   Excellent value,good food and I think it’s a good idea to restrict the Sunday menu to roasts only.

   The service was good and the food was ok but the portions of main meal was very poor.

   We were told we could sit anywhere which was nice to have the option. On previous visits, it had always been table service but after sitting for a while with our menus, we approached the bar to ask to order which they straightaway helped with. My friends had the burger and drink deal where their drink was then £2 :) I had the loaded fries which were lovelyyyyy but the price was quite steep for the portion size. I also tried the mac and cheese side order - now this was lovely and for a side order the size was HUGE so was proper impressed with that

   I booked online and chose the option for the regular menu as the vegetarian choice was poor on the Mother’s Day menu. When we got to the place they were only serving the mothers day 3 course meal. There was no apology and I felt mislead. We waited a long time for service. They had run out of the vegetarian starter. My vegetarian main course didn’t arrive, they sent over beef instead, which I had to send back. When the correct main came the pastry was rock hard, the contents of the pie were scorching hot and tasteless, the parsnips were hard and the potatoes were stale. The pudding was nice but we had to wait for the cutlery as they had run out and the cutlery were in the dishwasher. Overall the food was really poor, the service was really poor, the waitresses were miserable and there were no apologies for the bad food, poor choice and bad service. I would not recommend this place for food, it was a complete waste of money.

   We have had a few meals at the wagon and horses which have all been great but the valentines meal was out standing the food was amazing so thank you for making a great night and meal out

   I asked to be seated in the bar but when we got there I asked if we could be seated in the restaurant area but they had already placed in the restaurant area. I asked for a Diet Coke I was given a pint of coke I wasn’t asked what size I wanted my friend then asked for a smaller glass. We ordered our starters I had the Stilton and mushroom with a crusty roll. My friend ordered the nachos. When the nachos came out they were all broken and in small pieces. My friend asked for whole nachos he came back and said sorry that is all they had. My friend declined them. He then left taking the nachos with him. He never came back to ask her if she wanted another starter. He came and took my plate away he asked if everything was ok I said I said yes but my friend said that we was expecting him to offer her the menu to order another starter, he then offered her a menu but she said no as we assumed the mains would have been cooked already and didn’t want it just sitting there. There only 1-3 other people in the pub having chips and a sandwich. I ordered a side of onion rings but we only realised that I didn’t received them until after we got home and she checked the bill. They had charged her for them. There was only 1 member of staff on he was very welcoming towards us through our visit. We will not be returning.

    The pub phoned me before I arrived to ask me to pre-order from the festive menu, but didn't sound happy we only wanted the normal menu. It was very obvious why when we arrived, we were the only ones eating, and they couldn't wait to get shot of us. Very pushy when ordering, we were going to have a main and a dessert. Once our mains arrived, which were ok, but not great, (frozen pie, not fresh etc) - staff were nonvisible. We waited 15 mins for a member of the bar staff to come and see "if we wanted any more drinks from the bar, or just wanted to pay" - So...no dessert offered, we asked for a coffee, but were told "no coffee, we've just turned the machine off" - this was at 8.30pm!! on a Saturday night!!! All in all, rude and unhelpful staff that were more interested in texting and posting on Facebook on their phones and getting customer's out so they could close early than tending to customers. In the end I had to go to the bar and pay, as getting anyone to come back to ACTUALLY pay once the bill arrived was impossible. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK FOR SOME TIME!!
