Wally's Desert Turtle Ratings and Reviews
This was probably the most interesting dining experience, not necessarily in a good way. The service was odd, I felt like we had to coach the staff to serve us. We were seated and left for quite some time. No menu or wine list nothing. I asked for a wine menu then was left again for what seems like an eternity. Again the same to order. The bread and water guys were on their game, they were awesome. I don’t think we will be back.
Food was good but not good enough to bring me back.
We've been looking for a restaurant in the desert that was similar to ones we've liked in San Francisco. This is it. Great food, service, and ambiance. I had the liver which was done beautifully. My wife had the gnocchi which was also excellent. As a starter we had the classic escargot -- garlic and butter and very good.
Jason the bartender took good care of us before dinner. The music in the bar was live with a woodwind player on clarinet and flute.
Needless to say, we are going back!
It was a Valentine’s dinner with my wife and adult daughters. Seated on time based on our Open Table reservation. There was a 3 course holiday menu, but options galore to pick from. Drinks were good, servers were excellent. The food was outstanding. I had Dover Sole, excellent. Had a wonderful evening. My wife uses a 2alker and the staff said to tell them next time and they would seat us on the main level and show us the way to get there. Will go again.
Wallys is a treasure! The food is consistently good, the service is exceptional, and the music is wonderful! Their early dinner served Sunday through Thursday from 5:30-6:30 is incredible! We love Wallys and we always make a point to come for the early dinner!
Our initial visit to Wally's Desert Turtle was very pleasant. The food was excellent. We tried Chilean sea bass and a veal chop special in maple glaze. Service was attentive despite a near full restaurant. Wally's is not inexpensive, but it is consistent with most higher end restaurants in the Desert cities. It is especially suitable for special occasions. Highly recommended.
I have wanted to go there for years and finally found the time and got the family together for dinner. Good gluten free options. Very friendly wait staff. However, it would be impossible to jam one more table on the floor. Very tight. As a result the noise level rose to the point that when all the tables were occupied it was all but impossible to hold a conversation.
Make your reservations earlier in the evening or much later in the evening to try and avoid the noise.
Terrific dining experience. Pleasant reception from staff, expert and un-rushed service from JB, "just right" mood music from the woodwind artist. We were in Palm Springs just for the week and are very pleased we chose Wally's Desert Turtle for our last night in town.
This restaurant was great on every level. It is beautiful, the service was flawless. Employees were friendly but not pesky. The food impeccable. We had mushroom soup, shrimp salad, sole and veal chop. All were perfect. The best thing we ate, however, was the fabulous bananas foster soufflé. Every bite was heaven. We will definitely return.
We were so pleased, the evening could not have been any better. The service was exceptional and the meal was delicious. I was so happy to see Lake Superior White Fish on the menu, it’s one of my favorites and I seldom have the opportunity to enjoy. It is pricey but we went for our anniversary and treated ourselves to a special evening. Thanks to the staff and chef for a wonderful experience.
Open Table reservation clearly stated we were celebrating our 15th Wedding Anniversary. The former Concierge for the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage did call the restaurant and also notified them it was our 15th Wedding Anniversary since she knows the owners. We arrived in time and was seated at a nice table. The service was good and the food was excellent (Dover Sole)and (Sea Bass). During our entire dinner experience no one from the restaurant ever acknowledged our Anniversary. Very disappointing since this is a higher end and priced restaurant and I would think they would take notice of special occasions of their clients especially when notified on open Table and a personal phone call . This was the first time we have been to this restaurant. I am not excited to return any time soon but would because of the food quality and dining experience. If you have a special occasion go somewhere else. We often frequent Roy's and always without fail get recognized for Birthday Celebrations as well as Anniversaries. They even place a nice plaque on the "reserved table" with your information proudly displayed of what you are celebrating and the Manager touches the tables and makes it a point to visit their guests with a warm welcome and a congratulations of your celebration.
I had visited on Wally's several occasions when I was a resident in Indian Wells. The experience was always "top drawer". It have been several years since my last visit. I can only say that, it possible this restaurant has improved. The food, the drinks, the ambiance , and the staff are simply outstanding. There is no pressure to order, but attentive wait staff constantly stop by to insure needs are being met. The rack of lamb and the sea bass were expertly prepared and artfully presented.
A dinner at Wally's is expensive but, well worth it. Great place for occasions where you want to impress.
Three recommendations to assure fine dining:
1 The bar opens into the dining area where there is live music. You may want to request a table away from this area for quiet conversion.
2. While there ample free valet parking, getting into the parking area can be a challenge, particularly in the dark. You may require a trip around the block to find the entrance.
3. By all means reserve early particularly during the "Season" and on weekends.
