The service was good. Food was delicious but my roast and potatoes were warm, like maybe they sat for a bit before coming out. Would have preferred them to be hot but the quality and taste were great. The server was attentive but not bothersome. There were only a few people in the restaurant so it was nice and intimate and the ambiance was comfortable and romantic. Would eat here again.
The restaurant was way understaffed and should not have been open.
The food was not good and it was overly priced, especially given the low quality. Service was decent but the food was so disappointing that it didn’t make up for it.
Thanksgiving buffet was pretty good. The food itself was tasty but some of the selections were not replenished quickly enough. Service was good and wait staff was attentive. A big gripe - in order to get your parking ticket validated you have to walk all the way to another desk somewhere far away to get it taken care of. Much too far and too much trouble for someone elderly or disabled. They need to make it easier to get paid parking.
First time in Louisville. Walker's Echange was a wonderful place to celebrate Thanksgiving Brunch.
Fabulous food and great service. Highly recommend.
I was not aware from the description that it was a buffet. The description was Thanksgiving Day Brunch.
Very underwhelming. Breakfast even worse! High price for average value
Food was good. Service was o.k. The waiter had a difficult time with English, but he was working and trying that is comendable. Small portions, and pricey for what it was. Interior was very nice. We got the salmon, it was great, but just Small portions.
Our server Auris was attentive but we could see you were short staffed. The flat bread and salad were good... but the loaded potato soup did not have much potatoes in it. And it was not attractive to our tastes. The drinks were fine. Your manager, Frank I think, came to our table and listened to our story. He tried to take our bill to adjust the amount...but we refused. We are Louisvillans and we want the Galt house to succeed. We very much appreciated Frank's attentiveness. WE WANT YOU TO SUCCEED!!!!
Made a reservation online, arrived and the waitress informed us that they were closed at 9pm. Reservations was set for 9:15pm.
Although she had to honor our reservation, once we placed our order the food came out pretty cold. 😧
Horrible experience. Was seated and waited in an empty restaurant for almost 30 minutes before we ordered. Waited another 30 minutes to find out it would be another hour to get our food. We walked out. Won’t be back. Highly Unrecommended.
Our order was incorrectly submitted and my son received a kids burger instead of the double we ordered. Not that big of a deal.. the burgers are very low quality.
The lunch menu is for Jockey’s Silk, not one unique to Walker’s Exchange. Average food that doesn’t meet the price tag, less than average service and overall would not be a spot from downtown Louisville that I’d recommend.
Last night my wife and I were going to a performance of the Louisville Orchestra. We had reservations at Walker’s Exchange. That was our mistake. When we got there only about six people were dining. Although the menu on the website had ribeye steak and salmon, when we got there the menu of a lesser restaurant was used. We were told they were short staffed, so they only had the cheaper menu. We ended up getting a hamburger, fries and a chicken sandwich. This is not what we had planned on eating. We could have stayed home for this kind of food. However, the salads and drinks were good. Walker’s Exchange needs to put the true menu on their website. We will never go back. Lesson learned.
I am a little disappointed with the service. The server was no where to be found for most of the visit, the server did not speak English very well and had a hard time taking our order. The food took forever to get to the table and when it did, the order was different from what we wanted. Overall, great setting, good prices, okay service, though it took time, at least our order was fixed and our issues were resolved.
Menu was a bar menu from the bar next door. Service was not as the waiter did not understand English well.
Menu was no where even close to what was advertised on the website
Well first off, the high rating is accurate. Great looking place & looks as if it wouldn't be a loud.
The low ratings were based off the fact that...IT WAS CLOSED!! Yes, am 8PM reservation, but, the p place was closed. I don't know if it's the fault of the restaurant or, OT... but, one of you need to make sure the hours are correct!
A man was laughing the entire time, inappropriately. Service was slow because of the lack of staff. Food was ok. Not worth it though.
Ordered blackened shrimp. Very little seasoning. Mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. Hush puppies were excellent.
Food was decent but maybe not for the price. Service was ok but for not being real busy I'd say 2 out of 5. Milk and spoons are not readily available so tracking down a waitress was slightly annoying. The worst was two stacks of dirty plates that we sorted through to find one clean enough to eat from.
Unfortunately, our brunch at Walker's Exchange was very disappointing. We visited on a Sunday morning and had a reservation. There was a breakfast buffet. There were lots of empty pans at the buffet that were not be replenished quickly - some stayed empty the entire time we were there. They also had cereal out but did not have bowls or spoons.
We made a reservation for brunch since it was supposed to be a sit down restaurant and had options for gluten free food. When we got there we were not given any menus, we’re told to sit in the corner that the buffet was in the back. It was full of food I couldn’t eat and because I took a plate with a scoop of cold plain oatmeal and bacon I was charged 20+ dollars
Our experience was not good. We reserved based on the brunch menu and when we got there it was a buffet that had only a few items on it -- very basic. It was completely overpriced for the limited food available. Very disappointing.
Their website said breakfast buffet "was back! Friday thru Sunday." We went on a Monday morning and they sat us down and said "all we have available is the breakfast buffet, no menus today." We said okay. Buffet was poorly stocked, food was OK. Buffet cost $22! Not worth the money at all.
