Service was terrible. We had a 7 pm reservation and did not get our wine for 30 minutes. The cheese came 15 minutes after that. Our dinner never came because it was accidentally sent to the wrong table, so that came almost 2 hours later. At that point I was just ready to go.
Not our best experience. Service was really slow and the food wasn’t amazing. We didn’t send it back or anything, but for how expensive it all was i wasn’t really impressed
Such a great neighborhood spot for a couple or a group! Good wine list with lots of nice options by the glass. Food was delicious! Service was superb! Highly recommend their back patio for outdoor dining too!

Volo is always our go-to place for a great glass of wine, good food, and great ambiance. There's consistently good energy and the staff really cares about your experience. Such a gem in our neighborhood!

This was excellent, as always! We always enjoy just lingering there, sipping wine and enjoying the different courses. Our server, Will, was helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable.
The ambiance is great but unfortunately our server was not good. She was not friendly or welcoming. She dropped off our check before asking if we were finished and while we still had full glasses of wine.
Came for restaurant week and was not disappointed
I usually love bone marrow, but this was certainly not the best - didn't finish it. Otherwise everything was great!
The black and blue steak was cooked to perfection. We also got the salted Carmel dessert - SO good! We love the people at Volo. Always so friendly with great service.

We left starving! I understand tapas but the tacos looked like they came out of honey I shrunk the kids movie! Smallest things I have ever seen for $9! Such a waste of money. Stopped at a taco joint on the way home. Not worth it!!!!!
Three of went out for my sister's birthday and were treated like VIPs. Granted, it was a very quiet night, but I have to say that the service was excellent and the food was so delicious. We asked our sever for recommendations and everything was spot-on. Definitely worth a visit if you're into wine, shared plates, and an intimate atmosphere.

This has been my favorite “upscale casual”. Amazing food, great wine list, the cutest bugalo couches perfect for a date, and friendly attitude-free staff. Best date in a while!
A group of friends and I were lucky enough to get in here on a recent Saturday night for our dear friend's birthday. Everything about the experience was fantastic. At our reservation time, they were ready for us, with a great table in the lovely, festive, heated tented back patio. The server (I wish I'd caught her name) was so friendly and wonderful, she completely added to the experience of the night. We ate loads of wonderful things and drank some great wines, including one I can never find anywhere. Thanks for a great time, Volo!
Great food and wine. Good choice of wines and wine flights. Best steak tartar I've had in a long time & items you don't see often, such as marrow-bone. Amazing salted caramel chocolate mouse.
There are also two apartments that you can rent above the bar. The one my visiting family stayed in was perfect for a few days in Chicago.
This was as close to a perfect dining experience as I have had. We were seated at an excellent table without what has become the unfortunate current practice of hosts first taking you to a less desirable table. Our server was prompt and friendly and her timing was impeccable with our beverages and all courses. We had a cheese tray which was superb. My friend and I split a beet salad and the entree special which was lamb tagliatelle. The entree was wonderful. Truly a gem in this charming neighborhood.
I love this place! The food is so tasteful, Ive been here twice. The first time just for drinks and the bartender, Dano was so pleasant and friendly he definitely made the experience at the bar. The chefs food smelled SO good I had to take my Fiancé back to enjoy a meal. Delicious!! My new fave spot. Thanks to the chef for a wonderful experience!

I've been going to Volo for years and have always had a good experience. Food and service have always been outstanding. I was a bit disappointed with my last visit however. The service was below average, we felt our waitress was overwhelmed, unhappy and inattentive. Also, I use Open Table often and was upset to find out the menu listed was not the current menu. We were told several items that were on there were seasonal. We drive an hour to visit this restaurant because it is one of my favorites, it would be nice if you could update your menu.
Absolutely love Volo. Everything on the menu tastes absolutely amazing and the cocktails and wine are all on point. The staff is fantastic as well.

Volo is consistently good, with sophisticated menu choices. I took a friend who had never been there and who was very impressed with the quality. It's worth going to just to read the descriptions on the wine list. The rear patio is lovely. My only complaint is that the indoor restaurant can be quite loud.
The atmosphere is great but the food is just average, which was disappointing.
After some hiccups at the beginning, we enjoyed a lovely meal outside on the patio. The hostess seemed a bit inexperienced: she told a guest without a reservation that we had stolen the last table outside, despite that we had a reservation explicitly asking for an outdoor table. We felt embarrassed. Once seated, we waited 20 minutes until we finally could flag down a server to put in a drink order. The server we flagged down was not assigned to our area, but he graciously accepted our order and was very attentive and apologetic. He made it into a wonderful evening.

I've been twice - and I cannot wait to dine here again! Volo really is a gem in my neighborhood. My friends brought me in for my birthday in January, and we were treated so well. The service was stellar, and the wine and food was flowing. We were in kind of late, and no one pushed us out or made us feel like we needed to rush to leave at the end of the night.
Because I had such a great experience in January, when I saw a dinner for 2 come across Gilt City, I thought it'd be a great way to introduce my boyfriend to Volo at a discount. We had a blast! Again, the service was excellent. We sat on the warm patio in April - it was great! We had a semi-private cabana. It was very romantic. The food was so good! And the wine flights are such a good deal. I love this family owned business. I only wish I'd tried it out sooner.
Definitely a great place to try out. And I love how the kitchen is open. Can't wait to make it sometime for Happy Hour!
Always an enjoyable experience at Volo. Only issues was the ventilation system needs to be updated or fixed. It got really smoky and intense. Also it almost seems the portions are getting even smaller than before. Hope that's not the case. But the food is always delicious and the service is good.
A great wine bar and restaurant in Roscoe Village, with excellent small plates and entrees complimented with carefully selected wines and handcrafted cocktails. Their Happy Hour is a great deal, with $5 glasses of selected house wine, $1 oysters, $2 pork belly.
Volo is an adorable local spot with a sexy, yet casual ambiance whether you are inside or outside. During the week it's definitely more low-key, as weekends can be very busy which results in a loud environment, so keep in mind if you're planning a romantic outing. The staff is super attentive, knowledgable, and a lot of fun. The wine flights are inventive and a great value. As a vegetarian, I'd love to see more veggie-friendly options on the menu. Will be back!

The wine flights are fine.
The biggest issues for us was the length of time we needed to wait for the food to arrive. It wasn't good that our server forgot an entrée. They tried to make up for the error, by providing up with two glasses of wine (of which we didnot choose). Maybe if they checked up on us more frequently, the entrée and the entire order would have arrived quicker.
If you get the Cheese Tasting save your $5 on the nuts, jam, and honey.
This was the second time coming here and we had another great experience. The happy hour is a great value, the food is delicious, and the service was courteous. We can't wait to come back!
Wine must be served in front of the client after presenting the bottle and the client's approval. And the server should not have an attitude when the client asks to check the bottle.
We went for Valentine's Day. They had a prix fixe menu, but we ordered off the regular menu. We opted for the wine flights (bubbly and french) and had the artisan cheeses (you select your own assortment). The kitchen was a bit backed up, so the waiter offered us bread and added sweet honey, candied nuts and date jam to the artisan cheeses free of charge. The Humbolt Fog was my personal favorite. We had the Duck Confit and the Lamb Stew and were both quite pleased with our choices. I will definitely go back.
