I saw that your staff work very well with each other. It was a pleasure to see.
Even though one of the members didn’t enjoy there dinner your staff addressed the issue and agreed that it was not cooked properly and took it off the bill.
Wally's is still a place where guests can rely on professional service from a knowledgeable staff who pride themselves in doing great work. Simply stated, it's a classic.
Wally's is a throwback to a lovely restaurant with lots of charm and atmosphere. It is nice to see most of the patrons dressed up. We like and appreciate the formality of days gone by.
The service was off, however, this last visit. It seems that two different waiters were assigned to our table and we were ignored by both of them for the most part and then both would show up asking for our orders within a few minutes of one another. This included both our drink orders and food orders.
I ordered from the Prix Fixe menu and had the Jidori chicken. Sorry to say that it was dry and tough and oversalted. I would have sent it back had anyone come to the table to ask how things were. But, no one showed up until it was time to clear the table. The salad, side vegetables and dessert were great, however. My husband had the Dover Sole which was excellent, as usual.
We'll go back and hope that things are better.
Different servers. No one seemed to know what was going on. Mixed up entrees. No steak knives offered. New York steak was a tough cut. Super chewy. Caesar salad was bland. Birthday was never acknowledged the birthday we were celebrating. We were a party of four. Both couples recently bought homes in the area & wanted to try Wally’s. Won’t be returning. The best part of the experience was the musician & the sommelier. They were great..
Very lovley restaurant. The only reason I gave them four stars is because the menu online is completely different from the one you receive at the table. I had my heart set on braised short ribs from the on line menu and they were no where to be found on the actual menu. There was really nothing that I liked on the restaurant menu. Almost everything had mushrooms in or on it. YUCK! I ended up getting gnocchi, but who wants to go to a nice restaurant and eat gnocchi. Everyone else in my party loved their meals ( I am picky). Wine list was very nice and reasonably priced. The service we received deserves 10 stars. The waitstaff team was wonderful!
Very classic Palm Springs Joint. Old school white jacket service with fantastic food. The Dover Sole and the Souffles are the best!
Fabulous, in every way! Great service. Great food. Great atmosphere!
Fabulous food, atmosphere & workers! Cool lights. Kind of fancy. But my duck was not medium rare & pretty cold. Steak was great, though, as was Caesar salad & liver was fantastic!
As usual, the food and service was outstanding, its why we continue to return.
Great Dinner! Great service! Can’t wait to come back next time we are in town:-)
I found that the menu choices were not to my liking and I had trouble finding something that I liked. Some of the food combinations were strange and I had to ask for clarification, and the waiter was a bit dismissive. I thought for the money, it was over rated and there are many other fine dining locations in the desert that have better offerings. The service was fair and the restaurant was nearly empty. The wait staff did not care to engage with any explanations of the menu choices. I did have the Chilean Sea Bass which was good, but I have had thicker and better for the cost. Presentation of the entree' was quite nice. My husband had the onion soup which was very good, and had a filet. He asked for medium rare and it looked quite well from my perspective, no juices flowing when he cut into it . It was topped with a breaded patty of horseradish , again which was very strange. He is not a complainer, so he just ate, it as we were celebrating his birthday. They did bring him a Happy Birthday dessert which was nice, but very petite in portion. This was my second time to Wally's. A friend had treated me for my birthday, 2 weeks before. If we had not had a gift card from my son, I would not have returned. Wally's has lovely ambiance, but I found it to be a bit on the snooty side. After our meal, my husband concurred that he would have had a better meal at Arnold Palmers.
Once again, we had a terrific meal at Wally's Desert Turtle! My husband's filet was perfection as was my duck! The Cesar salad was amazing and the Grand Marnier Souffle was incredible. The service was over-the-top and we love our server JB! Can't wait for our next visit!
What a gem!! It was our first time here and definitely won’t be our last. Immediately when we walked in the restaurant ambience took us back in time totally old school feeling. Had a great fun bar with musician playing light saxophone. The service and food were spectacular. I had the Dover sole which it their specialty where my husband had the veal chop which melted away and was cooked to perfection. Then there dessert....oh my the choice of souffles was bar none. We ordered Banana Foster and Cherry Jubilee souffles and we’re so delicious.
We cannot wait to come back
I think Wally’s suffers from a perception of being too stuffy, perhaps as a result of the jacket requirement, etc from years ago. But we love everything about the restaurant. It’s elegance, the service, the ability to converse even on Friday night, and mostly the food. I had the duck, Mary the sole, both excellent and nicely presented. We visit every time we are in the desert and always feel very welcome.
Once again, this lovely restaurant with sophisticated ambiance did not disappoint. The service was impeccable and the food was wonderful. Our party enjoyed the duck breast, sea bass, whitefish, and the pork three ways. Each dish was a masterful creation. This is always the place to go for an outstanding dining experience.
Wally's Desert Turtle was a nice surprise. I was worried it was going to be over the top touristy, and cater just to the older crowd. Although the restaurant has the old country club feel, and did seem to cater to an older generation, the restaurant was lovely. The food was good, the service was wonderful, and a good time was had by all!
