Walnut Grill - Fox Chapel
Walnut Grill's menu offers many great choices. I particularly love the fried brussel sprouts and several of the salad offerings. The food is terrific.
Our service; however, was not great. The waitress was friendly but very inattentive. I waited a ridiculously long time for a glass of ice! And our food took an unreasonably long time.
Despite the less than good service, I would go back again, hoping it was an isolated incident.
The food was great as always. Service was perfect. Our waitress Mary was excellent
Our server was the best and the food was amazing. We had a mini celebration and he made the day special
Wonderful service and great brunch! We all really enjoyed our time at Walnut Grill!
I would recommend the restaurant, but not the buffet. We arrived around 1:30 and it looked like it was ending. Food was not refilled, salad looked like it had been sitting out too long, the meet was cold, the pastries were limited. Overall I love the regular menu, however I would not go to the holiday buffet again.
We visited for Mother’s Day brunch as we have in prior years. for the cost of the brunch the quality of the food was subpar. When we first approached the buffet many of the food stations were empty and it was not very busy after 10 am. Food was refilled but much was cold or in the case of eggs Benedict tasted like vinegar. The selection of offerings was downgraded from previous years and for $80+ for three adults I would expect better quality and offerings. For the cost I would recommend the Gran Concourse as an alternative.
Sat on patio for lunch. Embarrassed for manager to welcome guests to a patio with busted chairs, wobbly tables, and a floor that looked like it hadn’t been swept or cleaned in days. I get that the wind can be a problem with outside seating, but it was not currently a windy day and there had to be 50 straw wrappers on the ground among other debris. One other pet peeve when serving a dish that has shrimp with tails (especially a salad) please provide a side plate to put the tails on.
Brunch was good but expensive. Our server was great, very friendly!
Watered down cocktail had whisky flavor. Wait person apologized for long time bringing (really awful) bread, because "it just came out of the freezer and had to defrost". "Pan seared" asparagus was steamed mush. Overall, it was underwhelming, bland American chain restaurant fare.
We both had two different breakfast entrees and they were both delicious! Love this restaurant.
I visit this establishment often. On this particular occasion our waitress was awful. NEVER came by to check on us, see if we needed anything. I finally went and asked for a manager. The manager NEVER came to see what I wanted.
On my first visit I found the decor pleasant, but a little loud for my taste. The wait-staff was attentive and friendly. The food was good, the prices very reasonable. I'm pretty sure I'll be back there again when I'm in the Fox Chapel area.
PS I don't understand how you want your first question answered. It seems to require a simple yes/no, but you provide a sliding scale question above the box for the review. This is unclear to me.
The table was ready, no waiting! A very friendly and professional server who kept coffee cups filled, dishes cleared and all without any fuss...much appreciated! The brunch was very nice, especially enjoyed the salmon entree. Overall, an enjoyable experience. Many thanks!
One of the better fish sandwiches...really enjoyed it.
We asked for a booth and we got a very small booth with little to no room on the table and it was next to extremely noisy bar area. So, lesson learned to ask for a normal size booth and have it away from the bar moving forward.
Excellent food and service. Waitress was very attentive to our needs. Restaurant itself is loud.
We eat at walnut grill at least twice a month and most of the time it’s very good, but tonight was a disaster.
My dinner, chicken dish was burned, left in the pan until it was black on one side. Dana our waitress was to say the least not there and when she was it was with a poor attitude. My chicken was replaced and was perfect the second time, but this took another half an hour to arrive. Our party was four people, three of which had finished their dinners and had to wait for mine to appear.
Getting a check and then waiting for the credit cards to come back was another 15 minutes.
I think 2 hours in a fast casual restaurant is a bit too long.
As I said we eat their often and will return.
Did not like the front room. Very noisy with a big party that was in the room. Also there was a mix up with our appetizer. But we do like this restaurant. Anthony, the server was fantastic.
Wonderful service, delicious food, and prompt attention to table needs. Love patronizing this venue and appreciate their support of community groups like Stage Right
We love the service and the food, but it was difficult having conversation due to the noise level and the high energy music. However, the reason could be that we were there during happy hour. The pricing was very reasonable, and the server was very friendly. We'll go back for sure.
One of us had the chili, another one had the cod sandwich and the other had the walnut salad. Everything was very good. Will be going back!
Made reservations from vehicle upon arrival, seen within 10 minutes.
Red wine was chilled and full on sediment on the bottom of the glass. The server did nothing to remedy. The meal was good, but not hot.
We had a group of 9, everyone was very pleased with the food. The orange roughy was wonderful (a lenten special) and my husband said the New York strip was excellent. Apps were also very good! Stuffed banana peppers were huge, pretzel bites, zucchini all very good! We will definitely go back, as the service, atmosphere and food were excellent! Drink specials on the weekend were a bonus.
We always enjoy our visit to the Walnut Grill! The service is on point! The food is delicious! If ever there’s a problem, it’s fixed immediately!
As always, going to the Walnut Grill was well worth it! Our server was awesome and told us about the specials and answered all of our questions. The food was delicious!
Food and service was excellent as usual. The menu is creative and typically has new items/chef specials so there is a lot of variety. The staff is friendly.
My husband and I had a wonderful meal. It was a nice evening out. Our service was fantastic to go along with the great food.
Food was well presented, well portioned, and tasty. Service was outstanding! Cathy.8
We both had the walnut salad which was delicious with the cranberries and walnuts. We will of course be going back.
Variety of selections on the menu. A bit pricey. Lunch for 4 people was $70 and there were no alcoholic beverages nor desserts. Friendly and efficient service. Distinctive menu items you won't find elsewhere.
This was for New Years Eve, and it was decorated and the employees were upbeat and everything. The food was awesome, everybody tried each others and our waiter was the best.
Stopped by for quick dinner before heading to First Night. Ordered from their New Year's menu, and the lamb was fantastic! Will go again!
We eat there every week and this is the first BAD meal we have ever had. Two of the four of us had to send back our dinners and my wife’s was so bad she could hardly eat it.
Most of the meal was good but the kiddie filet was rare when we ordered medium. Sent it back - it came out like shoe leather. The chef was clearly sending a message but come on, why do you do that to a child's order? Waiter was gracious and took it off the bill but my daughter was sad she had a terrible dinner. We won't go back.
The food was great and Lauren, our server, was the BEST!!! She was very pleasant and helpful - quite refreshing! I really enjoy coming to this place!!!
Took the in-laws for brunch, and everyone enjoyed the meal.
Need more sustainable fish rather than Atlantic cod and Atlantic salmon . Had to settle for the flatbread because of this. (For lunch)
Hair in food.
Good food good service.
