Wagamama (Murray Hill - 39th Street)
it’s not just japanese, chinese or korean. it’s a fresh take on great asian fusion food.
our exec chef has been travelling extensively across asia, selecting his favorite flavors and recipes and has given them a modern, nourishing twist, the wagamama way
we believe in eating informally | on long communal benches | together with your friends | when you want. come from work. come in your gym clothes. we call this nourishment from bowl to soul
Excellent service from our server.
Fantastic food and a really nice atmosphere staff very helpful
This was my second time at Wagamama. My first time was for lunch out with coworkers. Food came quickly it was a little spicy but tasty. The second time I took my boyfriend for dinner. I had the chicken teriyaki which was good but nothing special. My boyfriend order chicken and shrimp pad thai. It was very spicy, there was almost no chicken, and the noodles were completely undercooked. The dish was basically inedible. He also ordered the lychee martini which was not good. It tasted like we were drinking perfume. I really enjoyed my first time so this experience was a let down. I would recommend for affordable lunch outings but nothing else.
The hostess was pretty rude because I modified my reservation 15 minutes, she was not friendly like if she was doing us a favor, and she assign a table that had all the sun so it was pretty uncomfortable.
We love the atmosphere there and the food is really good. You are informed that you may not all get your food at the same time so there are no surprises. Highly recommend!
Just like we remember from London. Good, fast ramen. We love the kids menu just offers smaller-sized adult items.
I have been a fan of wagamama’s for years since I first went to one in London over a decade ago. So happy they are in NY and the food is excellent!
The service was top notch. The hostess, our waiter Alex and several other servers worked as a team to assure that we got attention throughout the meal. The appetizers were amazing! Our vegetable tempura and bang bang cauliflower were delicious. Because none of the food is prepared in advance, everything was super fresh. My companion loved her entrée, salmon teriyaki on a bed of soba noodles. My entrée, the grilled duck bowl, was very good and the portions are more than generous. I loved the fact that the seasoning is left up to the diner. More vegetables and fewer carbohydrates in the entrée choices would have made it a better experience for me. Conversation can be limited by the noise level. It's a pleasant ambience, but not meant to accommodate a quiet or romantic meal. Most of the seating is small benches at long communal tables.
Very bad service. The waitress didn’t know the menu and didn’t know if food can be substituted. She kept going to her manager, one time she asked her manager a question : “They came here to eat and want to substitute something with another item, can we do that” it was very rude how she treated us. Also, the manager had no passion and looked very tired and didn’t have customer service skills whatsoever. Very poor service would not go back for sure.
excellent! As usual.
I go to this Wagamama literally at least once a week since it's opening. I have been there with serval different friends and coworkers. I have even gotten my friend who doesn't like Asian fusion food to go there more than once. I am the most bias reviewer.
Loved it! Great taste and good prices.
We love Wagamama and wish they would open one in Washington, DC
So excited to have Wagamama in my neighborhood. I have been a fan since the first one opened in London.
Clean, fast, excellent food. The staff is amazing.
Outstanding! Affordable really good Izakaya like menu. Excellent service and team.
This was the fourth time we have eaten at Wagamama. Food is very good, fresh ingredients and many interesting selections. Only thing I don't like is that they serve dishes from the kitchen when they are ready and not everyone at the table gets their food at the same time. Friendly staff
Food was amazing. Company was even better. Service was a bit lack luster. Noticed our server was more attentive with other guest verses us but it’s fine. It had been my third night out since I had my almost 4 month old so the company of my friends was all that matter to me anyways. Chris the manager made sure to check up on us and was great!
Good things first, our waiter was great. They also had an option of splitting a dish into two from the kitchen which was also very nice. Chili chicken ramen, cauliflower bang bang and the baos were delicious. Bad things, 3 of the individual plates came out completely dirty and unwashed. We ordered a bottle of chilled white wine but the wine glasses that came with it were very warm as if it was just taken out of a hot dish washer. The two teppanyaki dishes yaki soba and bulgogi steak with noodle were very dry.
The food was very good, as Wagamama should be. The difference was the sever Roriero. He was excellent! He discussed the menu, made great suggestions and was very professional.
Service was great, food delicious. Gotnseated with a group of 10 really quicky. Simple yet clever method of handing out dishes with writing the order number on our paper coasters.
Service needs work. Our order came very late and then was incorrect. Multiple servers work with the same table and this seemed to be causing a lot of confusion.
My 1st Wagamama experience was in London 10 years ago, was excited to try it in NYC - I was not disappointed. One of the best places to pop up in Murray Hill!
Staff were disorganized and late in taking order, bringing drinks. Food came nearly 5 minutes apart. Manager insinuated that I was not telling the truth about not being brought a second glass of wine - this issue singularly lead to the poor rating.
I’ve gone to the Flatiron location several times with great experiences which is why I was excited to see that there was a new location closer to where I live. My first experience was shockingly disappointing.
The hostess greeted us by saying she was “tired” and had been working since 10:00 AM (our reservation was for 8:00 PM). We were seated promptly but then waited for 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. The waiter who showed up seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. It took him several minutes to come back with water. We asked to order food and drinks and each step of the way, despite my objection and direction, he over-explained the menu choices which added to our frustrstion from having been waiting.
Our food came out in the wrong order (app and one main, then another main several minutes later). The first main was lukewarm when it arrived.
Our waiter never came back to check on us or ask if the food was ok until we had finished eating.
Wonderful atmosphere. Very attentive staff. Delicious food. Upbeat music. We had a wonderful night at Wagamama.
Outstanding service! Such a fantastic place for families. The food is so tasty and the service is just out of this world. I accidentally ordered the wrong dish for my daughter and they brought me the one i actually wanted and didn‘t even charge me for it. Its my to go place now.
We understand its a new restaurant... but the service was beyond unacceptable. Super slow right from the time we got seated.
Overall quite good experience except for heavy tastes
Recipes have changed of my favorite dishes. Not the same anymore. Disappointing, won’t be coming back after being a loyal customer in the UK and US.
Chili chicken ramen, bang bang cauliflower, duck bao is delicious. The beef donburi is just ok... It's like a deli version of a Korean bibimbap. Ginger chicken udon is a bit dry... Chicken yaki soba is better. Overall it's a hit or miss according to the dish but since interior and vibe is nice I would go back.
The food and service was exceptional! A great addition to the neighborhood.
Amazing food, very attentive and excited workers. I've already recommended this place to 5 people after I left the restaurant!
The staff needs pay more attention to detail (we had to ask for water). The dessert took long. All they had to do is cut the lemon tart and add the whip cream (15 min). They eventually took it off our bill.
Ambiance and décor great. Service exceptional. Food good, but nothing notable, mostly western takes on Asian staples.
