Food was good, reasonable, and some different items.
We have dined at the Ellisville Walnut Grill a few times with very results. First time trying the Chesterfield location. It wasn’t busy. We’re seated immediately. It took time for the waiter to bring our drinks. He kept forgetting to bring extras that I requested. The blueberry salad tasted good but their was something in it that was hard to chew. The salmon dish was cooked nicely but had way too much marmalade on it. My wife and I didn’t have a good feeling about the service team or the general operation of the restaurant. We don’t plan to go back to that location.
Excellent food, fairly loud, was hard to hold a conversation due to noise and the wait staff seemed very overwhelmed and kitchen was backed up.
Great menu options and excellent service
Food was excellent. The Blackened Salmon BLT was amazing. Service was great. Was there with friends , we had not seen each other in a while so spent lot of time talking. Our Server was attentive and timely with refills and checking on us.
Food was ok (grouper & burger). Beer was cold. Asked for grapefruit vodka and she took my order- 15 minutes later came back and said we don’t have that but have another brand so ok’d. She came back 15 minutes later and said we don’t have that either so by that time everyone else had finished their drinks so it was pointless. Disappointing. Service was slow.
Brussel sprout appetizer was outstanding as was house Pinot Grigio
Max was our waiter and he was great!! The pulled pork nachos were delicious as was the French onion soup.
We will definitely return.
This was our first visit to Walnut Grill -- and we will be returning for sure. The service was good and efficient. The food was very tasty. The happy hour specials are wide-ranging. And merely by coincidence, Wednesday was half-priced bottles of wine. Wonderful!!!
Service was very good. My only complaint was the shrimp tacos were a bit skimpy Salad was good but too much dressing. I generally order with dressing on the side. Everything else was good.
Nice place. We enjoyed it and everyone there was so nice.
Food good, service okay.
Our waiter Sam was the best! He was very patient and helpful.
I will definitely ask for him again
All of the food was very sweet -- as in sugary and I could smell the sweetness from the next table over's chicken and waffles.
The pulled pork nachos were also unnaturally sweet that one of my guests had.
I had the "Porky Philadelphia" it was pretty good. The sauce was hot, not scorching hot, but you'd be reminded "oh this is spicy".
The chicken and sausage gumbo was not good however. It tasted like it had been reduced too much.
I don't think I'd recommend this for a date night, but certainly for a family night out.
The other patrons appeared to enjoy their meal, so I think I'm the minority by not liking how sweet things were.
Regardless of my thoughts,I'd recommend giving it a try. I'll probably return, because it does seem like there is a lot of potential in the menu.
Party of three, we left for less than $50.
We came here for Father’s Day. It took over an hour for one of our 3 salads to arrive. We reminded them of the other 2 and the appetizers. 10-15 minutes later 1 salad and the appetizer arrives. 10 minutes later after another reminder, the final salad arrives. The 6 oz filet was not a 6 oz filet. It was closer to the little 4 oz ones from the grocery store. Everything was cooked really well and was very tasty, but getting it on the table was very time consuming. I feel as if the staff were pretty inexperienced and disorganized, but not lazy. I feel as if they were trying but overwhelmed. Hopefully they will become more experienced so that the service matches the food.
The food was tasty, a little wait for the food but it was worth it.
Seared tuna came out brown. Told manager less than 3 minutes had new app with perfect looking tuna
They forgot part of our order and when they finally brought it was way overdone.
Just Meh. We had a newer waitress, and she was helpful but got drinks order wonky. Food felt over fried and spin dip there was a watery pool of oil. Not overly wowed. Won’t be back.
Always go to chesterfield. Ofallon is closer but better service and happy hour menu portions are much better in chesterfield.
Love Celia!!! She’s SO sweet & the best waitress we’ve had.
Great food, drinks and the server was excellent.
Food was mediocre, at best. Service was slow....
