Wallace's Whiskey Room + Kitchen
ambition and innovation
have nurtured the cultural
heartbeat in East Liberty.
Industry's biggest names
—Carnegie, Heinz, Mellon—
moved into our valley along
the Allegheny River,
looking for a break from
the overcrowded city.
After settling in, these men
invested in the borough's
automobile, theater,
entertainment & nightlife scenes.
However, during this time
Prohibition Laws demanded
that the show go "underground,"
leading to innovative
secret drinking clubs
coined as speakeasy's.
Today, our neighborhood
is redefining itself infused
with dance, music
and neighborhood entertainment,
boutiques, unique dining and
re-emerging historic buildings.

Fun place for live music and a great meal!
The food is too expensive. It’s above-decent quality, but it’s not worth the prices they’re asking. Service was slow. The server put in the wrong order for my wife. I expected that they would’ve comped the entree or at least a drink. It’s not very pleasant to eat your meals separately. I’ve experienced more thoughtful service from other restaurants.
Upon arrival they stated they did not have a reservation in my name, I then showed the confirmation, my party was seated after going back and forth with the manager, it took forever for the waiter to come and take our order, everything we order the said they were out of except for wings. Very disappointing experience.
This is a great place to enjoy live music and great food. It's a bit out of the way if you don't reside in the East Liberty or Shadyside areas but always worth the trip.
Burger was great——————————————
Place is not overly busy and the service greatly improved from the last time . Had a Caesar salad with chicken which the meat was extremely moist and over all I enjoyed. The server appropriately kept checking in but at the same time give me my privacy. Overall good experience!
Stopped here for brunch and was able to get a table on the patio. Very comfortable. Food was delicious and we had ample portions. Waitress was attentive and helpful.
The music was loud, but great and we were seated in a quieter area so it was perfect.
What made the experience worth it overall was the live music, as my girlfriend and I went on a Thursday night. The service was super slow, the server didn't communicate or apologize for the extensive delays, and it literally cost us because he took 15 minutes to collect our special drink and bar food orders (ready at 6:50, happy hour ended at 7, guy didn't show up until 7:05). Was surprised by the lack of understanding and action on management's part with not helping us acquire the happy hour prices Food was decent overall, truffle fries were good, but all of their IPA beer selections were out (6+). Had plenty of decent whiskey options though, so that makes up for it.
Restaurant located in Hotel Indigo and nice atmosphere. Not busy for lunch but I'm sure much busier for breakfast and dinner with hotel quests. Disappointed in menu as it was not what I saw online. Current menu pretty basic and did not have the fried Brussels Sprouts or Wings that I was looking forward to. Ordered the shrimp tacos which were okay. Server very pleasant and attentive! Probably would not come back for lunch based on current menu though!
Although I made reservations we waited 5-10 mins to be seated. After we were seated we waited another 10 mins for the waitress to come over and introduce herself and bring us water. Then we had to wait 45 mins for our food. My husbands pulled pork was dry and over cooked and my crab cake was dry and room temp.
We were looking forward to trying this place based on the online menu, but were extremely disappointed. The waitress explained that the menu we saw was at least 6 months outdated, and the dishes we wanted were now unavailable. The place was not crowded, but the live music was turned up so high that we could not converse at all. The service and food were also subpar to say the least; in fact, the waitress discouraged our menu selection, explaining that four previous orders of that dish had been sent back in the past week. Will not return.
Food was mediocre at best. Description did not mention this restaurant is in a hotel off the lobby. It may be convenient for people staying in the hotel but I would never choose to eat there for any other reason. We were seated in the back room which felt like a cafeteria.
A reliable, comfortable place. Good food, reasonable prices. Just don't expect prompt or attentive service.
Often has very good live music.
Overall good but the restaurant is understaffed and service slow.
We were so surprised on how good the food was - a little twist on some classic food. We were there for part of live jazz music. Loud but nice.
Our server was nice but it was slow. It look almost 2 hours for everything.
We will go again!
Food was good. Service was ok
The music was outstanding. I went on a weekend. I'm going to go back on a Thursday.
Our waiter Joe Colombo was excellent. So excellent I had to ask his name to give a recommendation! He was very polite took care of our large party and very accommodating. Love it will definitely return. The live jazz band was very nice also. Great show
I had a great time here with friends and family for my birthday. We were a party of about 20. John, our waiter was Great! Everyone from my party loved him. He made everything run smoothly with food orders and drinks.
We came to see The Flow Band on 2/15/19 and have a light dinner. We were seated, given a glass of water and apparently forgotten. The dining area was not full, there were plenty of empty tables, one to the left, right and across from us. Also the dining area is not large, I would be surprised if 30-40 could dine at once. After we sat there for 45 minutes (ready to order), we went and stood in front of the bar to listen to the band (the only saving grace), then left. The dining area was not full, plenty of empty seats, but........... Get it together Wallace's Whiskey Room + Kitchen.
Understaffed, slow kitchen and indifferent service. So many better choices in Pittsburgh. We left after appetizers and had an excellent meal at Luca’s
The live music, vibe and food were great! The service of the waitress Vanessa was terrible. The waitress never asked if we wanted more drinks. She also never cleared our table until I asked her at the time we were receiving our checks.
Sigh. Our food took WAY too long, especially since we were one of only two or three occupied tables. We waited 40 minutes after ordering to see any food, and then the appetizer came out with our entrees (it was a pimento cheese spread, so no prep--just scoop it out). A side order never appeared at all. The food was all right, not spectacular. I did like the pimento cheese appetizer, and the server obligingly brought out the actual recipe when I inquired about the ingredients.
We chose the restaurant because of the high-backed booths (good for conversation), so we got what we came for, I guess.
This place makes a mean old fashioned. We enjoyed the ambiance & the cheesy fries. Will return.
Good food friendly service bright clean stylish
Here for jazz.
Service is very slow but food was good when it finally came. Never enough people to staff the restaurant
First time visit for brunch. The restaurant was empty-must have just cleared out as there were lots of tables that required cleanup. Server was friendly when she came to the table but after she delivered our food, she never checked back until we were completely finished with our meal. When she cleared our plates it took even more time to deliver our check. If they were busy I could be forgiving but she was rarely visible in the dining room. Thankfully our meals were very good but service was clearly lacking.

