Walnut Grill - Fox Chapel Ratings and Reviews
We are a frequent customer to Walnut Grill and always enjoy it. This time they were very busy and we had to ask for a server since no one seemed to be assigned to our table. We still felt a bit forgotten even when we finally received our dinners. But our waitress made up for it by taking our beverages off the tab. I know every place has their off nights, but at least they tried to acknowledge it. It won't stop us from going back.
Overall enjoyed the food... steak was very good... wife had beat salad with crab cake... son had fish tacos... a bit disappointed with change in menu selection.... they took the lamb dinner off the menu. This was truely the reason I chose to dine there . The restaurant had an avg crowd... a menu I had had food stuck to it and was rather sticky and there was broken glass on the floor next to our table... which was cleaned when noticed by our waiter.
Have been here several times and never disappointed with the food nor service. Went out of my comfort zone on this visit and had a seasonal special, Pacific Rim. A nice blend of tastes and textures, and a lovely presentation (should have taken a photo). Glad I went out of my comfort zone. I know the seasonal dishes may not be unique to each Walnut Grill, but in any case, compliments to the chef on the interesting combination of tastes and textures, and the lovely presentation.
My husband & I had a really nice dinner. We both had the crab cakes, seasonal vegetables and a salad. We started with the stuffed banana peppers and they were tasty with spicy sausage but not too spicy and sauce and mozzarella cheese...so cheesy. The crab cakes were some of the best! Chunks upon chunks of real crab, delicious! Salads are a little small but the bread was soft and then crunchy on the outside. My only complaint were the side veggies, the squash was over cooked and mushy but the broccoli & green beans were barely cooked. Didn't ruin the meal but would have made it perfect had they been better. We'll be back, everything else, including Kimi, was great!
Normally this a lunch place for us. Slightly wider menu selection than most. Fresh ingredients, etc. This time we tried it for dinner. I had the NY strip, and wife had pork tenderloin. Both had the fingerling potatoes and the veggies. Great pieces of meat, done perfectly. Sides were exceptional. So was the house-made crème brûlée. We were pleasantly surprised. Just a notch or two better than expected. Jason was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Good meal!
We've been dining at Walnut Grille for over 3 years, and have been quite happy with the service and the menu until recent changes have been made. We miss a number of menu items such as: coleslaw, Chicken Spiedini, and the side order of fried Brussels sprouts. The drink specials are great, and so is the beer list. The particular evening we visited, we noticed how slow the service was. This was due to a scheduled private meeting going on. However, knowing this, the restaurant should've been better staffed.
Went on a Sunday at 5pm. Got seated immediately. The menu is American, has something for everyone; soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees, pasta, poke bowls. We had a party of 7. Service was attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Salmon was delicious as well as the lobster bisque & pasta dishes. Reasonably priced. Would go back again.
We enjoyed our dinner very much and used the birthday coupon we received via email but I made the reservation via open table and was a little disappointed that we couldn't get the free dessert since we used the birthday coupon but will definitely go back again
We generally go to Walnut Grille in Fox Chapel. We love it there! The staff is courteous, caring and efficient. The menu is never "worn out". There are always new dishes to try and that aspect makes it an attractive place to go. The prices are perfectly reasonable, the appetizers are always updated as are the entrees. The wait staff knows every nuance of the menu , the kitchen is efficient meaning that no matter how busy they are, you never feel like your order was misplaced or forgotten. Yep, Walnut Grille is worth it EVERY time!!
OMG! What an experience last night! We will definitely be back to this place! This was the first time we have been here and we were not disappointed. The staff was incredible. The food was soo good and the desserts had our tastes buds in love!!
We love experiences and truly from the moment that we walked in, the hostess to our waitress and even the managers taking care of us was so great! Love when we go to establishments that truly appreciate those that choose to dine with them. It makes the whole meal when you can have great conversations but also eat amazing food!
I had the Parmesan Crusted Chicken & Gnocchi last night and I couldn't stop even though I was getting full and knew we were getting dessert! Haha. The options and great and we loved the feel of the outdoor dining area. It was perfect. By the end of the night, we had the whole place to ourselves and had so much fun on our dinner date. We will be back to this place for sure to try out the other dishes soon!
We highly recommend
Sunday brunch leaves a lot to be desired. Food is average or below average. Omelettes lacked seasoning, no salt or pepper added by the "chef" and too much grease used in the pan. Precooked food was poor and not much to choose from. No bread or rolls of any kind, no jam or jelly, butter did not seem like real butter, probably margarine. Overall, I would not recommend it for brunch.
