If you want an old school supper club - this is it. The menu is what you would expect for that. They had a veal chop that I was excited about. However, did not like the sweet sauce on it. Didn't complement it and certainly didn't play on the wonderful flavor of the chop. Also the wine list showed our bottle of Chateau Montelena Cab to be $95 and we were charged $110.
Wasn't a bad experience - just not the Wow we thought we were in for.
James and his team were very attentive without being intrusive, the food was exceptional (onion and mushroom soup, veal chop and filet, with soufflé for dessert). Very special night for our anniversary.
Very nice and relaxing the food and service are great. Souffles are wonderful
My husband and I went to Wally’s with my sister and brother in law. The food was delicious. We enjoyed our meals tremendously. The wine selection was awesome. They had Jarvis Chardonnay which is hard to find and one of our favorites.
The atomsphere was great and the service was impeccable!
We can’t wait to go back next time we are in Rancho Mirage!
It had been a long while since we were there and we were not disappointed.
The waiters were prompt and extremely polite. The food was served hot (what a pleasant surprise in this day and age) and exquisite flavors. The foie Gras was a warm pate and outstanding! The Grand Mariner soufflé capped the evening.
Amazing food, great service and wonderful ambiance!
While the wait staff service and food was very good, our visit was negatively impacted by the manager/maitre’d’s arrogant unpleasant conduct. He cane to our table to question my choice of a bottle of wine and asked if I had noted it was a 2005 vintage. I had. He told me they no longer stocked that wine because of cork taint. (Why is their wine list out of date?) I selected another wine which was fine.
However unless I had closely checked my bill, I was being charged for both bottles of wine having only had one which I pointed out to my waiter who seemed genuinely apologetic and had it corrected. On way out, manager/maitre’d commented that it was good I had caught the error. Not said in any kind of apology and with almost more of a smirk - like you caught us.
Wonderful Easter brunch! Very special!
Easter Brunch. Everything was below par. Will not go back for Easter again
A great meal. Great service by the team and a fantastic booth.
One of the best veal chops I have ever had. Great venue, don't miss this restaurant.
As always, great service, elegant atmosphere, and every dish was delicious. The soufflé is a must. Wouldn’t think of missing Wally’s when we are in the desert.
Without a doubt the best food, service and ambiance in the Palm Desert area
I normally order fish and opted for the horseradish crusted filet mignon. It was out of this world and cooked to perfection!
There is a reason this place has been around so long. The food is super, the interior a trip into the past, yet all in great shape. We had another lovely dinner at Wally's with out of town friends. They were very impressed with the service, atmosphere and the food. Not the cheapest, by any stretch. But worth it for that special occasion. Make sure you have a soufflé. Wally's does provide an elegant evening. And it has table cloths, carpeting and soft furnishings so you can talk! So many restaurants are LOUD, but at Wally's people can enjoy their friends not the noise of the entire place. Enjoy a wonderful evening out, treat yourself.
Excellent service and very good food.
Excellent in every way -as always. The best restaurant in the desert! Chef Pascal is fabulous.
We always enjoy dining at Wally's. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming. The food is excellent and the service is very accommodating.
Pricing puts this fine restaurant in the "splurge" category and, honestly, it's a throwback to the good old days of slow, fine dining. There's no sharing tapas around this table! The entrees are well prepared and everything is al a carte. If you order wine, expect to spend about $100 per guest. Outstanding service is evident as waiters hover nearby, clearing expertly and keeping your glasses filled.
We had an amazing time. The food was amazing, the cocktails and wine were perfect, and the desserts were to die for. Thank you!
Always amazing. Brought new guests and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
With special girlfriends from High School on a reunion
Always love an evening at Wally’s
Both meals were exceptional. The desserts were also great. They gave us a free soufflé for some reason. The serving team was very attentive and friendly. The tables are spaced far enough away that you can dine in privacy. The restaurant although very full was quiet.
My only complaint is that the prices were a bit too steep. I know you pay for what you get, but they need to keep their prices down.
We always go to Wally's when we are visiting from the UK as the quality of everything is excellent. The Dover Sole is my favourite....
Everything the group of us four had was excellent!
great food, music, friendly staff, would diffently go back......
We love to dine at Wally’s every time we visit the desert. The glamorous ambiance is appreciated and expected for the price of a fine dining experience. It was disappointing to see that men are allowed to wear baseball hats during dinner, however. A restaurant of Wally’s level should not allow that attire. Hope it doesn’t continue.
Our experience at Wally's couldn't have been better. It was so personally pleasing to me that it brought a tear to my eyes remembering the Velvet Turtle in Los Angeled back in the day. This experience was even better!! We were treat like royality from the moment we entered and was greeted by a delightful young woman (sorry, didn't get her name, but she was lovely, tall and blond). The staff was on point! Especially James, our waiter "extraordinnaire". John Bolivar provided the entertainment and was perfect as well. The food was well presentef and amazing. Overall, a fabulous experience and plan to return.
Old world charm, personalized, warm service, lovely interesting menu!! Duck was fabulous, perfectly cooked, juicy; calf's liver very tasty; decent French onion soup still needed more cheese than I had even requested; steaks good quality & cooked as requested, yay!
Great restaurant for ambiance and classic service. Overall excellent. A little expensive for dinner. We have also done the pre-fix menu served in the bar and this is excellent and a great value. If you want to experience the same food and ambiance I recommend the pre-fix menu- must specify with reservation.
Watch your bill. Ours had an additional entree added. But we didn’t get charged corkage for the wine we brought even though we brought it to our waiters attention.
The service was excellent. The food was, as always, fantastic. We were seated next to live plants-it was like eating in a garden. I’ve never had a bad experience here.
First visit but definitely not the last; food was great and service outstanding
Had a marvelous meal. The atmosphere was excellent and our waiters were great.
We think Wally's is a special place for special occasions. The food is very good and the many servers are great fun but don't get in the way. Among the several serving our table, we had a very energetic young lady named Kirsten I think, who was working very hard to be one step ahead of everyone else...and was successful. We celebrate life once a year at Wally's when we visit the desert during tennis week.
Second time here.disappointing. Oysters good. Carpaccio good. Sent veal chop back, didn’t like maple glaze. They sent back small tough chop.knife wouldn’t cut it. Brussels sprouts not cooked. Mushroom “tart” tasteless. I had gnocchi, too much sauce with asparagus sticking out, not like before. Service was good, especially Kirsten. They said we were at Wally’s table. It was where servers congregated and put menus there. Wondering if chef was at tennis venue! Won’t be back, not for that money.
We visit Wally’s 2-3 times while we are in the desert for “the season”. It rarely disappoints. On this particular occasion the sax, flute musician in the bar was on top of his game. Very relaxing and romantic music. My husband ordered the special of the evening...sea bass. He was not that empresses with it. I had the pan fried White superior fish. It was delicious. We love this main stay in the desert and will return time and time again.
Lovely restaurant. We appreciated the wonderful service. We especially liked the eggplant appetizer, the salad and the yummy soufflé. Can’t wait to return.
