Pricing puts this fine restaurant in the "splurge" category and, honestly, it's a throwback to the good old days of slow, fine dining. There's no sharing tapas around this table! The entrees are well prepared and everything is al a carte. If you order wine, expect to spend about $100 per guest. Outstanding service is evident as waiters hover nearby, clearing expertly and keeping your glasses filled.
We had an amazing time. The food was amazing, the cocktails and wine were perfect, and the desserts were to die for. Thank you!
Always amazing. Brought new guests and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
With special girlfriends from High School on a reunion
Always love an evening at Wally’s
Both meals were exceptional. The desserts were also great. They gave us a free soufflé for some reason. The serving team was very attentive and friendly. The tables are spaced far enough away that you can dine in privacy. The restaurant although very full was quiet.
My only complaint is that the prices were a bit too steep. I know you pay for what you get, but they need to keep their prices down.
We always go to Wally's when we are visiting from the UK as the quality of everything is excellent. The Dover Sole is my favourite....
Everything the group of us four had was excellent!
great food, music, friendly staff, would diffently go back......
We love to dine at Wally’s every time we visit the desert. The glamorous ambiance is appreciated and expected for the price of a fine dining experience. It was disappointing to see that men are allowed to wear baseball hats during dinner, however. A restaurant of Wally’s level should not allow that attire. Hope it doesn’t continue.
Our experience at Wally's couldn't have been better. It was so personally pleasing to me that it brought a tear to my eyes remembering the Velvet Turtle in Los Angeled back in the day. This experience was even better!! We were treat like royality from the moment we entered and was greeted by a delightful young woman (sorry, didn't get her name, but she was lovely, tall and blond). The staff was on point! Especially James, our waiter "extraordinnaire". John Bolivar provided the entertainment and was perfect as well. The food was well presentef and amazing. Overall, a fabulous experience and plan to return.
Old world charm, personalized, warm service, lovely interesting menu!! Duck was fabulous, perfectly cooked, juicy; calf's liver very tasty; decent French onion soup still needed more cheese than I had even requested; steaks good quality & cooked as requested, yay!
Great restaurant for ambiance and classic service. Overall excellent. A little expensive for dinner. We have also done the pre-fix menu served in the bar and this is excellent and a great value. If you want to experience the same food and ambiance I recommend the pre-fix menu- must specify with reservation.
Watch your bill. Ours had an additional entree added. But we didn’t get charged corkage for the wine we brought even though we brought it to our waiters attention.
The service was excellent. The food was, as always, fantastic. We were seated next to live plants-it was like eating in a garden. I’ve never had a bad experience here.
First visit but definitely not the last; food was great and service outstanding
Had a marvelous meal. The atmosphere was excellent and our waiters were great.
We think Wally's is a special place for special occasions. The food is very good and the many servers are great fun but don't get in the way. Among the several serving our table, we had a very energetic young lady named Kirsten I think, who was working very hard to be one step ahead of everyone else...and was successful. We celebrate life once a year at Wally's when we visit the desert during tennis week.
Second time here.disappointing. Oysters good. Carpaccio good. Sent veal chop back, didn’t like maple glaze. They sent back small tough chop.knife wouldn’t cut it. Brussels sprouts not cooked. Mushroom “tart” tasteless. I had gnocchi, too much sauce with asparagus sticking out, not like before. Service was good, especially Kirsten. They said we were at Wally’s table. It was where servers congregated and put menus there. Wondering if chef was at tennis venue! Won’t be back, not for that money.
We visit Wally’s 2-3 times while we are in the desert for “the season”. It rarely disappoints. On this particular occasion the sax, flute musician in the bar was on top of his game. Very relaxing and romantic music. My husband ordered the special of the evening...sea bass. He was not that empresses with it. I had the pan fried White superior fish. It was delicious. We love this main stay in the desert and will return time and time again.
Lovely restaurant. We appreciated the wonderful service. We especially liked the eggplant appetizer, the salad and the yummy soufflé. Can’t wait to return.
Wally's is consistently special from the food preparation to presentation to service. This is the best restaurant in the valley for any occasion. The 3 course dinner is a bargain. The entrees are not on a "naked" plate. Sides not really necessary. Desserts are a must.
