Walnut Grill - Fox Chapel Ratings and Reviews
We met at Walnut Grill because it is a middle point for our location and those we were meeting. Waitress was friendly brought us drinks quickly ordered quickly and food came relatively quickly. I had a special request I asked that they not put the rosemary garlic butter on my mixed grill they did anyway,I did not think it was that difficult. I water glasses were filled once during dinner would’ve preferred they be be filled every time they were empty. The room we were in was extremely loud there was a group of 11-year-old girls having a dinner at a birthday party. This made it hard for us to hear our own conversations but we did our best. I had made a reservation so you kind of expect that you won’t just be Put anywhere in the restaurant. Next time I’ll make sure if we go back there that I request a quieter location. If I wanted to sit in a noisy room to have dinner I would sit in the bar
My family recently visited Walnut Grill for Sunday brunch to celebrate my father's birthday.
- The omelet station is decent, including the prime rib carved at the station. And the cook/chef making the omelets couldn't have been nicer.
- The fruit, including cantaloupe and honeydew, was surprisingly tasty for being out-of-season.
- The rest of the offerings were limited and average at best. For example, the French toast and pancakes were cold and dry. Our server was apologetic and offered to have the kitchen make fresh French toast and pancakes, but she didn't follow through.
- Gosh, the ambiance borders on depressing.
Bottom line: Though I can't say I'd recommend Walnut Grill, it's not the worst place. We walked away unsatisfied, but agreed that "at least it's not expensive."
Our waitress was really so distracted to the point of forgetting two people's soups and then when reminded she brought the wrong soups. Her service was slow although I think she was doing the best she could. All four of us agreed that our appetizers which were our meal essentially were not good but here again we ordered breaded zucchini planks which are not terribly healthy to begin with. I have had nice meals there before....this was just an off night.
I may not go back there again. Too many other choices of restaurants.
My wife and I are regular customers. We take advantage of the veterans day on Tuesdays which is very nice, but we come on other days, also. My wife and her girlfriends come for a girl's day lunch occasionally and are always pleased. Keep up the good work. There is always room for a nice neighborhood establishment like yours. P.S. the servers and the manager are always nice.
at first glance restaurant does not look impressive. HOWEVER, the food was excellent and the service was great. My husband had a great steak and I enjoyed a mixed grill. Wednesday is half price on a bottle of wine and we had a very good wine. If you live nearby, this is a great place to go for good food.
I've gone there many times and have never had a bad experience with their food until 12/13/17. My fish and fries tasted as if they had been soaking in grease all night long and my husband's corned beef sandwich was very skimpy on the meat. It definitely wasn't up to their normal standards.
We are a frequent customer to Walnut Grill and always enjoy it. This time they were very busy and we had to ask for a server since no one seemed to be assigned to our table. We still felt a bit forgotten even when we finally received our dinners. But our waitress made up for it by taking our beverages off the tab. I know every place has their off nights, but at least they tried to acknowledge it. It won't stop us from going back.