One of our favorite restaurants. I always order the cedar plank glazed salmon. We eat frequently at this restaurant. So, we arrive Saturday only to find out that the cedar plank salmon has been taken off the menu and only the Walnut salmon is available. This was very disappointing and will make this a least favorite restaurant from now on.
Sweet potato fries were amazing. Broccoli was over salted. Soft shell crab sandwich- so so. It was a fair meal, just not up to their normal standards. Still a favorite in the valley
Service and staff were all outstanding. Food was good - not fabulous. Nice atmosphere.
I had one of my favorite dinners....Chicken Spidini and I loved it ! It was the best i have ever had!
Food was just terrible. Ordered the Pittsburgh porker and came out as just full of strips of grisly fat. I even asked the waitress ahead of time so I could choose something else if it was like that or just the shredded meat. I’m guessing that was enough to upset the cooks to load up my sandwich with what I didn’t want. Waitress was nice and bourbon selection was great. However I won’t return because the meal was so bad.
I did not give Walnut Grill a 5 star rating, which I would have....but although the food was delicious, my waitress didn't follow through with my request to make sure I didn't receive some foods/seasonings that I need to avoid due to reactions...one of which is gluten.
I did not eat all of my steak, but planned to eat it for lunch today. I could see in the sunlight that there were tiny pieces of onions on it. I had requested salt, pepper and garlic only on the steak, but there was much more than that on it. It was hard to see when the steak was hot and we were in the restaurant lighting.
Anyway, it was a wonderful meal, and I'm a little sick today, but it will pass in the next day or two. So many people have food allergies now-a-days. It is important that restaurants train their staff (cooks, servers, waiters and waitresses) in this area and make them knowlegeable about the importance of communicating with each other and making sure the customer is taken care of properly. Next time, I will deal with the manager only.
Mothers Day lunch was exceptional value and so much food. Fantastic
Happy hour 3-7 every day. Enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip - not overwhelmed with cheese and delicious corn tortilla chips. The pot sticker were so yummy, we ordered another along with the boneless sticky chili wings.
The food was great as always! Alyssa did a great job as our waitress! The place was very busy but the food came out in a timely manner. We go there often.
This was a monthly luncheon with friends. We like to eat lunch and visit. Our waitress was very good and never rushed us. Two of the gals had not eaten here before and they really liked the tone, the food and the kindness of the waitress. Great experience!!
We typically have not had the best service at Walnut Grill but we thought we would give it another try. Someone needs to explain to me how we could have sat at our table for 15 minutes without our server approaching. It was busy so we told the hostess of our situation and to see if she could see who had our table. Still nothing. Needless to say at the 20 minute mark we got up and left. We won’t be back anytime soon.
The restaurant was crowded....definitely not following any COVID guidelines. You would have thought it was 2019. Additionally, we ordered appetizers- which came out quick. Then we waited....suddenly our entrees and salads arrived at the same time. Didn’t see the waitress until halfway through the meal. I ordered another glass of wine, which didn’t arrive until the meal was over. Not sure why - no apologies for slow service either. Pretty disappointing.
We had a wonder server, named Carrie! Food was good, good value, clean restaurant. We will be back. Thank you!
The breakfast burrito was not good. Too much fatty pieces of bacon, which were soggy and gross.
Good was good, service was terrible. Had to keep asking for drink refills. At the price they are asking they should at least keep your glass filled!
Went there for lunch. Loved the chicken piccata!
Went for a birthday dinner, the food was great and the service was wonderful.
We tried out the new Chesterfield location because I could redeem some Open Table points. The server was sweet but she could not apply our reward. After leaving (and paying the full bill), I called the number on the certificate and the operator explained that the server was entering the certificate wrong-she kept putting in the value of the full meal, rather than the value of the certificate. The way the rewards work, it was only good for that reservation so the reward is lost. The meal was good but considering what we ended up paying, was more expensive than it should have been. Overall, a frustrating end to our evening. Summary: good food but training of the service staff needs to improve.