We had a reservation but the server who seated us couldn’t find it. We were seated in a deserted area and only managed to get drink in 50 minutes. Someone kept trying to bring food that wasn’t ours. We have up and left.

Our server “disappeared” more than multiple times during the evening and never came back once to ask how our meals were. It took her over 20 minutes to finally “find” me at the bar trying to pay my bill. I’ll never sit in her section again. I ordered the “Pittsburgher salad” that was missing olives and hard boiled egg. Never had my server come back before I finished to ask how the food was or to check to make sure the order was right.

I was celebrating my birthday with friends, thought whiskey and jazz would be a great way to do that.
First of all, the dining room (s) looked like Denny’s...wall of windows looking out on sidewalks, sunset beating in...no window coverings.
Bar area was a little more intimate, but impossible to have a conversation when live music is playing.
Music was very good though...
We ordered 2 appetizers and 4 entrees..
Drinks came and right after, a man came around with a box, asking for donations for the “guy who gets the bands here”...! Really?
Felt like we were being pan-handled...
Then our entrees and appetizers were served, at the same time...except for 1 entree...
It took 20 minutes for that entree to come out. Making a long story longer...we complained, they comped the meal...
Not going back

Great atmosphere. Food and drinks were very good. Happy hour specials are nice bargain. Waitress seemed to forget about us but was very attentive when we waved her down.

Service was a little slow. Seemed there were not enough servers for the size of the crowd. Disappointed that reserving tables was done as of July 1. Overall though I had a good time.
I enjoyed a delicious breakfast with my daugher. Our waitress was very polite & professional. I will return for dinner service soon. Thanks. G. Guckett
Great brunch! Super friendly staff.
Pet friendly outside patio.
The made to order omelette's are delicious!
The service was great! The ambiance was typical of a hotel restaurant. The food was warm-- and my review is luke-warm. It just fell short of my expectations.
We were celebrating my husband's birthday and we had a great time with great friends! The atmosphere was pleasant. The service could've been better, it was a little too slow! Our waitress was very nice and friendly. We had a great time and I would recommend Wallace's Kitchen to others.