Service was not there. We had lunch Friday at the fashion show also and that service was even worse They wanted to rush ourdinner and get us out as for our lunch we waited and waited
As for the food very pedestrian . Food was pre-prepared chicken came out in 10 minutes It was good but not worth $35 My husband Dover sole was great with no sauce.
The Caesar salad at lunch was very ordinary but the beet salad was good I feel menu needs to be worked on with healthier choices and updated
As always the best service and food in the Desert
We were very happy with our first dining experience at Wally’s Desert Turtle. The food was exceptional from appetizer to dessert. Although it was quite busy, the service never faltered.
Outstanding food and outstanding service. One of the very best restaurants in the Palm Springs area. The decor is a little 70s and so is the crowd. But you won’t do better for food and service.
once again had the Dover Sole... Outstanding! Also, you can't miss the Gran Marnier souffle` for dessert.
The ambiance was very pleasant. Excellent service and food added to a very enjoyable evening.
Old fashioned elegant dining. Attention to detail superb. Food outstanding and service impeccable. Highly recommended for special occasion or friends get-together.
We started to go to Wally’s 25 Years ago. Outstanding food and wonderful ambience.
Wally's was recommended to us by a friend. It went above and beyond. A very nice place for old world charm, great ambiance and delicious food!
Superb in every way.....has been excellent for nearly forty years. The subtle updates only make it better.
When I'm in the desert I look forward to dining at Wally's. Both my wife and I ordered the same N.Y. Steak because it was advertised having black truffle spinach and we both love truffle. They gave me a steak and I had a difficult time cutting into it. The edges of the steak were easier but when it came to the center of the meat it was crazy. I asked the waiter to try and he could not either and reported to the chef. They offered me to cook another steak and I declined as I did fill up on their delicious bread and I was really disappointed in the steak. My wife's cut of meat was ok. At that point they offered to buy us dessert which they did. I will still go back because I enjoy so many other things about Wally's but I believe this was mishandled. They should have taken the steak off my bill as it was obviously a bad cut of meat and they had no right to charge me for it. I still gave a gernerous tip but the evening left a bad taste in my mouth.
Wally’s Desert Turtle was a trip to 1972 dining. Food is good and simple traditional style. The music is 60’s dining music.
Absolutely spectacular experience. Hosted a business dinner for 60 and the compliments went on for days. Food, service, ambiance and execution all flawless. Enjoyed it so much I returned for a personal dinner a few days later. Thank you to Michael, Stephen and all of the staff for a truly unforgettable experience. I’ll be back.
I have been driving by Wally's Desert Turtle since I was a child in the backseat the family car. Always wanting to visit but family moves, circumstances and life events didn't come together until this visit. Entering the rather non-descript building you walk down a mirrored hallway into a beautiful and modern dining area. The bar is to the right and multi-tiered seating to the left and back. Yes, there are private rooms. The service was impeccable and the dinner choices amazing. Everything was to perfection and the ambiance matched. It is a pricey treat but for those special dinners or simply being nice to yourself, this is one of the A-list choices. It has history, a longevity that surpasses the chain establishments, and the personal touch of the owner coming by to introduce himself and validate the quality of the experience really shows the personal touch. My Veal Chop was wonderfully prepared; cooked as ordered with a yummy sweet glaze (don't forget to order your dessert soufflé as you place your dinner order). Wines by the glass or bottle and elegantly quiet, even with a full dining area. Perfectly done for our visit and a bucket list item completed. We'll be back the next time we are in town. Thank you.
The service was professional, attentive and personable. The food was exceptional. The Hercules fillet mignon was incredible. Every accompanying vegetable on the plate was scrumptious and noteworthy. The grilled salmon was the best we've ever had. Again, the accompanying vegetables and rock shrimp were so tender and deliscious. We dine out frequently and this was a very special experience. We highly recommend Wally's Desert Turtle!
This restaurant was extraordinary in every way. The atmosphere was elegant without being overbearing or pretentious and the service was efficient, and well timed. The food was imaginatively prepared and beautifully presented. It is clear that a lot of thought, training and preparation went into each aspect of this restaurant and it was apparent at every step of our dining experience from the cocktails before dinner to the dessert.
This was our first time dining at Wally’s.
The restaurant is beautiful, and the food was Fabulous.
We would highly recommend and will definitely be back!
Wonderful. Simply wonderful. The rack of lamb and the soufflés were awesome.
