LOVE this restaurant! Fabulous menu, fabulous creative drinks made with fresh ingredients and loads of creativity, presented beautifully, with tons of options for every type of diner (from omnivore to vegan) and fun flavors all-around. But one caution: this is one of those restaurants that has latched onto the idea of suggesting tip amounts for their servers. I find this practice somewhat offensive, but can live with it when it's done honestly. This restaurant has calculated its "suggested" tips on not only the amount of the tab, but also the tax and the non-optional imposed "3% Employee of the Month Bonus". So remember to do your own math, and don't calculate the percentage you want to leave based on the State of Hawaii's portion, nor on the additional 3% imposed, which you may or may not want to also deduct from your overall tip amount. But back to the main deal: this is a terrific and rather undiscovered restaurant. We'll be back as often as we can!
Great onion rings and tacos!
Great food and drinks. We were there after sunset so hard to tell about the area beyond the patio. Server was outstanding. Covid protocols lacking but that fully we were outdoors.
Onion rings were over done, pasta was dry and we ended up canceling our salad because we completed our meal and it still hadn’t come to our table. Our waitress was friendly.
Ariel was so sweet!!
I can’t believe this restaurant has any bad reviews. The staff were so friendly, the service was quick and the food blew my mind. They care about the food they are cooking here, and that made the price worth it to me. Everything they make is all natural, lots of vegan and gluten free option. From the drinks to the dessert, everything was phenomenal. The chefs here are creative and pay attention to detail. I am sad we aren’t here more days or I would try everything on this menu. Very impressed.
Our server was excellent but the bartender was slow. Took a little by time to get our drinks.
After the sun went down, the lighting was terrible. It felt like small spotlight shining in our eyes.
Worst meal of the vacation. Service exceptionally poor. Waiter seemed to forget us and focus on the larger tables. Then when he did come over he tried to rush us along. Only good part was the view which we got plenty of time to enjoy waiting
Amazing good food ! Comparable to other restaurants in the area that are hard to get a reservation at . Loved the ceviche . Everything is local and fresh
A little too expensive for the type of food they do.
Delicious food, great atmosphere, a hidden gem in Maui! Thank you to our waitress Jennifer for making our night out special!
I was looking for vegan/gluten free food and I was overjoyed with the choices provided. I had the jackfruit enchiladas on corn tortillas and practically licked the plate clean! Can’t wait to come back!
The food was awesome and we went twice in one week. Each dish was delicious and I would recommend Wailea Kitchen to any Wailea visitor. You may wait a bit for the food but it’s worth it and the location doesn’t have a ocean view but makes up for it with authentically made dishes.
First day off the flight maybe they were understaffed. Nachos excellent but then we waited an hour for the rest of our food. We could have made a better salad than what was given to us. Not fresh. Fish tacos were ok but we were starving by the time we got them. Wait staff was apologetic saying staff was out due to recent New Years activities. Don’t go here if you are hungry.
Not a very organized meal experience. We did not get greeted at the door…so had to “hang around” waiting for someone to greet us. Bartenders were nearby, but did not make an effort to acknowledge us. Once we got sat down, the person who seated us mentioned she’d get us waters, but must have forgot. We waited for quite awhile to get a menu and waters. Drinks took about 30 minutes. Our ordered food took 1 hour and 15 minutes. Before our food arrived, the staff had to move us to a different table as they were getting the restaurant ready for New Year’s Eve festivities. They invited us to purchase tickets, but apologized when we told them we hadn’t eaten yet.
Food was average at best. Drinks were OK. Definitely expensive for the portion size and quality. I would not recommend this place to others…
Wonderful location. We would definitely go back. - if we could.
We went to WK for an ordinary dinner experience which featured local cuisine. It did not disappoint. The food was well prepared, the wait staff was friendly, welcoming and attentive at the right times. I cannot say enough nice things about it.
Excelente servicio, muy atento el personal. El único problema fue que solo se podía consumir el menú especial de navidad.
Horrible food… made the reservation month in advance based on menu and when we arrived they informed us that only option was price fixed, 4 course at $95. Soup and salad almost inedible. Only two choices for entree… meat and vegan. We all had the meat which was also terrible. To add insult to injury they charged $60 for a two year old who had pasta in butter and olive oil!!
Nothing about this place reflects a professional establishment. They should try a different profession.. and
We were happily surprised with our delicious, locally sourced, prix fix dinner on Christmas Eve! I'd not heard of Wailea Kitchen, but they had an opening, and menu looked great - so happy we tried it! Every part of the meal my daughter and I both loved, and the service was excellent too. It was a lovely open-air setting, with nice views and felt safe for eating out.
