About this restaurant

The Waggon & Horses of Surbiton is these days one of the finest spots in the area for good, honest food and drink. From the menu you can expect British-style pub classics like fish & chips and pie of the day, alongside seriously good homemade thin crust pizzas courtesy of a state of the art pizza oven. Should that not be enough, the Waggon & Horses also offer an irresistible selection of gourmet burgers that we’re certain will hit the spot every time. Throw in a well-stocked bar with craft beers, real ales, as well as a charming setting Surbiton Hill Road with space for any occasion and it’s not hard to see why Waggon & Horses Surbiton is so popular. Waggon & Horses is one of favourite spots in this part of London that’s absolutely worth a reservation in advance.

Booking system not working so pub had no knowledge of our booking so they arranged a table in bar. One main course came out before the starters, when questioned the staff asked if we had specifically requested that the mains came out after the starters!! Sticky toffee was horrible and cold when questioned the staff said it should have been hot but as we had eaten it there was nothing they could do. Overall would not recommend or return.

Pretty poor service - they didn't have our booking when we arrived and just said sit anywhere luckily there were free tables. Service was polite but very slow, they got our order wrong, spilt drink on my husband's pizza, food was ok but nothing special, alright for the price. Wouldn't go again sadly. They did apologise and thank us for being patient as we were leaving.

Consistently good food and service. Several different interior and exterior spaces, great for all weathers and occasions. Proper family friendly, local pub which makes everyone feel very welcome.

Lovely staff and service, shame there was too many unavailable dishes on the menu (at 8.30pm on a friday?). Average food and little atmosphere...just not quite the right pub for us! Certainly wouldn't put in the Gastro Pub category...

The Waggon was refurbished a couple of years ago and re-launched as yet another "gastro pub", a term I've come to loathe because of it connotation of above-average quality but over-priced pub-grade food. Sadly, this could not be more true of the Waggon... My wife and I had been eager to go ever since the rebirth of the most recent incarnation of this otherwise run-of-the-mill local bar & eatery. I guess the key word here is "disappointing". Why? Well, perhaps I have unjustifiably high expectations of a pub that serves a rib-eye steak at an above-average price point of £18,95. Perhaps, when paying £6,95 for a ribs starter, I'm unreasonably expecting more than 2 scrawny, malnourished but good-tasting ribs? Service good, food not so.

This was my second time to eat here and was very much looking forward to it as we had sich a great experience before Christmas. I was slightly disappointed this time round. The service and staff we not as friendly and attentive as our previous visit which has been one of the highlights. Food was not as good as the last time too. I will go back but hope that it will be better again next time.

Friendly staff but very slow service. 35 minute wait for a burger and a pizza at lunchtime. The food was good but I'm not sure that it was worth the wait....