We didn’t realize that it was a buffet on the weekend- big mistake!! The food was terrible and there were not very many options to choose from. Not worth the money at all
This venue was rated as a highly rated brunch, but upon arrival, only a buffet was available with no updates to their website or notified following our reservations. The buffet was extremely over priced with a very limited food selection. One simple example of this horrible buffet was that bowls for cereal, yogurt, fruit were unavailable. Overall, the food quality was subpar.
I will not be staying at this hotel during our next visit to Louisville nor eating at any restaurants at the hotel.
Well the pictures made it seem like it was going to be a nice sit down breakfast. When we arrived we had to wait 10-15 mins so the service could catch up. Catch up? It was a buffet style breakfast and the service only provided coffee and water!!! Wow! Ok, so we are disappointed that its a buffet style but we are here so let's go, the eggs must have been powdered eggs, the biscuits and gravy was cold, and over all it was not good. Then when we got the bill! After tipping for a glass of water for two people we spent more than $50 for two for buffet breakfast. Bad food, slow service, and over priced. I guess the people in line as we walked out could see it written all over my husbands face too, he he was asked he didn't hesitate to tell them "you should go someplace else"
We came for breakfast, and were not given the option to order from a menu. It was a buffet that cost $22 per person, which they didn’t reveal until you received the bill. They were completely out of pastries, with no toast to be found, on,y bagels. The food was mediocre at best, certainly not worth $22. Buyer beware.
The overall experience was not good enough for us to come back. The price for the buffet was way too high for the quality of food and service. My wife wanted hot cereal, but there were no bowls in sight (she finally find one in an adjacent room). After seating us and bringing water, our waitress disappeared for an extended spell. My wife needed milk and sweetener for her cereal and had to wait a rather long time to get someone's attention to bring them. Once the waitress reappeared she gave us good service after that.
For a high-end hotel, the smorgasbord self-serve breakfast is equivalent to other hotel's free breakfast. It definitely was not work the $50 price tag for breakfast for two.
We were not informed that they replaced their brunch menu with the equivalent of a hotel complementary breakfast. We were charged $22/person for the buffet, an amount larger than the average price of a meal on their standard brunch menu. The food itself was bland. We will not be returning.
We made a reservation for breakfast for three at 9:45 AM. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated right away. After 20 minutes at the table by ourselves, we had to ask for our waitress.
Apparently they decided not to use the menu today (Mother’s Day) when we visited. There was only a buffet and it was mediocre. If they told us this when we made the reservation or when they asked us to confirm the reservation, it would have helped us make our decision because we would have found another restaurant.
As we were leaving, I asked the hostess if she could validate our parking. She told us that she could not but that the hotel front desk would do so. When we spoke to the hotel front desk, they told us they do not validate parking.
After tip, the bill came to $77. Overall, the experience was disappointing and we won’t be going back, especially at that price point.
I have eaten there before and it had been great. However, this time it wasn’t great. There was not enough staff working. We waited too long to get our order taken, too long to get our food, too long to get our check. Our food was not tasty and it was too greasy. Our reservation was at 8:30 am and we left past 10:00 because we waited too long to get our food that was not even tasty.
Showed up with a reservation to wait 20m at the hostess stand because the host was taking to go orders. Breakfast took 2.5h because they were understaffed but only had about 10 tables in the place occupied. Food was cold by the time we got it, we were never offered any refills on drinks. Pretty much everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Will not be back nor will we ever stay at the Galt House.
What a bad experience. My partner and I made a reservation for 10:30. Arrived around 10:35 to a crowd of confused people. The unpleasant hostess made the announcement that they were not taking walk-ins any longer and only parties with reservations should stay. Around 11 we were seated.
The eggs Benedict consisted of a soggy English muffin, burnt bacon (not Canadian bacon), very softly poached eggs (extremely runny yolk) and about 2 cups of a lukewarm hollandaise sauce, WAT too much.
We also had French toast that was fair, but served with plastic containers of fake syrup.
Around this time we heard another server tell a table, “I have a lot of things going on, you’ll have to wait.”
Our server the processed to drop our check off while we were still eating. About 3 minutes later, while still eating, she came back again, looked at the bill, looked at me and said “um do you want to pay now?” To which I surprisingly said “well, sure” as I dug in my pocket for my wallet.
For the price and being part of the Galt House, we were extremely disappointed.
Super slow service, not enough staff, hostess doesn’t understand how to seat people, empty restaurant with super long line, hostess takes takeout orders while others wait in line to be seated, no clue. Food good once your seated.
The food here was incredible. Great portions, the gravy on the biscuits and gravy was addicting. Our server did an excellent job. We will definitely be back when we're in the area next.
Service was slow even though we had a reservation. Quality of food was low, potatoes were under cooked and biscuit was over cooked/reheated. No coffee refills and slow to get the Bill. Just understaffed no fault of waitstaff.
Food was delicious, my only complaint is that it is a little expensive for brunch. Overall, highly recommend!