I love that they use mostly (maybe all?) locally grown ingredients, and they're doing some really innovative and delicious combinations. I'll definitely go back!
We had a very positive dining experience at Wailea Kitchen. We got the holiday fixed price menu. The food was all very flavorful - especially the soup and the mushroom appetizer. The vegan beyond meat meatloaf was excellent. We all enjoyed the mashed potatoes - they had a tapioca flavor that was different yet delicious. The desserts though were very mediocre.
Overall we had a fun culinary experience and would highly recommend the restaurant!
The service here is beyond subpar. We never got drinks. We got the wrong meals. When the meals did come only half of them showed up, then the others came 15 minutes later. They served gin in a water glass then gave it to the wrong person who doesn’t drink. The food wasn’t the worst thing I’d ever had but it wasn’t great either. Overall the staff seemed impaired, read into that how you’d like. I wouldn’t go back.
Not great - I would not recommend to anyone unless you like your food over fried, small portion, tasteless and really expensive. Hard to find and access, service was odd. Hostess kept trying to clear our plates as we were still eating, hurrying us along.
Staff was great - attentive and friendly.
Menu via QR code was hard to navigate and many choices missed.
Great food, nice service, not on the ocean but it was fun watching the tennis players. Expensive like anywhere in Wailea. A little difficult getting there. We walked from the hotel parking lot to a shuttle that took us down to the restaurant because my husband is 70 and has a hip problem.
Menu creative and expensive. Service non existent.
Food was great and people were nice. Service is always a little slow but they do their best!
Too bad you ran out of the Banana dessert :(
I went there for my birthday dinner and had an amazing meal, would definitely go back. I loved the farm to table concept and unique atmosphere. They were out of the wine I wanted but the server was knowledgeable and suggested something equally smooth and delicious. I have a unique allergy they worked with and made every dish special and tasty.
I think we hit this place on an off night. We’ve been coming to Maui for about 40 years. Joe’s was always our favorite restaurant so we really want to like Wailea Kitchen, now in its place, but it didn’t work for us. That said, I want to note that our server was bubbly and tremendously fun – – that part of the evening was impressive. The fellow that greeted us was not so friendly. When I asked about getting a ride back up to the parking lot after dinner (it’s a trek), he blandly let me know that they could probably do that, but it never did happen. I also asked him for a paper menu, he offered me a tablet, and he never did bring it to the table. We did not get off to a good start. Drinks were super slow in arriving and the food took so long that they comped us some nachos for our long wait. Food was just ok when it did finally arrive. Drinks were good. We probably won’t go back again anytime soon.
Such a great place for anyone, including those of us with special dietary needs! It’s also open air and felt safe for covid. It was quiet when we went on a Saturday night! Seems like it’s still a secret.
This is our new favorite restaurant in Wailea. I love how passionate the staff are about the restaurant and their menu. The food was amazing and super fresh. The service was superb. They are very accommodating with dietary restrictions and genuinely want people to have a great time. I love that everything is local and love how much they care about sustainable farming. Awesome!!!
This was a great find. Our food was amazing. Will definitely go back.
This was a great restaurant we had 13 people dining and they took care of us with no issues. We did think the food was pretty over priced for what we got but I guess that’s Hawaii for you. Overall the drinks were good and the service was great.
Restaurant was closed but reservations on Open Table were alliwed
Excellent farm to table dishes. Great vegan and vegetarian options, but local game is also available. All our choices were delicious. Decent wine list and alcohol choices. Although we were there in the middle of a storm, we know that the views are stunning. And the service is excellent! We strongly recommend Wailea Kitchen!
Ariel was a fantastic waiter. Attentive, informative and friendly.
Staff were friendly. Location was loud though as lots of kids were rambunctious. Food was tasty. Lots of vegan options which is great.
Cool, kind of quirky place that cares a lot about their food and drinks. Yes it’s hard to find. And the service is relaxed. But the folks there are really wonderful, and the food was delicious. Excellent cocktails with local, real ingredients.
Especially good for vegans, but everyone was happy.
They were awful. Our food came over 2 hours after being seated. The drinks alone took and hour and 45 mins. They demanded a tip as it was already included in our bill even after terrible service. In the end after waiting so long the food was cold and crappy. DO NOT EAT HERE!!
I have never left a negative review before but its important I warn other people about this place. SO DISAPPOINTING!