Treated very special for a special birthday
Wally's is our favorite fine dining restaurant in the desert. Their Dover Sole Amandine is outstanding. Also, you can't miss their Grand Marnier Souffle. You can split it and have plenty.
We eat here every year and have never been disappointed
Elegant restaurant, but relaxed at the same time. Wonderful food! We loved the musician - easy and melodic jazz, perfect for the dining experience!
Waiter was unpleasant and neglected our table
Expensive but absolutely delicious food and the service is fabulous! Would highly recommend!
It was a fantastic evening. Thank you to the staff of Wally’s.
It was a magical evening with great friends, conversation that we could hear, spectacular service. We’ll remember the event for years
Wally's is a step-back into a time of elegance and charm. The waiters are true professionals. It is always a pleasure to dine there.
What a wonderful evening for my wife and myself. Quiet booth in the back and a wonderful dinner. On a side note the gentleman who played the sax, flute and piano in the lounge brought a very warm feeling for the delightful dinner!
Excellent dining experience with great food, friendly and efficient serving, lovely ambiance, etc. Would recomment for special occasions, as well as, just a good night out place for dining.
Serving staff were attentive, personal and aimed to please. J.B served us and was skilled and friendly.
This is not just dining but a fine dining experience and but offered many 3 course $36 dollar options in the Sahara Lounge - bar area.
We didn’t know this but sat in the main lounge and my wife chose the 3 course option but they did serve it to us in the main lounge.
Their only concern was pleasing you.
Complimentary valet parking.
Our meals from main lounge were
-$60 for lamb
- $38 for 3 pork meal - Pork tenderloin, pulled pork, pork belly
- $36 for soup starter, (which we all had), salmon and included desert.
The other 2 had a chocolate lava cake, hot with cherries and bean vanilla ice cream and Profiteroles $12 each
Again food taste is exceptional and worth the cost.
We felt under dressed, one with golf attire with shorts and one long pants and wife better dressed than us but casual. But as B.J. said when we asked him we were acceptable and comfortable.
We will return.
Really nice environment, good food and generous wine portions. Special feeling about the place, high end feel.
Brought friends from out of town as it was a special occasion. Absolutely spectacular dinner, food & service.
I reserved a table for 3 in the lounge so we would be close to the live music. Table was great and we totally enjoyed the music - gave the musician a $20.00 tip. Food was wonderful. Rebecca immediately took our drink orders - was friendly. Then an older male came to discuss the menu - I am sorry I do not know/remember his name. I noticed the advertised $36 Three Course Dinner was not in the menu and when I commented on that, he brought another menu over. It was at this time we noticed a definite change in his demeanor. We all ordered the Three Course Dinner - one of us ordered the steak which is $10.00 more. We had other folks come by the table - one with rolls and water, one with our food, one named Chris who said he would look after us, but we did not see him again and Rebecca returned later.
The same waiter that took our orders came by and picked up the wine glasses without asking us if we would like wine. When my dinner companion called him back to order wine and told him we would like a bottle, he said, "Oh, I thought you would just want a glass". No one came by to pour our 2nd glasses, so my companion got up and did that. We had to ask for our bill and waited for someone to come by. When no one did, my companion got up and walked over to the till by the bar. There was also trouble using a debit card from Canada - could only use a credit card - this was discussed in what I would not call a friendly manner. We barely left a 15% tip!
We felt that because we did not order the $55.00 fish dish that was recommended, we were treated like 2nd class clients. We were the only table in the lounge besides a table with two people by the railing.
One of my companions previously worked in the restaurant business for many years, so was well aware of this phenomenon.
We will not be returning, but I assume this is OK with Wally's - as we would not be ordering the $55.00 entree...Wally's should take their ad out of the paper...
My wife and I had attended this restaurant when it first opened many years ago and although there has been some changes since, our dining experience was unchanged...it was Excellent in all respects. If I were to suggest anything, it would be to review the music played on their interior sound system.... it was not in sync with the restaurant's visual ambience.
Beautiful restaurant, great service, fashion show at lunch on Friday, yummy rolls, delicious salmon and Cobb salad
We were treated royally. The food is wonderfull! The ambience is perfect! Will plan to keep coming back here.
Great classic dinner, excellent service.
Always a delight
We went for a wine dinner that was scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. It wasn't until 6:20 that they gave us any wine while we waited for latecomers. Every other wine dinner we've been to in the desert, start us with a glass of bubbly or a glass of the first wine to be served, so we have something to drink while waiting for the first course to be served.
Additionally, considering this was not a well known winery, and most of their wines sell for $28 or less and most of their wines are under 90 points, we thought the dinner was quite pricey. $95 or $99 would have been more in line.
A great place for an intimate and delicious dinner. My partner had the New York steak which was prepared to perfection. I had the linguine with seafood...very yummy. It was my partner's birthday. The restaurant provided a delicious assortment of cakes and ice cream served on a place with his name inscribed in chocolate. Great touch!
