and tasted like the fryer had about 3 inches of burned sediment on the bottom of it. My sons food...Mac n cheese , sliced pears and applesauce. Pears came out looking tarnished. Once I picked through the the brown ones I tasted one and tasted like they were sitting in lemon water. Bland and tart. I had a Korean bbq salmon bowl. On the menu it read really well . What I got was not so good. The Asian pickled slaw was simply raw Napa cabbage chopped with scallions. There was no pickled onions. There was no sesame seeds. There was no grilled scallions. When we got the bill I was shocked at the amount of money we spent compared to the quality of food we got. Not to mention the amount of fruit fries buzzing around our table. Total bill came to $88 with Tip. Had the bill been $40 I would have been ok and excepted what we got. Not for what we paid. Hopefully this helps in correcting your issues.
Always reliable for great food, good service, and a nice atmosphere.
I ordered the breakfast burrito for brunch the other day without the sweet chili and it came out with tons of sausage in it.
Sausage is NOT under the description for the burrito...candied bacon is noted . The server took it off of our bill and they cooked a new one to go which was very nice.
The menu needs updated though if there is sausage in it.
Great food and service! A little expensive but it was worth it
Unfortunately we wanted to have a quick bite while seated on the patio. We waited for our food, which was only three appetizers, for about an hour. Our waiter was taking care of more than half of the patio seating so we ended up having to get our own drinks. Not what we expected. He was never able to come back and ask us if we needed anything until we were finished with our meals and ready to get the check. Very disappointing
Service was fantastic. There was a delay from kitchen, and service staff and management was very accommodating
Loud atmosphere. Food selection and taste was great but service was not.
My sister-in-law and I were there Sunday for the Father's Day brunch. It was excellent. We loved that you served an omelette of our choice at our table. Everything on the buffet was excellent. The service was very good. Thank you Walnut Grill.
Walnut Grill is o e of the places I go most often, and I usually give it better marks. This time we went for Father’s Day brunch and had a few issues:
* it being a special occasion, they had only a brunch buffet and were not serving their normal breakfast/brunch menu. We found this to be disappointing as we were looking forward to the normal options. This is partly on us for not finding out about this ahead if time, but I think it could have been noted more prominently (at all?) on their web site or on their Yelp entry.
* the food on the buffet was a little hit and miss. Some items were just fine ( the French toast, roast beef) and some were a disappointing (the hash browns/home fries seemed like they’d ben on the steam table for an hour even though we arrived only 20 min after opening)
* It was a little pricey. Nearly 30$ per person for the buffet with coffee or OJ for each of us (with both coffee and OJ an extra charge). 25$ would have been OK, 20$ a really good price. If you’re going to eat a lot, you can make the 30$ worth while, but since we’re trying not to overeat, we didn’t really get our money’s worth.
With their normal menu and service, I expect I’d give them my normal (for them) 4 stars. For the brunch buffet, though, only 2.5.
Food and service was amazing
Excellent service and food. The kids meals were some of the largest I've seen!
Everything was great, per usual. Doesn't seem to matter which location, the service and food are always on point. Minor issue this time was one person in my party ordered egg whites and got regular eggs, but wasn't a huge deal.
We are at Walnut Grill a lot and it never disappoints. Our meals were excellent, and also our drinks. Aaron was our server, and as always, he does an amazing job, and we really appreciate him. Thank you Walnut Grill and Aaron.
On a Friday early evening already out of items on menu saying didn’t have time to prepare more . ( pickled vegetables) appetizer.
Waitress was very nice and tried to be helpful which made the experience better . Right before I left I used the ladies room it was one of the dirtiest restaurant restrooms I have used in a long time . Needs a really good clean and some TLC .
We go their every Friday for lunch. We love Walnut Grill, for the friendly staff, the food and how clean
it is, and of course the atmosphere. Our server was Aaron, and as always he is the best of the best. I recommend Walnut Grill to everyone. Thank you Walnut Grill and Aaron.
Let me first say that our server did the best she could at a time the rest of the restaurant staff underperformed -- she worked as hard as she could at a time the place was extremely short-staffed, both in the kitchen and on the floor. Nonetheless .... we waited at least 30 minutes at our table before we saw any food or drink beside water. Once our order was taken, our server ultimately prepared our salads in the kitchen due to the shortage in the kitchen. In general, the food at this Walnut Grill, in Wexford, was fair, but no more. There is another suburban Walnut Grill location in the Pittsburgh area, and I hope their food and overall customer efforts are far better than the experience we had earlier this week. At the end, we felt badly for our server, who tried her very best.
Food was really good. We sat outside and had a very relaxing enjoyable evening
They forgot our appetizer until we were already done eating our entrees and we had to mention it. The white wine my mother in law ordered was warm. I ordered the carrot side from the kids menu for my son and they were cold and hard (I expected that they would be cooked carrots). The fruit cup I ordered for my son looked like it was just half of the white remnants near the rind of a watermelon. The New England clam chowder my father ordered was watery. The Caesar dressing on my salad tasted overwhelmingly of horseradish. They sat us in a room in the back all alone that looked like a banquet room and was just silent and awkward. Very little ambience. Not worth the money.
The food is alwAys good. Occasionally even great. This time was more good. We sat inside which is nice but the best experience is sitting outside on a warm night.
Had great service and food as always from Erica and Jocelyn! It is my favorite place!
Mother’s Day dinner.
Good time except that they ran out of some of their specials
The food was average and the service was slow. The music selection was frankly a bit odd (80s dance) and way too loud.
We were placed in a banquet room with a large group who was very noisey. When we were waited on the waitress seemed very frustrated and was not pleasant at all. We ordered our meal and about 10 minutes later the waitress came back to tell me wife they were out of what se ordered.
She ordered a different meal and when the meals finally came mine was cold. The waitress took it back and envtually told me they were goin to make me a new meal. Mine came after my wife and daughter had already finished theirs.
The manager came and apologized and took my meal of the bill and offered us a complimentary dessert. Of course what we ordered they only hade one of so the three or us shared one dessert. We were given a $25 gift card by a different manager.
It was very obvious the the staff was frustrated as they would gather outside the entrance to the room we were in and complain.
I have been to this place a few times before and was satisfied. However, I do not intend to visit this restaurant in the near future if at all.
