Wakuriya serves authentic Japanese cuisine in intimate, Asian-inspired minimalist settings. Chef Katsuhiro Yamasaki offers a new 9-course prix fixe menu each month, but the categories remain largely the same. Dinner at Wakuriya typically launches with a starter like the "hiyashi chawan-mushi" shrimp, followed by an assorted appetizer like a plate of salmon and Japanese cucumber, served with cream cheese sorbet. This is followed by a steamed dish, a hot dish and then a palate cleanser. To round off the evening, guests are given their choice of a broiled dish and a mouth-watering dessert, like peach crème brûlée and chocolate rice cake. Open Wednesdays to Sundays, Wakuriya serves a maximum of 16 diners and has two seatings every night. The restaurant also boasts a fine selection of sake to complement its meals.
