Vue De Monde Ratings and Reviews
It was a special event and they took care of us beautifully. The food was delicious and surprising. Really loved being able to see the chefs at work too. Really added to the experience. Staff were polite and attentive. Just a great night from start to finish. Thank you.
The whole experience fro the moment you leave 'Ground Floor' until the return to earth several hours later is nothing short of magical.
The whole team manage to create a wonderful ambiance, from the bar through to the kitchen and restaurant - everyone appears highly competent and engaged - as for the food and drink, simply exceptional!
Several dishes on the Chef's Menu were absolutely eye popping - beautiful as well as delicious, and everything was explained and described perfectly.
Words cannot describe how incredible this place is. A must do when in Melbourne.
Food was exquisite, service impeccable and overall atmosphere was fantastic!
Extensive wine list showcasing the entire world.
Staff were welcoming, friendly and certainly knew their food.
Great view of city, however to fully enjoy this I'd recommend a 8pm dinner time as the sun was shining though the windows the whole time for us. We had a 2hr time limit so the experience did feel rushed. 5 of our courses were raw to rare food, which might be great for some but I was hoping for more diversity for the price paid. Wait staff was nice but don't expect to make friends.
Great food and showy presentation, lots of Schick. Wide variety of food. Only negative, all the staff was French and we did not understand them most of the time in the noisy environment and they didn't understand us so the r e were wine miscues and we did not know what we were eating sometimes.
My husband and I saved up to visit Vue de Monde for his 30th birthday. It’s price range was certainly above our average dinner spending. It was worth every single cent! I feel we could write a novel of our experience at this incredible restaurant but to keep it short.. it was perfect. The staff, the ambience, the view, the setting and the food was flawless. We hope to return one day as it was one of the best experiences our lives.
There is a feeling of exclusivity from the moment you arrive and are ushered to a waiting area. You are then escorted to an express lift to make your way to 55 Floor. Greeted again by a personal waiter to the table.
The food is AMAZING! (I kept forgetting what came before as a new dish was presented that was both a work of art and delicious) The views are unparalleled, the food exciting/edgy/Australiana/artistically presented/wine A+, service attentive. This is a DINNER AND SHOW experience. AAA+++
From the moment we walked in we were treated with friendliness and professionalism which was really what made the night so great - I've never had service as good.
As for the food, it was a once in a lifetime experience. I didn't know food could be made to be as tasty as this and the presentation of everything down to the tiniest detail was superb.
The decor and ambience were so stylish, so relaxed - we felt we had complete privacy but also some atmosphere.
In short, amazing.
The decor and ambience is unique, very viking but warm at the same time. The service is incredible, friendly and knowledgeable, definitely the best in Australia. The dishes are carefully created and look picture perfect. I feel the chef is trying too hard for some of the fish dishes, where fewer ingredients might be better. Overall, it was a great experience, which I'll re-try in the new season.
Very good overall. Here are some thoughts from the moment I walked up:
-Entrance is tough to find.
-Beautiful views. Loved the table.
-Spoke to three or four different servers in first 10 minutes. They also do not seem skilled, certainly not what I expected in high class place.
-Food was amazing. Each plate. It kept coming.
-Weren't attentive when I ordered wine by glass. Prefer selling grossly overpriced bottles and wine tasting menu.
-Overall, food will get me back. Service, wine were blah.
An insane dining experience consisting of the largest and most varied dishes I've ever tasted. Over 4 hours to enjoy 16 courses of meticulously curated and immaculately presented food. While the menu presented an infinite amount of items I had not experienced before, there were only a few moments when I was truly wowed by the flavour of a dish. While this may be by design to enable you to get through so many courses, I was hoping for a few more dishes that I would rave about.
This was our 2nd visit to Vue De Monde and we were unfortunately very disappointed.
We got the Chef's Tasting menu and I brought it to our waiters attention that everything we are was extremely smokey and overbearing. For a lot of the courses we couldn't taste the food but just the smokey taste. I also didn't have 4 courses but our waiter didn't offer any discount (I didn't ask for a discount but I would have expected a gesture). We spent $800 & I honestly must admit that we did not enjoy it
Food was exquisite, delicious and fulfilling. Service was great & ambience perfect. I felt value for money was adequate too except for some of the options on the wine list. Serving $40 or so for a glass of wine, for a bottle which is worth approximately $80 in store, I think is excessive. Overall though our experience was fantastic. Thank you.
Absolutely wonderful! From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with such a pleasant manner. Prompt efficient service takes you to the lift then you are welcomed again by warm friendly staff. As for the food it is truly impeccable, the quality the freshness and everything is cooked to perfection. We had a superb lunch, all brought together with wonderful theatre alongside the dining. The only criticism would be $50 a glass for non vintage champagne is a little steep the online menu it’s $31!!
Quite simply, our best meal and dining experience ever. The food was exceptional, from start to finish, the staff were amazing and always available, the views were spectacular of Melbourne and the fitout beautiful.
Shannon Bennett, Justin James and the whole team are magicians to create such masterpieces.
As far as we are concerned, this should be 3 hats, it is so far beyond any other 2 hat restaurant in Australia.
Thank you Vue de Monde.
Did not love the experience- overpriced and totally over rated. Food was average / I was so disappointed.
$70 per glass of champagne and charged $18 for water not from a bottle - I didn't even finish one glass. Ridiculous. Clearly only for people that have disposable income.
Anticipation was high to sample the food at this highly rated restaurant.
Sweeping up in he lift to the sun lit room with sweeping views the tone was set for an amazing meal.
Unfortunately it did not deliver. The ambience was lovley and the small details added to the experience but the food was underwhelming at best, boring at its worst.
Highlights included the crab hot dog and Vegemite damper but the rest was just trying to hard, lacked seasoning and complexity.
Would not recommend
What a superb evening. To celebrate my Mum's 80th birthday; both Mum and Dad haven't stopped talking about it. They're lost for words to describe the 'experience'. So that's what they say - Vue De Monde is an experience that they can't describe.
From entering reception, escorted to lift, greeted at the bar, escorted to the table and the service throughout the night was exceptional. Mum will never forget this special night.
Everything was superb, staff, the sycronicity in the kitchen, and food.
